I've only completed Origins once. I'm on my 5th playthrough of DA2.

edited because it got moved to the right place.Image IPB  I have the same trouble with DA2. I have played through all the way twice. Legacy had me start another, yet I haven't gone back to complete DA2 after I finished the DLC yet.

I just replay  DAO. To see again if I would feel the same as you. And not at all. This game still gives me as much enthusiasm and excitement as before. I crossed the TRUE deep road, and admired the precision of  details, the wonder of their design and the thrill that came with their dark atmosphere.

Being able to change the equipment of my companions as I will, equip them with intelligence.

The fights are slower, but realism is still there, so I'm not embarrassed.

And obviously to see good graphics realistic is cool. glad to see  Elves beautiful as the lore told us, well designed dwarves, TRUE darkspawn frightening and too cool. To benefit from the interaction of my companions when I want.

No, definitely, I do not share your opinions. Unlike DAII, I can replay that game at any time. :P

I just can't. I've been spoiled by the stylish fight gameplay and voiced protagonist, that I can't go back and playthrough Origins. I tried but got quickly bored by how slow everything suddenly felt.

Don't get me wrong I played the hell out of Origins before DA2, but now it just seems so slow moving and not engaging.

Has anyone felt this way?

Yes me too.

I found even more tedious little facts like the necessity to reach the camp for checking if the reputation with the companion increased enough for some new dialogue (and inevitably finding out that alistair is still blocked to the "such as their are" quote).

I am still replaying DAO, over and over again, all origins. Still fun, still brings enjoyment. So much detail, so much going on.

I can replay Origins and DAII. They both have their merits and their flaws in terms of story, gameplay, etc. DAO always infuriates me when I play as Xanthos Aeducan.

Dammit he should've been able to take the throne of Orzammar.... *grumble grumble*. I'd happily pay for a DLC that allowed for him to do that. And that DLC could come with a Human Noble quest to Highever, a Dalish quest to old Elven ruins, and other quests specific to your origin story.

The only quest I got as my Dwarf Noble was "Can you get me and your son back into the Aeducan home? Or the Harrowmont home?"

I feel just the opposite.

Forcing myself through the first (and only) play-through of DA2 was as much as I could do, even with a friend onboard. I said WTF more times during the experience than the whole rest of my gaming life, and frequently exited the game with a sigh because I couldn't stand another minute.

I thought it played like some sort of Tekken/Mass Effect/Final Fantasy chimaera, and combat amounted to rotating the camera around too much to try and compensate for the horrible restricted third person OTS view and bad camera angles - not to say that it was hard. It was like having a kill-bot that did everything for me, but only being able to see what it was doing through a rolled up newspaper.

It was boring, brainless, superficial and easy, with a flashy but vulgar visual sheen on it. I guess that's how you appeal to the lowest common denominator or something, since that seems to be how the LCD likes its games, celebrities and TV. Not my bag.

Origins, on the other hand, well I hated the fade but wished the Deep Roads had more combat to offer. It was just, all-round, a solid game. I can reel off tactics loadouts and builds I used for any number of situations in the game, and I still remember the joy of busting *that* revenant's chops on my first play through.

I can't imagine an RPG combat experience being more superlatively inferior to every decent RPG around than DA2s, playing DA:O after DA2 was like having a shower after escaping from a dirty canal.

I guess it takes all sorts to make a world, even mine.

Loved origins before DAO. I still love it in a way, but I just can't play it. Everything feels so slow compared to origins, not just the combat. DA2 really spoiled me forever. I am trying to finish my mage playthrough but I have to play in short doses to manage it.

Oh, and I don't think speed hinders tactical combat. I play tactically just fine. There is a pause button after all. If something happens too fast, just press it...

Playing Origins is like eating a very delicious cake despite being so full of cake that it doesn't really taste that good anymore and frosting starts pouring out of my nostrils.

I only played DA:O once on the Xbox but after I stole my brother's PC version, I've been playing on it pretty much everyday. I do slightly prefer DA2 because I really enjoy having a voiced protagonist and the new combat. Although I do enjoy the party members in DA2, I find they aren't as interesting as they were in DA:O. They all seem to have one topic that they constantly go on about: Anders - Freedom for mages and all that jazz, Fenris - Hatred for mages, etc. I miss cheeky Zev! :o
So I do still play and enjoy DA:O but I find certain aspects of DA2 much better. :)

When I first tried dao, it took me a bit to get into the game.

5 - 6 play throughs later, still a fantastic game.

When I first played da2, immediately hated the limited camera view, no more tactical view and I still hate that to this day. I have a pc NOT a console!! 2 play throughs later, I'm done with da2.......too simplified and many things and features taken away.

have 3 origins playthrus and one da2. The story and companions in origins are more interesting. mages and crazy qunari not so much. I would play more but ever since i got the ultimate edition the origins dlc always corrupts my 360s hard drive.

I can't play Origins again either because I know the only thing I have to look forward to after it is Dragon Age 2.

The opposite. I'm afraid to return to DAO before I get through DA2, because I worry that I won't be able to tolerate DA2's design once I've seen DAO in action again.

I can replay truly great games pretty much forever. DAO seems to have fallen neatly into that group, along with BG, KotOR, and NWN.

After completing DA2 at last (act 3 was a struggle just because of my constant facepalming) I went through DA:O again and mucked about with some mods and stuff. The combat takes a little more getting used to (forgot FF is standard in DA:O) and is a bit slower but the tactics and scope of it more than makes up for the speed. Little things like the party camp and being able to talk to companions whenever the hell I want to adds so much to the game. I also prefer to know what my character is going to say rather than having to guess.

Oh and the companions not being total tools and/or idiots gets a thumbs up from me as well.

While I can and have played DAO again after playing DA 2, I understand where people who can't are coming from. To be honest though, as much as I loved Dragon Age Origins I have a hard time playing it again anyway, no matter what DA 2 was like. I've completed it twice and am near the end for a third try but that all felt like it collectively required a great deal of effort to force myself. I suspect I could tolerate playing through Dragon Age 2 more times than the first game, even if it isn't quite as good overall.

Well, DA2 is a lot shorter than Origins for a start.

I went back and played Awakenings because I wanted a better import for DA2 (not that it made a huge difference), and I have to say that doing that was easier than going back all the way to Origins. I think the higher level character made a bit of a difference. That being said, it seemed really slow in comparison to DA2. I haven't gone back to Origins. I can also say that I managed to start a ton of games in Origins, but only finished three I think. I've done seven or eight of DA2. It just works better for me.

What you describe is not "necessity" by any means -- the new dialogues in DAO generally open whenever you reach new stage of the relationship with the character, something which is associated with a large "so and so gains such and such bonus" splash screen when it happens, pretty hard to miss. Bulk of that dialogue can also be accessed without actually having to reach the camp, since it's standard dialogue which can be initiated anywhere.

Same here, DA2 just seems more fluid, and voiced main character is just so much more appealing than my silent warden. DAO is still the better game though, i've managed to play almost 7-8 playthroughs in origins before it started to get irritating.. For DAII i started to get bored after the 3rd run =\\......The whole game just feels like being trapped in a slightly larger version of Denirim.

After completing DA2 for the first time I immediately went back to play DAO again. I admit that DA2 has faster combat but I missed my character interactions, having different armor for each of my companions and a storyline that at least had me interested. But DAO reminded me again of why I was dissapointed in DA2.
