And apparently nudity "isn't mature" either.

Just shows how the ones claiming to be "mature" are the complete opposite by claiming that.

Even people here are falling into the over-reactive bunch! Kill all you like, push people out of windows and light them on fire. But the SECOND someone shows a nipple, it's pornography? Really?

I think it is less about overreaction and more about people thinking those who want this are truly pathetic and cant understand why it seems to keep coming up by a select couple people.

At least that is how I am reading their comments.

Not a big fan of Lost and the Damned, I take it.

Yes, that's the tactic they're using but in doing so they're just siding with the knee-jerk 'But what about the CHILDREN?!' crowd that got us here to begin with, that even slight levels of nudity are obscene.

Yeah.... No need to sex up the games any more than they are. That's not why I(and I imagine most mature players) play games, or like Mass Effect.

Story is all it needs. If there were never a sex scene in either game, I wouldn't miss it. The romance is fine the way it is.... Although, they may have gone a bit too far into the interspecies relations, but I'm not complaining.

Grow up. Sex is part of being Human. Don't want it? Don't do it (you have a choice). But don't pretend it's being forced on you.

EXACTLY! It is part of being HUMAN, not part of pretending to be a human in a video game. Wow, amazing how one can differentiate between real sex and uber fake pixel boobies.

It's not about that silly!

I think such pursuits will sacrifice other, more vital parts of the game! EA only gives them so much time to get that crap shipped! And you would jeopardize core elements of the game so that you can play with a sticky controller! It's not about maturity or ethics. It's about prioritizing development. Hell, look at DA2!

Yes, you did.

"sex up games" - that's a general claim

Everything else would point to it being forced to someone who has never played ME.

Again, grow up.

It is being thrown around rather aimlessly.

Nudity doesn't automatically mean mature. Nor does it mean better. It won't add anything to the game, or romance subplot. No need to put it there, just because you can. Makes the experience cheap.

And then, therere the kids who might be playing and blah blah blah....

You can see REAL ****** in a PG-13 movie. You should be able to see animated ****** in an M rated game, but people want to make a big debate about it, **** ain't logical.

The "It's M rated so it should be able have nudity" arguement is really stupid and immature. In Mass Effect, nudity needs to be treated respectfully. Nudity has to actually add to the scene, not just be there for titillation.

The scenes between Geralt and Triss in the Witcher 2 demostrate this perfectly. Here (NSFW) when we see Triss for the first time, Geralt's reaction to waking up from his nightmare and seeing Triss tells us a lot about their relationship before we even know who this woman is. This (NSFW) scene starts out well, and if it ended at 2:44, it would have been another mature scene. But after that, it shows sever cuts of Triss and Geralt in different positions that don't actually add to the emotion of the scene, and they're just there to show naked people.

As I said before, the scenes in Mass Effect 2 wouldn't have been improved with nudity. We've already seen Garrus and Shepard share an intimate moment when they touch heads. We don't need to see Shepard's butt while she's crawling over Garrus.

In what way does nudity add to a scene?  The part in bold doesn't require nudity to show anything.  So what does nudity add to a scene?  People keep stating that something has to have some kind of importance in order for it to be used.

As a counterpoint, what does gore add to a scene?  Seeing as that's readily acceptable I have to ask because it boggles the mind.  Because anything has a 18+ rating doesn't mean it needs nudity, but it doesn't mean that it can't have it.  Any statement saying that 18+ requires nudity, while literally flawed, is spiritually sound considering the flawed circumstances in which sex and violence are shown and the reasons for it.  Why can I watch a guy's head explode, but a bare breast is a no-no.

ETA part in italics.

No, you don't know what it's about. We're not discussing data constarints here, but the amoral aspect of the issue.

Conversly, the argument could be made that nudity would make the romances more real and thus more believable and thus makes them better and thus the game better. Ipsofacto nudity makes the game better.

I can't believe some of what I'm reading, since when does nudity, in context, make something immature?

In all honesty, it would be better if you leave comments in bold out of any statements you make because it's ultimately immature.  And that is ironic considering how the image you paint with those words would lead someone to believe that said person with the controller is not in the least mature.

I don't see in which side you stand, but I agree if you're pro-nudity. Violence is just one side of the coin, the other being affection. What does affection create? see where Im going. They're part of being human.

If it wasn't that they claim nudity to be wrong, then I wouldn't care. They just don't want it. But they do claim it's wrong, yet they do it themselves if they have wifes/girlfriends/genitalia.

I want to prove those people wrong one day. Like I said, Humanity has a lot of growing up to do.

What? Seeing them bone doesn't make it more real.... I'm sure there are lots of real life romances out there, in which the couple would preffer not to be watched. :P

I expected it from GoT as it was exactly that way in the time setting believe it or not, that's why AC is unrealistic in that department.

As for DA, I didn't play it, but I saw one scene and the ackward moving scene with underwear? yeah, that's how it happens in real life.... two people, hugging in they're underwear. Right.

It's not that I didn't expect that sort of thing from the period, it's more that I wouldn't expect to see an American made show reveal that much. Full frontal nudidty tends to be reserved for red light films.

I doubt that the designers were looking for realistic sex scenes for DA:O so they went the underware route. Ultimately I suspect we'll see more ME 1 stylised sex scenes, "less is more". Sweaty backs, some butt cheaks and maybe side on boob shot.

A tasteful love scene, not animated porn heh.
