Is there a mod that would all you play DAO like a “choose your own adventure”, meaning cutting out all the battles? I would like to run a new character, but I just want to play through the story/plot parts.
Thanks!
Is there a Battleless MOD?

heh heh...
i've often contemplated that, myself. skip all that video game stuff and just get to the GOOD PARTS!
i can't help you, because i don't know the answer to that one. a project like that might be very daunting. i do know there is a 'skip the fade' mod, which is a godsend. you get all the bonuses, and you get to interact with your companions who are trapped in the fade, but you get to skip all that running around back and forth like a rat in a maze. (oh wait... you ARE a rat in a maze in that part. and fire creature, and steel golem, and spirit....)
you might also try running the game with console commands. you can add extra members to your party with it (great fun, i can attest), and they will pretty much take care of all the battles with no problem. and, of course, there is the kill_all_hostiles console command. that will instakill everything in your current area. that's hostile, anyway.
check on the builder wiki for the console commands, on how to run it and some good commands for it. oh wait, i think i have a link...

oh, some people can't see any text in the console; there's a fix for that on the da nexus somewhere. (my console always worked, so i don't know exactly where the fix is or what it is called.)

I just started to add mods to my game and “Skip the Fade” was the first I added.
BloodsongVengeance, thanks for the tips about the console. I have added the mod for the font to show the console and have looked at the commands. Now I need to figure out what goes when/where/how.

bueno!
make sure you fixed your game shortcut to activate the console (the wiki page tells you how).
then, whenever you want it, hit the ~ key. so like when you enter the tower of ishal, you hit that (pause first), then type in "runscript killallhostiles" and hit enter. unpause, boom they die, then run to the next level. you see anybody attacking you, hit it again.
now... i have no idea what that does to your xp. and your level progressions, or if you care about all that.
you can adjust all that with the console, as well.

sound like a really boring way to play the game. I can see a reason for people that have problems with a specific battle to skip it by using such a command but removing every enemy and you got a very very empty game.

but you could simply add a heartbeat script that kills everything hostile nearby. or set them to have 1 HP, if you want to actually do the killing blow.

CID-78, I just want to play the story. I wouldn’t say boring; I have played this game completely more then what my profile shows. I have determined after playing DA2 (yes, I liked both Dragon Ages) that the combat is boring (too slow for me – and DAO will never be updated). Thank you for the suggestion.
BloodsongVengeance, I think can use the save game editor to fix the XP/leveling. Thanks for your help.
