Item packs should be free. It takes next to no effort to create them, especially for professional developers.

So don't buy it then, why complain, for the PC there's plenty of modded equipment available so0 its not like we're wantingfor choice.

It's poor self-control. The first item pack was decent. It would stand to reason that the second set would be pretty good, too. After all, you're paying $5 for this stuff.

Unfortunatley, you don't get to see the stuff before you buy it. You're shown a couple of vague, blurry images and that's it. Could be anything. But you still want to be the first on your block to have the sweet gear, so you plunk down your $5 and find that it's the same gear as the previous DLC (Fenris's stuff is still massivly overpowered compared to everone else's, Anders's gear still applies trivial bonuses to stuff he's already good at while ignoring areas that could use some improvement. Etc.), just in different item slots. As for the PC gear, it's pretty much the same thing as the last DLC, too, except that the the art department made the models the same day somebody brought in the special brownies. It's supposed to be ancient Ferelden. Kinda wish it was more "Riders of Rohan" and less "Conan the Barbarian."

And with the second item pack, the low level gear and the high level gear shares the same models. Ugh.

Don't even get me started on the staff.

So, in the future, I will definitely wait until I see clear and detailed screenshots of the gear and the stats before I buy. But right now, I'm out $5. I do not forsee using much of anything in that pack. Except that I might get that mod that removes restrictions on follower gear and redistribute Fenris's stuff. He has too many toys.

And yes, I do plan to spend at least a little time today sketching out some ideas so I'm not just criticizing without offering suggestions for improvement.

Now this is a very fair and level-headed statement.

I agree. After messing around with the items in this new pack, I cant help but think laziness kicked in, especially with the armor models. The coolest looking gear by far is the stuff for the Rogue. The Mage is meh, and Warrior is okay. Item Pack 1 was much better in terms of actually making the armor sets uniquely modeled. And probably just aesthetic taste.

I love the warrior armor they made for this one. It has awesome design. Plus finaly a two hander that improves with levels. Beautiful.

The last pack had really crappy warrior armor, who wants that golden crap with feathers anyhows? Not to mention the black armor set you get on low levels was pretty much copy/paste from DA:O. Now this is what the warrior stuff should look like! And the hammer isn't overly large like the swords are. Very good from warrior standpoint.

It just came out and you want story? Shame on you! GO BUY THEIR DLC, I DEMAND IT, WE DEMAND, EA DICTATES IT.

Until enough people shell out money, i'm not guessing any hasty announcements.

If it is soon, it will be during PAX.

This item pack should be half the price of the first, because you shouldn't have to pay the same price for half the effort. I wag my finger at you bioware, for shame.

It will likely not be discussed until their panel on Saturday night.

Not sure if they'll consider it an "announcement" (with press and maybe a web page) or will just talk about it (sort of like they did with the item pack last week).

The mage armor looks ok, a bit too brown for me. Reminds me of the 1970's, but what would really make it work for me is if I could go to a Merchant and buy some black dye. Go to the potions tab, click the black dye and viola its all in black.

Just for the record I was underwhelmed by the item pack for the mage class, the rogue and warrior stuff I still have to see about. There wasn't really anything I would use in it that was better than the first Item pack, and the way the armor looked was a little meh for my taste. Just puttin' that out there.

Or you just may not be cut out for this. Hundreds, thousands, probably millions of people can do it. You can't. It's nothing to be ashamed of, you may just need to seek out a different career.

You go from making an intelligent post to just plain looking like an ass. Okay. Lets see here.

Oh, come on.  You throw around insults while I was just making a realistic assessment, from my POV.  I'm just saying that you appear to be impressed by Item Packs, & think they're good DLC's.  Do you dispute that?  Also, you said that learning to program was difficult for you.

You even said you only "program in my spare time".  I'm not being an ass.  I'm just being realistic.  You do it in your spare time & you found it difficult to learn.  These are true statements, yes?

I don't care if you believe I'm a programmer (I am, but not for games, for business software, but whether or not you believe me is irrelevant).  My point is that millions of people do it.  People put out "item packs" as MOD's for free, in their spare time.  Item Packs are trivial.

There are many sites, like Dragon Age Nexus, that also offer thousands of little downloadable additions to your PC game. This is no surprise, and I certainly wasnt addressing the modding community.

But I am.  That's the point.  I'm saying you should consider them.  And consider how easy it is (when the Toolset is available) to create them.  My point is that it's pathetic to put an Item Pack out as a DLC & charge money for it when if they'd just release the Toolset the MOD community would put out thousands of "Item Packs" for free.

Your standards are too low.  I didn't say "you can't program" - I just said you may not be cut out for it.  It's not an insult.  If you went to school to learn how to program & you're impressed by an Item Set, well, I stand by it: programming may not be for you.  You even said that you "pursue a wholly different career that doesnt involve computer programming knowledge", so it sounds like I was correct, from your own words.

I apologize if that sounds offensive.  It's not meant to be.  It's just meant to be a realistic assessment.

And what exactly do you think programming has to do with an item pack?

An item pack is art (those are brand new models) and design (plugging some numbers into the toolset).

Yes, modders can create items. They can steal and reskin models. And they can churn out whatever properties they want.

Making great new original models is not something most can do (and the toolset wouldn't facilitate their creation anyway), and it has nothing to do with programming.

Make most of the equipment in your story DLC useless.

Sell useful equipment in an entirely separate DLC.

Loving your business strategy, BioWare.

Playing a "complete" game nowadays compared to 5 years ago is a extremly water'd down experience, compare playing da:o without any of the dlc and your missing out on alot of the STORY of the game, making the whole game experience alot less then a full dlc run, same hold's true with mass effect 2.

That's bull. None of the DLC for either DAO or ME2 had anything to do with the main story, they were all self contained, therefore you didn't miss anything for not getting them.

Eh.. doesnt sound like you played any of them, stone prisoner, morrigan's dlc, return to ostagar and wardens keep all tie directly into the main story (and onwards like wardens keep potion in da2) and enhance it, playing without any of these dlc will  make da:o  a much more bland experience so saying you dont miss out on anything without them is pure bs if anything.

In ME2 the dlc have a lesser impact on the main plot however the two last dlc (blowing up a relay and tsoni dlc) both have major plot elements for ME3 so not getting those will once again make the main game a much weaker product.

For me Dragon Age (and ME) is alot about the story in the game and if the story is not revealed fully until they launched 4-5 dlc well then theres no point in actually buying the game until all of those are out, i dont really feel like playing through a game or pick up a old save just to run through a 1-2 hour long dlc run, and tbh its not a big deal for me as i have limited time to play games and even if it means i miss out on a game when its released and dont play it until its been out for a year or so its still a much better experience to play it "complete" then piecemeal (Bioware should take a long hard look at the fallout las vegas dlc like Dead Money and Old world Blues....thats what i call dlc)

Is Item Pack #2 any good for lvl25+ characters? :-)

I have finished Act 3 on both main characters. Only DLCs are left.
