I have trouble playing DAO again. Its not anything to do with DA2 really. Or even the combat speed. (Never had issue with it) I'm just so burned on it I can't force myself past Ostagar.[/quote]

Ditto - I'm basically burned out on DA:O having played it three full times or so with a fourth unfinished run. It was a great game, but I've done everything I can possibly do, and the different origins do not freshen things up for me at this point. Also, the changes in DA2 that I approved of (voiced protagonist who actually emotes, faster combat, etc.) did magnify my issues with things that I didn't enjoy in the first game. I always did hate shuffling around in combat, heh.

It's the auto-attack in DA:O that kills me.
That and the deep roads/fade.
But then again, I could say that about DA2 and Lothering or all the cave crawling.

But the story of origins is superior to DA2's story. And the characters <3
And so I will keep on playing to have my revenge upon Howe and his bird-like face.
But bird-like in a beautiful origin art style way.

I just can't. I've been spoiled by the stylish fight gameplay and voiced protagonist, that I can't go back and playthrough Origins. I tried but got quickly bored by how slow everything suddenly felt.

Don't get me wrong I played the hell out of Origins before DA2, but now it just seems so slow moving and not engaging.

Has anyone felt this way?

are you being sarcastic? da2 sucks ass:huh:

One thing I truly miss in DAO and the older games is DA2s ranged tactic where the guy "scoots and shoots." Other than that, I really don't have a preference. It's either slow sometimes sluggish combat or fast combat dozens of additional trash mobs spawning on me. Fights end up being the same in length.

I am currently playing through the first of my "NEVER DELETE THIS" Wardens. I think I've been at it for almost a month now. I could have been done faster but I can't find it in me to play sometimes. Slow combat is definitely a part of it. Still I haven't allowed myself to play anything other than DA:O because I really want this import already.
Curse my need to delete all my saves!

DAO is by far the better game to me.

But after DA2, yeah, you notice how slow the game's combat is.

For DAO2/DA3, they need the combat to be faster than Origins but slower than DA2.

You do realize then the people who loved DA:2s combat will be whining and moaning when DA:3 comes out and the combat is tweaked.

Oooh, all of TWO people will be mad.

I haven't played DA2 yet. I'm doing my fifth and final run through DA:O (and my "canon" one), then perhaps I'll move on to DA2.

And I know what you folks mean by getting "burnt out" on it, too. I have to take frequent breaks from the gameplay on my current run, just because I've been through it so many times before. Four full playthroughs (soon to be five), plus several unfinished ones have taken their toll on me.

Huh sucks for you OP. I'm happily trucking through DAA right now.

...Trying to go back to DA2 though...it's torture.

Lol, that happened to me as well I hadn't played DAO in a while.  About 4 days before DA2 release, I deleted all my DAO saves thinking that I'll run a fresh playthrough for import.  Barely finished in time even when using runscript_killallhostiles.  If you've played DAO several times, you can try this http://social.biowar...m/project/4242/  It worked for me since I wanted a Dalish Warden but never had enough time to play one.

The slow combat is pretty hard to go back to, plus I've beaten the game... 7 or 8 times already.  Even before DA2 came out, the only class I played in Origins was rogue archer, which soured my role-playing experience a bit.  Nothing wrong with archers, of course, but it gets old when they comprise half of your finished Wardens.

It got to the point where I just couldn't bear to play anything but an archer.  Melee combat was painfully, torturously slow.  If I did have any ranged people with me, they'd kill the enemies before my melee guys could gorilla-shuffle their way over to them.  The mage's attack animation was also painfully slow.

I'm not saying DA2's combat was perfect by any means, but I would pick the silly speedy attacks over the dangerous shuffleboard game my Wardens engaged in any day.

Too bad I'm a console/Mac player at the moment. At least I'm almost done with this playthrough.

Oh gosh... I'm never going back to Origins... Unless I get it on PC and get some mods to skip the abysmal Ostagar quest. I just can't bring myself to redo this quest all over again every time I do a new play-through. I actually have no problem with the Fade because it looks short, compared to Ostagar's quest.

It's more that I'm so burned out by DAO. Going through my canon Warden's playthrough at the moment, and I reached Denerim pre-Landsmeet before I got bored and went to another game. The slowness in combat is very noticeable, and especially if you play a mage a lot as I do. Playing mage in DAO is boring. Not even the good old Arcane Warrior could peak my interest. :(

Well, since I always regarded Origins as boring, I will never even replay it.

Has nothing to do with DA2, which I enjoyed way more than Origins.

Although I hated DA2. I only just started playing Origins again after a few months, simply because I have completed it multiple times and it starts to become a little boring. Generally I give games like origins a rest after a few playthroughs, so I can come back to it fresh, or it gets a little stale after the sixth consecutive playthrough back to back.

I wish that you could just copy and paste DA2's combat into Origins, then I'd be set. Maybe throw in the slightly stronger banter as well :P

Believe it or not, I actually prefer playing a sluggish sword-and-board tank over all other character types. I wasn't impressed with the mage class too much, and I felt the dual-wielding rogue was far too overpowered (especially the cunning-based build I was using). I've never played an archer for my PC, but using Leliana as an archer turned me off to playing one regardless - same situation with two-handers while using Sten or Oghren.

Anyway, the parts of the game that tend to bore me the most are Lothering, and pretty much all of the side quests in Denerim. Everything else is entertaining enough, especially Orzammar.

Only thing I dread about DAO is the goddamn Fade.

Other than that, I'd jump into it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I hadn't played it since December. I think I need a longer break from it.

Ah, well then I applaud you for not being lazy like me. Although for me the Deep Roads is a tad worse. An outpost is sorely needed somewhere down there. Darkspawn merchant anyone?
