We fight or we die thats the plan-Shepard. When I heard this I was thinking to myself.........No duh shepard! He asked what the plan was to stop them........I guess shepards only good for fighting and not decision making.

I suppose during the gameplay trailer, Shepard should have gone Into a long and drawn out speech about his wonderful plan to stop the Reapers, perhaps Shepard plans to bore the Reapers to death, aswell as gamers.
Sometimes the most motivating words can be just a short phrase or even one word, for instance General Anthony McAuliffe response to the Germans demand for the besieged 101st to surrender.
McAuliffe responded with the word "Nuts!", the phrase baffled the Germans, but significantly raised the moral of the 101st troops who had been surrounded, cut off and been taking a beating for some time.
It is my opinion that Shepards "We fight or we die, thats the plan!" quote would fit in with other great military quotes.
The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

Thats like saying.......We need a plan to "fight"(instead of "stop") them.........(Shepard) We fight them or die thats the plan!

It's more like Shepard has absolutely no plan, and needs to remind everyone that not fighting is a decidedly bad idea. He does it by proving that maybe it isn't a good thing Shepard is all that stands between the reapers and victory.
