From what little I've heard moon is made of cheese. What we do now? We go argue about why I am wrong or you addmit that the little you know is not enough to judge the matter?

And yet, here we are. Maybe they felt DA:O was getting lucky or something. Also while DA:O sold more, i'm not certain if it was as profitable as Mass Effect 2, as it took much much longer to make. With how DA2 underperformed they might see that the classic RPG formula cant be molded into a One a Year/Couple Years and still sell, which could push them further towards the more actiony, shooty games.

I'm not saying I like it, as I thought ME2 was much less interesting than ME1 (My thoughts on DA2 would take much longer to get into), but that does appear to be the pattern forming in their last few games.

No; DA:O didn't just outsell ME2; it trounced it. As to why they are going this direction is obvious; EA.

I'm not saying it didn't outsell ME2, but I question whether it was more profitable. ME2 came out in two years and was very successful. Dragon Age took six years (I think?) to get to shelves? Wildly successful yes and, in my opinion, their best work, but that's a lot of budget to cover.

And yeah, being part of a major publishing company probably did have an effect on where they go business-wise, especially since (I think) EA's in kind of a financial bind lately.

Pretty much, yeah. ME3 is a very secure investment. Some people will not like it, and that's fine, but money will not be lost. SW:TOR is a much, much bigger question mark.

I firmly believe it can be done well.
The question mark really is will it?

If Bioware goes down it'll probably be because of TOR. Mass Effect is too hot a property to fail at this point, it'll probably be a while until we see another Dragon Age after 2, after TOR is out anyway, and any potential new IP will probably have sufficient buzz to do well, being from "The Creators of MASS EFFECT".

And really, from what little i've heard, the game is bland, but has the Star Wars appeal and is, of course, from "The Creators of MASS EFFECT", so it could honestly go either way.

They arent inspiring much confidence at this point, when it comes to another masterpiece after ME3, (which wont be a masterpiece probably).

Five years, I believe. They'd been working on it since at least Jade Empire.

Perhaps. But there was a moment there when apparently World of Warcraft's popularity led game developers to believe that (subscription-based) MMOs were the next big thing. I'm not sure that's true. But hopefully it will do at least respectably.

I'm not trying to judge TOR. It's not really something i'm interested in; just repeating what i've heard from the grapevine. I'm just saying that if the game itself is lackluster, the star wars lore coupled with potentially good writing could be enough to keep it going.

I disagree. ME 2 was stellar IMO and from what I've seen ME 3 looks to be just as good.

Exacly. The Old Republic is going to return investment money in the first or second year feeding only from the hype already build, Star Wars nerds, and BioWare fanboys. Opinions about it being bland is based only on assumptions of people who are, like half of this community resentful towards MMOs and multiplayer in general and hardcore WoW fans, while everyone who had time with the game on a live demo or as a beta tester says otherwise.

Note the AFTER ME3.

ME3, ya. From preorders alone they probably already have a hit on their hands.
What comes after? Well once all the DLCs are done and over with and Bioware goes onto its next projects, it's going to be difficult to live up to ME's standard.

Conspiracy theories aren't always true. Man i hate to repeat myself

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I believe the term he is looking for is more along the lines of naysayer.

*Tries to remember what naysayer meant*
*Can't remember*
*Googles it*
Yeah that's a better word for what I was trying to say this time. I stand by my conspiracy theory statement the first time I used it though.:D

It wasn't actually in full development for six years, but there were people working on it for that period; true. But you can be rest assured DA:O made more profit than ME2. However; you're right EA are not doing well. They need huge successes to recoup the money spent on all their developer acquisitions. ME2's 3.4 million sales or so simply isn't going to cut it. They are looking for COD's 10 million plus. It's never going to happen.

Yep because aperently Valve fans, side scroller fans, *shudders* "casual gamers", MMOers and all those other fans are just not as easily grouped up.
