Nope.

I've burned through a few more playthroughs in DA:O, and I do miss some things from DA2 (combat, skill trees, better tactics, voiced protagonist, etc), the story and quests still pull me back in.

I always get the controls mixed up. I try to go to the inventory by pressing the select button, but then I remember that I can't do that on DA2. Or when I want to level up I keep hitting the select button, but its not like that on DA2. But I haven't got burned out yet.

The Only Reason i can't replay Origins again is because i have beat it over 15 times, it has nothing to do with combat, in fact, it has absolutely nothing to do with Dragon Age 2, it has been like this all my life.

i will Play Origins Again, eventually, just like i'm currently repalying some older games (BG2, then PS:T after years, and then Deus Ex in preparation for DE:HR. Well, the complete version(yes i got the Beta...... Deal with it)

I have trouble replaying DAO. There is nothing specific really, its just hard to do sometimes. Its a long game, which is not bad but still hampers replays, the game gets off to a slow start depending on the origin, combat is stiff and I hate the fracking dogs and spiders who make battles longer than they need to...

Mods help, like the ones that remove the fade and the like, but I still have trouble going back to my game. Its just sitting there on my harddrive waiting for me to play it... but I havnt touched it in a long time.

I've had that problem. I went back to my half finished mage playthrough ... first battle I got into she prodded her staff anaemically forward and her staff blast meander lazily across the field... and I was in the Brecilian forest - again.

I don't know why I thought that since I've been in the same cave in different places in DA:O about a billion times ... it might just be that quest I dislike (well the fact that you have to backtrack about four times to get everything done and sell the loot). And I'm thinking "I remember the High Dragon fight being so exciting... I hope I can stay awake through it this time".

And Orzammar's politics nonsense (on the plus side, Oghren)

I keep thinking "I'm going to do a rogue playthrough and romance Alistair and bring Sten and Shale on all my adventures and it'll be awesome!" Even typing that makes me want to do it... but I can never bring myself to play it. It's sad really. I don't know what's wrong with me - there's no reason I shouldn't enjoy it anymore, not really. :(

I noticed it a lot when I went back to DA:O to finish the last few achievements (I just need to beat the two dlc bosses on hard, now) I needed (1000 darkspawn kills, heavy hitter were the two I got) and I kept dying...strange, since I made it through my last playthrough without dying at all. I kept forgetting how to pace the battles and how slow stuff was...

I keep meaning to back and do a fourth playthrough, but meh when I think about the Fade and a couple of other quests that last forever and my Warden with the permanently straight face.

On the other hand, DA2...I love that game. On my eighth playthrough and loving it.

Let me remind everyone that the profanity filter exists for a reason, and trying to circumvent it by changing letters to asterisks is not something we look upon kindly.

If you can't express yourself on these forums without implied profanity, then please refrain from posting. Thanks.

I have felt this as well...which is actually a damn shame, considering my love of origins.

Nope. Although i prefer the slightly faster paced combat in DA2, the differing ways you can play DAO really makes each playthrough special. In DA2, Anders will always be there healing, Fenris will always be the small elf with the huge sword and Isabella will always be the useless rogue who can't use a bow. The fact that each character plays the EXACT sane role in each playthrough kills replayability after the first couple playthroughs.

I didn't reply Origin because I beat it few times already. I will come back later probably. I often do this kind of things with RPG. Right now I'm playing KOTOR 1 again and Baldurs Gate 2. On the other hand - I barely finish 1 session with DA II and I never return to that game.

Voiced thing i can go either way on, combat wise it's very slow, especialy with rogue early on and the brisker pace of missions in DA2 really highlights how much the ones in Origins just drag on foorrreeevvvvveeeeerrrrrrrr uugggghhhhhhhhhh, plenty of time to take in the atmosphere when it won't freaking end!

i understand how you feel. Personally i feel DAO is a better game but i also feel that DA2 had a lot of good quilities going for it. The combat is faster and i really like that. I went back to playing a mage and honnestly it bored me, as a mage i want to feel powerful but just poking an enermy with my staff did look sort of silly. While saying that two handed warrior has lost that punch i used to get so now i just cannot play a two handed warrior but again plaing a two handed warrior in DAO was so damn slow.

I am honnestly so glad they fixed archer, it is now just so enjoyable and you really feel like you aretaking down that enermy. And i have always loved duel wielding daggers in both games, in DA2 it is a lot quicker and smoother so i enjoed that a whole lot.

So yes its strange going back to DAO but i do still enjoy it because the wardens feel more like my characters. Sure i do really enjo Hawke but honnestly all of em end up sounding the same. i wish so badly that we get a pick of VA in DA3 even just like a second voice would be better. I always end up playing as a female because i dont like the male voice as much.

I just can't. I've been spoiled by the stylish fight gameplay and voiced protagonist, that I can't go back and playthrough Origins. I tried but got quickly bored by how slow everything suddenly felt.

Don't get me wrong I played the hell out of Origins before DA2, but now it just seems so slow moving and not engaging.

Has anyone felt this way?

Still haven't completed DA:O once but I certainly know what you mean. The combat in Origins was just terribly sluggish and flawed, drains the fun right out. DA2 the combat felt very repetitive and stretched out by the ongoing waves but at least when I press a button something just happens and I don't have to wait five seconds just to begin a basic attack.

Basically, the only class I feel that isn't boring to play on DAO PS3 version is the warrior one, because it doesn't need that much skills and micromanagement. Setting everything on your character is a pain in your you-know-what, on console versions. Also you gotta switch them back on and off, depending on the situation... Bleh. Not my kind of stuff. In other words, warriors are just fine for me. So it's out of question that I'll do a rogue or a mage playthrough. I don't even bother giving stats properly to my NPCs, I just auto-level them up.

OPs reasoning is more or less verbetim why I can't play Origins anymore. Everything else I could stomach except for the slow........paced.........combat. I found it boring before. But after playing DA2, it was just neigh unbearable. My ID was actually yelling at me "C'mon bro!!! You're faster than this. They call this "tactical combat"? Puhleazzzze!!! A trained monkey could play this" lol.

Seriously though, I just simply found the combat in DA2 more "involving" than Origins' style of "Scan battlefield.....Discern tactics.....Click targets.....WATCH combat". Im "paraphrasing" there so to speak but that's essentially what it felt like. It's not the scanning the battlefield and finding tactics that bothers me, I enjoy that aspect. Rather, it was other than monitoring HP/MP/STA and occasionally hitting an ability or spell, you pretty much had no active role in combat.

Even though in DA2 you're simply "actively" autoattacking by pressing a single button. But to me, it adds a bit of an extra dynamic to the already tactical combat or Origins. Because now, not only do I have to monitor the battlefield (ala Origins) But now I have to take an actual "active" role in combat by manually attacking with my weapon along with the usual activation of spells and talents. Translation; I cant sleep through combat in DA2 like I could in Origins (quite literally in some cases even on nightmare).

But, to some folks I suppose, playing a semi-passive role in combat is enough. Which is fine if that's they're proverbial cup of tea. Me however, I need a little bit more than simply issuing commands now and again to sate my thirst for combat lol.

Can't wait to see all the people like you complain when they tweak the cmbat for Dragon Age 3.

A few things:

First and foremost, Im not like alot of folks on here that storm the forums and whine and complain when I dont get what I want.  I simply accept that something's been changed and move on (For the most part.) Secondly, if you're delusional enough to think that Origins combat is verbetim making a comeback for the next DA game, then you are simply that, delusional.  Thirdly, I dont plan on buying the next DA game to begin with.  I'll end up renting it from gamefly, playing through it a few times, and then sending it back.  The only thing that would change my mind about that is the implementation of NG+.  Which Im already fairly certain ISNT going to happen.

So no, I WONT be complaining if combat is changed or tweaked.  The only way I'd even slightly think about complaining  is if by some bizarre reason, it went back to being Origins in terms of combat.  And as Ive said already, ISNT going to happen.  Just like folks who want their stoic PC back, arent getting that either.  In the end, would I be disappointed if combat went back to being snail paced? Yes.  Would I storm the forums like your typical forumite to rant and rave about how "I am disappoint" ? Definitely not.  But again, that's just hypothetically speaking because at worst, we'll be getting a "hybrid" of the two systems for the next DA game so I honestly, have nothing to worry about.

You, on the other hand, probably do seeing as how you are seemingly thinking that they are indeed going back to snail paced combat.  So, I'll reciprocate your sentiments and say that I, in fact, can't wait to see YOUR reaction when Im right. ^_^

@PresidentCowboy - He's a priq to start with.  Even as a Warden.  Seconly, he's a whiny priq.  Thirdly, let's see....Oh yea, he's a whiny priq.  Seriously, everytime Carver opens his mouth, all I hear is "Wahhhh!!!! Im stuck in my brother's shadow and can't do anything about it!!!" or "Grrrr!!! Im a sodding priq and I have something to prove to everyone because I have self-esteem issues, Grrrr!!!!"  I made the mistake of letting him live during my first playthrough of the game.  Now, I almost always leave him to die in the deep roads.

No, I totally DON'T feel like this, OP. Not at all. Instead, I recently played DAO again and was delighted. I played almost only using the overhead view, on nightmare, and it brought back very pleasant memories (Baldur's gate, Icewind dale).

I like a lot of things in DAO, major exception the slow combat.

I like a lot of things in DA2, major exception the waves and slightly OTT combat.

Get the best from both for DA3 and i'll be a happy man.

I had exactly the same experience! I loved Origins, but can never play it again after having played DA2.

Nope. I still play DA:O on occasion. It feels more tactical, although the combat in DA2 isn't bad.

EDIT:  Almost forgot until someone mentioned it above.  The ability to go to overhead.  Miss that so much from DA:O.  It makes setting up combat and selecting enemies so much easier.

I can play both; enjoyed showing my brother the story and grandeur of DAO recently in fact. While combat differences do not sway me, I do miss hearing full VO even though I adored the dialogue of the prequel more. Personally, I commend the VO choices fom both games, and hope that talent will be heard in all funture Bioware products.
