It's kind of funny that Warrior, the tank class, has the hardest time with a duel of all things in this game.

I think I downed him on rogue in under ten seconds. Bioware really needed to balance this better for warriors.

How'd you down him so quickly with a rogue? Doing it on hard took me about five minutes of kiting, before using vendetta to nip behind him and assassinate if I had the stamina.

Put all your attribute points into optimising damage (a mixture of dexterity and cunning) and use beraht's revenge if possible. This will allow you to trigger force effects every time you use spike damage.

In order for your auto-attacks to get past the Arishok's defence you'll ideally you'll use a shadow for the disorient and the extra crit-damage but a duelists throw the gauntlet could also do the trick. Thinking about it now, using both of them is slightly unnecessary.

All you do is stab him (assassinate/vendetta/twin fangs/fully charged explosive strike), auto-attack him a few times while he's reeling, then stab him again, autoattack a few more times then stab him again and he'll be dead. Thinking about it now, a duelist/assassin might be optimal for this fight as they can get three spike damage talents in right off the bat (don't have to charge an explosive strike).

It's a lot easier with the item pack (nature weapon) and patch (seriously reduced arishok hp) although pre-patch the lack of damage caps could work in your favour...

Shadow + + Decoy (w/ Shadow Veil)+Mark of Death+ Disorienting criticals + Twin Fangs/Assassinate

Nature Weapon as well, auto staggered him when I exited obscured Stealth, and auto staggered him again with Twin Fangs/Assassinate.

I gave up on the duel with him, reloaded and went the everyone fights route as a dual weapon rogue on casual difficulty. I never use potions, it's ridiculous that someone can stop to have a drink in the middle of a fight.
Against Loghain my dual weapon Rogue won without using any potions on hard difficulty.
Just another example of why DA2 is so disappointing.

You can beat the Arishok with a DW rogue on Nightmare without using potions as well.  If you're disappointed in DA2 because you need to chug potions when you fight him, then the issue is you, not the fight or the game.

Oh, and throwing a fireball or using healing spells is no more ridiculous than drinking a potion.

I haven't gotten much into Warrior on this yet, but is there a skill like superiority? That helped alot with the dual in DA:O.

But it was the same with the Loghain duel.

Then you made something wrong.A pure strenght twohanded warrior owns loghain really fast , even on nightmare.
