I would have liked to have the option to import a DAO save even if my Warden didn't do the US simply because going to Amaranthine was something my Warden would never do. She never cared about the order one bit, she just wanted out.

Exactly this. I wasn't talking about the US at all actually. My Cousland Warden left and went travelling with Leliana and his dog at the end of DAO. Something they talked about quite a bit in their dreams for the future. He stopped one blight which was more than enough considering he was forced into service to begin with.

Well guess what buddy your warden doesn't have a choice because of a little thing called "the calling."  Your stuck in their service one way or another. Image IPB

Sure, your warden is eventually going to succomb to the taint and either die or go all ghoulish. That doesn't mean you have to be pro-wardens for the remainder of your days. My Cousland wanted to free Highever, ensure his brother's rule was secure and then spend time with his pretty little bard. He didn't want to take over Amaranthine, fight against an even more insidious group of darkspawn, wander around in some thaig for a dwarf he didn't even know and then track down Morrigan only to watch her vanish into a mirror while never seeing the demon spawn he begat onto the world.

No not really. One nice thing about being the last warden in Ferelden is that no one can really stop you from taking a permanent vacation if you were so inclined.

They should count themselves lucky he stuck around to take care of the last blight. Especially after being less than forthcoming on the 'details' about being a warden.

In the words of Uncle Ben from Spider Man, "With great power comes great responsibility." I wonder now though if Wardens keep track of other Wardens who go rogueish like Anders?

My Surana hears you. She only ruled Ameranthine as a favour to her friend Alistar, but once the darkspawn started to talk, she threw her hands in the air and went to Antiva as soon as she could. No more fighting darkspawn for her. She never went on a witchhunt or golem hunt. Morrigan said never to follow her, so she didn't.

Sorry, I'm a little late to the party. What did you do with Leliana's cute nug? Your Warden didn't leave it back at the campsite, did he? :D

If Bioware did make an expansion, I just hope it won't be half as glitchy as Awakenings. Oh, and I hope the expansion would actually be deeper than DA2 IE: return of item text, better companion interaction *outside* of their designated areas, actually being able to change the course events *and* their end results, etc.

And then Leliana nagged him into doing the right thing and going back to properly finish the job?

Really, Awakening makes a lot more sense if the Hero of Fereldan was planning on vanishing into the sunset.  If he's a committed warden, it's hard to understand what they were doing while those Orlesian dudes were screwing things up in Amaranthine.

The Orlesian wardens were ambushed while the "Hero of Ferelden" was on his way from Denerim. The attack wouldn't have taken that long, and if they had some warning, I'm sure the warden would have gotten there sooner.

I've also had wardens who traveled with Leliana into the sunset and shouldn't have been anywhere near Amaranthine, and yet they are. That said, I didn't mind it too much, as I was more than happy to play as my warden again and kill more darkspawn.

After Awakening, the warden disappears yet again, only to turn up in Amgarrak, and it is a possibility that the warden will make some kind of appearance in DA3. Bioware keeps trying to kill off the warden only to bring them back from the dead over and over.

I thought Awakenings was a great expansion (not perfect, but still great and worht the money). I get what people say about it feeling detached from Origins and I think that would have been remedied if you could have had some of your companions from Origins with you. That and it could have connected to the end of Origins a bit better to ease the transition a bit, but it was still connected through the Darkspawn and provided a great twist on them as well.

Surely even if Bioware aren't looking to DLC in the same vein as Awakenings, could there not be a happy medium between that and Legacy as future DLC?

Also, I really hope the Disciples and such return to Dragon Age because, to me, they made the Darkspawn more interesting.

It did? I know it wasn't received spectacularly well compared to the main game but do you have a source for it not actually being profitable?

VGcharts, it sold poorly across the board.

Again witht he VGcharts, a notoriously unreliable source that doesn't seem to take direct downloads/digital copies into account at all when that is about 50% of the PC market (and probably closer to 80% of the console marketwhen you're talking about expansions and DLCs). Who bought a BOX copy of Awakening? I certainly didn't even if I did buy a box copy of Origins.

I enjoyed awakenings. I, too, would have liked more elaborated character interaction.

I'd love an Awakenings-style expansion pack for DA2.

All I would say is, if one is planned, please carry over more of the existing party members and romances. It just felt wrong that you never got to hook up with any of your old party, and the lack of romances felt jarring for a Bioware game.

Id pay for an expansion if it addressed the main games shortfalls.

All the little details that BW missed when creating the game that can really jar you out of the game; the samey-ness of Kirkwall. The lack of diversity in quest dungeons. The maps and random ass mid dungeon impassable doors. Kirkwall changing over time. Getting the full 10 years of play we were promised.

And of course changing the ending so that Hawke's choices actually matter would be nice.

But doubt thats gonna happen.

Yes. Hawke's story does not feel finished, at least if the goal is for her choices to make a difference. I started playing the game again after putting it down, and I'm enjoying it now that I know that what I do doesn't really matter. It's like watching a film or reading a book where the point is "nothing anyone does, no matter what, can stop this or even change it." So, the unremitting misery of Hawke's life now sort of amuses me "even the great cannon stop what is to come, or save their family, or much of anything else. The best you can hope is for a few hours of happiness in the arms of your loved ones, and some glorious slaughter as you fail heroically to matter."

I already said it and I'll repeat myself: if they ever do the huge Awakening expansion, I want Tallis in it too to replace the spot of a leaving character. (Semi-Spoiler: Because obviously, one your characters might leave by the end of the first scenario.)

This is probably one of the reasons I like DA2 over DAO....   I love this sort of story.   Hero's Journeys are great and all, but in storyline terms:

"the world sucks but you can fix it" type of stories just don't do it for me that much.
I much prefer a story along the lines of : "the world sucks, and you can't change that, but you can try your hardest and maybe... at the end of the day... you'll have made things just a little bit better than they would have been without you."

I would love an expansion for da2, but I can see why they wouldn't, just from a cost standpoint, cos the only people who are gonna buy the expansion are people who bought the game, finished it, and really liked it. From statistics, I think only 50% of people finish the game (I remember that being said for Origins, I don't remember what it was for DA2), and there's probably a decent percentage of those people who played it, enjoyed it, but aren't the type of person to keep up with news on it and know when an expansion pack comes out - I knew a guy who loved Origins, but the only reason he knew DA2 was coming out was cos I told him.

Awakenings was a 12-20 hour game, depending how completionist you were - which is the length of a lot of AAA full sized games. And it sold for less than the price of a full sized game, to probably only 40% of the people who played Origins, at most. So yea, doesn't seem like a good plan, money wise.

Whereas dlc's are cheaper to make, and have smaller, less intimidating price tags, so they're probably the better plan.

I want BioWare to make an expansion that focuses on Starkhaven and further expands on Sebastian's storyline.

I really enjoyed Awakenings. I remember finishing up DA:O early on a Saturday afternoon and immediately having withdrawls. I hopped into my truck, drove down to my local Gamestop and bought DA:A. And I gotta admit.... I really enjoyed it! Sure there were a few things I didn't like (no LI and the biggest one for me was lack of dialogue... no longer could I talk to my party anytime I wanted and have deep conversations... HATED THAT!) But in the end, I really enjoyed the game. The storyline with Nathaniel was excellent, especially since I was a human noble in DA:O, and it really made it personal. I loved have Oghren back...lol. Anders was great as was Justice. Some really great characters in that one as well, and I liked the storyline with the Architect. Overall, I was impressed and really enjoyed it. Now, with that in mind, I would NOT want an expansion for DA2 seeing as how I really didn't care for the game... unless there were a LOT of things fixed. But me personally, I would rather them put the time and care into DA3 this time around. I think it needs it. I'm all for great expansions, and if DA3 is a great game like the first, I would welcome one for it.

I would be suprised if by late fall/early 2012 we don't hear bout a new full retail dragon age game going for a yearly installment production (lets say Dragon Age: Exalted Marches :P) that will conclude Hawke's story and adds all the adjustments & additions the DLC is experimenting on us with

I suspect bioware wants to get out of the corner DA2 got them in as quickly as possible & start fresh with a perfectly working engine from DA2 (if they have common sense anyway, debatible i admit) then Dragon Age 3 sometime in 2013 or so
