Seriously...all this lovely downloadable content that would usually get my balls quite sweaty with excitement is starting to actually ****** me off(and sorry if this is perceived as such a rant, but it needs to be said imho).

I origonally bought the CE of DA:O which came with a bunch of (mostly pointless) goodies and of course a free unlocking of the Stone Prisoner....(wait, so theyre selling/releasing DC's that they could  have just made into a game but dont because they....want to rip us all off?  An oddly straight forward guess thats unfortunatley probably correct...ive just never seen a games dev. be so blatant about it).  And so I think ive just about finished up the Stone Prisoner portion of the addition and it was a fairly decent experience...nice sidequest, charachter, etc.  But then i look up how much it would have cost me if i actually bought it and its $15...really?...so turning a game with an amazing amount of content thats only $50 into a game with just a tiny  bit more content and $65...but the madness isnt over yet boys and girls, as you all well know.

The CE didnt contain Wardens Keep, which i went ahead and immediatley bought when i loaded up DA:O because i wanted the games 'full experience' (yet another DC that was released prior to the actual games release...amazing!)  So that DC added a whopping 0.5 hours of sub-standard gameplay to a game that (supposedly) contains much more than 150 hours of gameplay.  Now i personally loved the backstory but the uselessness of having a 'stash' to hord all your uneeded items (the big 'selling point' of this DC) is quite humerous.  And i paid $7 for this...I mean at the time, for turning a $65 game into a $72 game, i was kinda expecting a bit more...and just the fact that they could have included this in the game easily...or at least for free, considering it does  assist in the backstory of the Grey Wardens...an organization that your forced into and know almost nothing about for the whole game.  It's something that the avg. player just might want to know about...without having to pay 7 more dollars, of course.

Mooving on, Bioware releases their 3rd awe inspiring DC that takes you back to the major battle that you were kept out of (and you all know you regretted it).  So, less than a month after the games release, another DC comes out for the comparibly low low price of $5! (keeping up?...a $50 game turns into $77...if you want the 'full experience' anyways)  Now I havn't bought into this one yet, but if the price serves as any comparible reference, it's likely going to be the shortest gameplay experience yet.  And as ever, you'll get a fun little bonus in this one too that may or likely won't outstrip the items you've already uncovered (from the info gleaned on the product page, it looks liky you'll be able to equip the kings armor and arms).

Now, my understanding is to release and DC after some amount of time has passed post-game-release to help revitalize a game with a decent amount of new content to explore and take advantage of.  These DC's, however, are more like the lil chunks of feces that come after the significantly larger first mass when you really have to go; they serve no real purpose, but are really just little half-arsed, after thoughts...or extra bits that should habe been compacted into the first mass.  And let there be no confusion...the first mass would be of course a reference to the entirety of the game...which was a gold brick or a diamond of a passing. respectivley.  This other stuff is...embarrassing...defiling...i dont think i can really think of a proper word to describe this demagoguery so i'll leave it at that.

All your thoughts...?

Well, your math is wrong, but whatever… I'll deflect your actual question for a moment here and ask you this: Do you know how much the DLC for Neverwinter Nights cost if you bought each one new when it came out? It's always this way. Buying DLC right away is expensive. If you want to save money, wait for a year or two and there will be a compilation pack of the entire game plus all of the DLC for about $20. Economically, that's the best option. If you want to have your fun now, make it for yourself with the toolset or pony up. It's pretty simple. =]

He is not really talking about expense dude, read carefully. He is describing the DLC being ridiculously small compare the actual game while costing so much.

Now I myself am of the same oppinion. I would really like that if future DLCs came with a little more content than they are now. I mean really these DLC are prabobly the smallest DLCs ever created and its just like the OP says, its EMBARRASSING to see these things come out after releasing a game like Dragon Age. (minus the bugs and this game will be perfect)

Oh, I absolutely agree that a longer DLC with a good chunk of story would be great, but they've already said—repeatedly—that they will release things like that. Pointing out that they have not done it yet doesn't get us anywhere. I have not decided whether or not I want Return to Ostagar. It looks a bit small, true. Again, though, BioWare has said that there will be a wide range of content, with some large expansions being planned for next year and possibly the year after if we're lucky. Small DLC like Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar is optional. It's garnish. Shale is the only DLC so far that I truly consider 'necessary' and it is included with all new copies of the game.

EDIT: You're still inflating the price a bit by saying that someone would pay the full $50 for the game without Shale in it. The only reason you'd have to buy Shale would be if you were buying a used copy of the game, and if that were the case, it'd probably only cost you $30-40. If someone's asking $50 for a used copy, ignore them. =]
