Is it just me or does it really suck that RPG lets you buy epic items for your people rather than getting them in game... This isn't even an MMO and people are biting... :( Is that the reason why the in game items suck so that you can sell the better items? hehe come to think of it, maybe that's why there isn't any toolset either...

I'm sure we can come up with a whole list of conspiracy theories, but that's really all they are.

I would however agree that the additional items are too easily obtained. There should at least be a small quest attached to them, even if it is around Kirkwall and the surrounding areas.

This is a fairly good point. This weekend I was playing through the first couple of hours with different characters to decide which one I was going to stick with. On one, I didn't go pick up all my goodies from my home in Kirkwall and was finding the game much more challenging and, I must say, fun. The moment I finally went home, I noticed a huge difference in power and how easy battles became.

So it's a fair point; then again, it's the player's choice to use these items. Don't want to use super-duper stuff right away? Nobody is forcing you :)

I'm not sure I'll bother with another set of item DLC's - have looked at the stats and they're not great, in fact was a little confused as to why Merrils unique item has a +Mana regen stat - does anyone not respec her and run super bloodmage? Will wait until I see the armour & weapon models before I decide, otherwise I may mod some existing items to match the trinkets.

Call me obsessed with aesthetics if you like but there's been a definite slide towards ugly in the mage weapons DLC.

The Staff of Parthalan is a thing of beauty.

Malcolm's Honour is a bit curious looking but by 10th level it's better than the SoP.

Then there's the Legacy staff, which would be the dictionary definition of 'the ugly stick' were it not for this new staff in the Mage Pack II, which is even more hideous.

I'm sorry but I won't equip ugly staves, any more than I would drive an ugly sports car.

Come on Bioware designers, go back and look at the Staff of Parthalan and make something as lovely as that. Or better still, allow the SoP to improve with level and some of us will still be using it at level 25.

Thanks.

I totally agree, but then all the outfits do look pretty cool, don't they?

the weapons for all three classes look horrible. why would i want a maul or axe for my warrior when i prefer swords?

for a rogue when i prefer daggers why would i want hand axes?

Are there other rogue axes in game? I haven't played a melee rogue, only an Archer, but the bow is fantastic, one of the best looking bows in the game.

Yes there are, you just have to buy them from the vendors. Mostly in the game though you get daggers but one handed axes that you get for a warrior can be used for a rogue as well.

Yup, the Fugitive's Mantle is fantastic looking, as is Malcolm's Bequest.

Mage Pack II armour not so much.

TBH, the only benefit of MP2 is the rings/amulets for companions.

Malcolm's Honour is a great stick for cutscenes.

Staff of Parthalan is symbolic to DA2. I had hope Hawke could be Arcane Warrior when that trailer was released with Hawke dueling with the Arishok.

The new staves are all ugly. :|

Do not get me wrong, I love this game, loved the previous games as well. As a graphics and back in the day game designer too I understand the hard work and time it takes to put into something like this game. I understand how hard it is to please your audience and no one is more cruel than your fans.

I like the idea of DLC items, and like a previous posters said, as the player you do have choices to use the uber DLC items or not. I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth and I want Bioware to know how grateful and appreciative I am of having these things continually added to the game. But after so many years of the same feedback about the design and look of equipment (and character design) one would think that this would be a priority when creating new content. If you (general you, not aggressive YOU) are going to put time into creating something that takes a lot of effort and ppl are going to pay for it (or work in game for it) then make it hot, sexy and scream "I am a badass (insert class) and just looking at my armour is going to do some morale damage before I even get to the butt kicking part."

I understand that from a RP stand point Hawke as mage does not want to scream "Hey! In Your Face Templars!, look at my purty mage robes made out of gold thread and ancient archaic mage symbols!" but as a new member of the Hightown elite and her/his aspirations of becoming the Viscount of Kirkwall you would think that Hawke would be able to hire a tailor in town that could make some really impressive looking armour. Yes I side with the Templars (even as a mage) but only because the blood mages in Kirkwall killed my Mommy and they are nuttier than a ****** tripping on maple syrup. NOT because I want to be a Chantry priest. I do not want to look like a chantry priest and I think it is time Bravo did an intervention at Bioware and show the clothes designers how to make some kick butt looking armour. Just looking at Malcom's Bequest makes feel like I threw my grandmother's couch cover on because the wool is thick enough it might stop a sword.

I know the talent is there because all one has to do is look at the Champion armour, Flemeth's armour, Morrigan's clothes, Sebastian's armour, etc. why can't Hawke get some of that love too? Great stats, great looking armour, even better looking weapons.

I apologize if this is rather long-winded, it has been building for a while. I am not into the whole complaining scene but the nugget wand threw me over the edge.

Ok armor looks nice but I've seen better in other games and even those created by mods, ok some are a bit revealing but hey it is an 18+ game. Maybe this has been done before but wouldn't it be nice if Bioware ran a competition to let people design the next weps/armor for the next either story or item dlc.

As I said maybe someone else knows if this has been done before or not.

Bioware really needs to take some tips from Capcom's Monster Hunter series. If you have ever seen some of the high ranking armor in those games, you will know what I am talking about.

The Kushala Daeora, and Fatalis armor from the PSP installment, and the Alatreon, and Devil Jho armor from Tri are great examples of cool looking armor.

Also, the armor from Origins and Awakening were great. Armor of the Sentinel, King Cailen's armor, juggernaut, and legion of the dead all looked cool. There really isn't a good excuse for crappy looking armor in DA II.

I was a little skeptical about the rogue axes but on further inspection i think Bioware was actually going for Kamas which are perfect for rogues.

Bioware should just stay Bioware, If people like whats in other games then they should stick to those other games. Don't need to shark other games to please like 2-3 fans. I do agree they should take more time in the armor creation cause we all know they have the potential. But I think these guys know what they're doing, they're just trying out new stuff, and i'm sure in the end we'll be pleased. It's just not fair to right off a company for one game (that I and most others enjoy) that still has DLCs and such in the works. Just think of DA2 as a very good BETA for DA3.;)

That is your opinion. I think the armor we've seen so far in DA2 (with one or two exceptions) is way better and more varied than Origins and Awakening.
Besides, the first item pack contains a set of armor modelled after the Legion armor.

With the exception of the Grey Warden Runic armor, I'd love to see a single set of armor made by mods that looks better than the best of the DA2 armor.
I challenge you to post a picture of such armor.

Fantastic. My Hawke now looks more fabulous than ever.

If there is a better way to spend my money, I certainly don't know it.

If they're not going to do an expansion I'd like something like this. We don't need another item pack now.

The only thing that nipping at me with this pack is the same armor for both sets thing. The different looks was what got me to get Item Pack 1...

Oh well, enjoying the weapons and accessories. I'll wear the armor (especially the Rogue) and have fun regardless
