Something I think would be cool is the ultimate Paragon or Renegade choice, you must choice between Shepards life and the entire Normabdy crew.

But I would die if that happens to me in ME3.
And as to Aaleels comment, My happy ending is going pirating with Jack

I could see Shepard having to go alone into dark space to destroy the Reaper command station, but it's a one way trip; he has to put himself in stasis out there and just hope someone will stumble upon him one day. Totally a rip off of Halo, but hey, it's cool enough so that I wouldn't mind.

ME3 is upon us, and no one knows what will happen. My question is, do you think Shepard will canonically die? Would be an interesting ending to the Legend of Shepard.

uh......**** no
what the **** is it with this trend that in order to make the end "mean" something or be "mature" or "not a disney ending" the hero has to die (or be a total jerk like in FO3 or be royally ****ed over)?
No, I spent LITERALLY 100's of hours on EACH of the Mass Effect games and yes do want my goddamn happy ending

But I would be greatly annoyed if Shepard dies no matter what.

Not a surprise - you come across as a happy go lucky mother****er.

Too many people are expecting to be married at the end. More are expecting nothing but a happy ending where everyone lives.
It'll never happen.
lol, Shepard will never get married/have kids in-game, even in an ending scene. That would not in any way fit with the overall tone of the story.
If I know Bioware, the most likely outcome for Shepard, is that he/she mysteriously disappears a few months after the end of ME3.

Shepard already did canonically die. It was just a minor setback. If Shepard dies again he can just be Lazarused again. Death isn't final and frankly thanks to ME2 opening scenes, it's meaningless and without impact.
That is of course, assuming the body can be recovered. If Shepard was say incinerated by a Reaper laser, there would be no Lazurus project to bring him/her back.

I'm not going to take it (unless there's an achievement involved...), but I'm sure some sick person will.

no, I simply refuse to play a story over and over again in which my character (regardless of my choices) dies at the end

It will be the last one with Shepard.Utow wrote...
I'm not sure about one thing, is it actually confirmed that ME3 will be the last one and that there will be no ME4 with certainty?
Officially, Bioware have said nothing which suggests a ME4 will happen. They only claim they'll continue the IP, which could mean just more comic books and merchandise.

I think most of us have spent alot of time on these games. I wasn't trying to follow a trend, I just feel it would be the bittersweet ending ME would likely have. The happiest this ending will be is Shepard and his/her love interesting repopulating the galaxy

But it would still lack impact, since we've all seen Shepard die in the line of duty. Killing the protagonist of a story isn't something one should do lightly, and Bioware did it. Now it has cheapened any "heroic sacrifice" that could be made at the conclusion of the trilogy.Boiny Bunny wrote...

ME3 will be the last ME game involving Shepard. That's it, all that we know. Which doesn't really mean anything. Heck, EA may well give the next ME game to DICE to make a BF style game for all we know.
Or we could get the same sort of thing as Halo 4.
i.e. Oh no, the Reapers weren't really a threat at all! They were just a joke compared to these other things that created them which are now coming to destroy the galaxy! You can stop them in ME4/5/6!

You mean, there would be no need for a Lazarus Project :
