Okay, here goes possibly dumb but definately desperate question:

We can only obtain the N7 edition by pre-ordering it??? :crying:

No the N7 edition isn't a pre-order exclusive.  But the belief is that the Collectors Edition has a limited number of copies so by the time it gets released it is entirely possible there will be no N7 Collector Editions left for you to buy.  So the only way to ensure you get a copy of the Collectors Edition is to pre-order it.

Amazon has them available (or had them, as far as I know). You could try ordering at Gamestop as well (or at both, and then wait for the bonus the retailers get, and just cancel the other order. That was my plan, but I´m too lazy to order the game at gamestop as well xD).
Well then, since I live in Europe, which are the shops available for me to preorder?

I got the digital deluxe on queue right now, but I might get both it and the boxed collector edition for 360. If what I think is going to happen doesn't happen, then I'm just going to get the physical collector's for PC.

Seriously, is there anyone who thinks ME3 won't be a good game? Is the hiprocrisy that bad in this place? Sheesh.....

Bioware needs to cater to the old school fans that brought them this far.
So that means Crappy inventory system that has no place in the game.
And boring mako planets.
If Bioware brought those back they would eat it up.

They haven't really abandoned the inventory, its just that its now been made interactive. If you want to go change your armour you go to your armor in your room and customize it. If you want to change your weapon mods walk up to the work bench in the armoury and customize your gun. If you want to get new pieces of armour go to a store and buy some. If you want to upgrade your weapons or armour in ME2 you could do that through the research terminal.

You didn't loose the options the inventory gave you, you just lost the fact it was all accessible through an inventory system.

I don't see how anyone can say with a straight face that any game is guaranteed to be great.

Also if someone didn't enjoy the second game and finds out the third game is mostly like the second, why would they get it. Why would spend money for something that they know they may not enjoy, and then suffer through it just to see how things end. It would be a waste of money and beyond dumb. They wouldn't even have a right to complain because they knew what they were getting.

Having said that, none of this has anything to do with why I'm not pre-ordering it. The last three games I pre-ordered have sucked, not been marginal, I just did not have fun playing them. So I'm in a play before I pay mode, and that's just how it's going to be. I'll let my friends get them first and test on theirs.

I preordered from EA, which is what I did for ME2. I received a package the day before release with the game.. so.. I'm hoping that come March 5th, or March 6th, around 10am, I'll receive a delivery and not even having to leave my house.

And if you loved Mass Effect, and then loved Mass Effect 2 as well.. could you not say that you'll love Mass Effect 3?  Games can easily be guaranteed to be great.  Not a lot of games, mind you.  And I would say new licenses/ip are some of the most volatile.. but when you love a series, I think it's easy to say the third game will be great (provided you loved the previous ones).

No, I don't think any game is guaranteed to be good.  They could show a Vanguard demo next week, and say they thought Charge was overpowered so they tweaked nerfed it.  THis board would crash from the insuing topic

People haven't even seen all the classes in action yet.  No details on how this workbench will work, no details on the level up system.  No details on the story and rightfully so.  But it doesn't even have to be about gameplay mechanics, they could wrap the story up in dumb way.  So no, I don't think anything is a guarantee, especially 7 months out from release.

I'm just holding out hope that EA and valve can settle their knockdown dragout and that it will be available on steam although I have no aversion to getting it on origin as i've had it since it was just EA download manager.

LOL your preaching to the quior.  I hated the Loot in the first game.  I'm just saying that some people hated the second game because there wasn't loot EVERYWHERE you know because that armor I find early in the game is like the best one and thats better somehow.

I know, it always puzzled me why the geth just left the best armour in the galaxy, in Shepards size, just laying around in some locker they had in the middle of a battle field.

I'm going to get the collectors edition but I hope it doesn't come with some kind of super armour we can wear right at the beginning of the game. I like to work for my upgrades.

I'm quite looking forward to opening it all up for the first time. Not so much looking forward to my 360 taking about an hour to install the whole thing onto the HDD.

That's not at all true.  No amount of previous good games ever guarantee that the 3rd (or nth) installment will be an instant buy and a great game.

An example: Many thought that Halo 3 was a terrible game compared to Halo:CE and Halo 2 - despite it not actually changing very much at all.  Some just felt that it had a shocking conclusion to the story, was too short, and not well designed (I'm only speaking of the campaign, to clarify).  It is well and truly possible that ME3 will be a shockingly bad conclusion to the story from the perspective of some players, however unlikely you may think that is.

The real thing to bear in mind is that different players enjoy different things in games, and expect different things.  For another example, some players will be crushed if ME3 does not feature a wedding and children at the end - while others will be disappointed beyond all belief if this is included.

I'm going to get it on Steam post-release. Unless it's not on Steam. In which case, I'll be pretty broken up for a few hours and likely buckle, forsaking my principles to buy it from Origin.

This.  Or D2D, in preference to Origin, if they have it.  Incredibly annoyed at the Steam/E imbroglio.
