Well that's the problem, isn't it?
I have to use my imagination to create a story and character I would like. Why would I bother playing the game than? I could just write my own novel about DA 2 and be done with it. I had no need for that in DAO. Back than, magnificent Bioware team did that for me. ;)

You see this, World? Do you see how kids are these days? Simple mined people with no imagination, This is why BW can't make political choiches and arguments in their games b/c of people like this one.

You make me sick *spits*

I am a student of literature, tyvm, so i hardly fall under cathegory "kids". But nvm that. You missed the point completely! It is Mike Laidlaw himself that said DA2 should be simplified in order to draw new fans (a.k.a. kids) to the game. And it is simplified. Instead of making some cool character with multiple options for his character development, we get to choose between 3 different persons ( angry, joker and honest Hawke), and it all ends up the same. That way, I have to imagine a different outcome if somethign reacted differently to my action. Again, poor choice problem that Bioware is aware of, hopefully. In Origins, I was given a fair amount of certainty and large dose of free will. I guess this means quite the opposite to what I said in my previous post, but i appologize for that mistake.
I guess i meant that, unlike Origins, I had lot less options to choose from and that very lack of choices forced me to make up my own story to satisfy my desire for good story. I hope I clarified that?! Cheers!

I know I am in the minority here with all of these cRPGers, but I prefered DA2 because of the on rails type storyline. It was much more like a JRPG - the type of RPGs I grew up loving. I just want to say, please give me more Hawke and please keep DA3 more like DA2 and less like DA:O.

I think that's what they're planning on anyway but I totally agree.

Is this online somewhere?

Or not, because it's not cool to broadcast panels from PAX or something?

I disagree but respect your views.  Think they will gain new gamers but will lose some as well but hey the world moves on and there always lots of other choices out there.  So I'll wait and see what happens before I decide if DA3 is for me or not.

I prefer a strong story over the illusion of choices that doesn't matter. I would have liked if there where more roads to the ending in da2 - something I hope they will do in da3.

I've come across about a handful of choices that matter in Bioware games so far, so it doesn't bother me all that much.

See, this is what destroyed the Dragon Age. You can't satisfy one side without making the other side angry.  I guess that, what people don't understand about RPG like Dragon Age, is that it is a game of choices. It's not a game that you can finish in 2 days. It is a game that requires thinking and it requires a player to fully comit to his character. Not just his gear, but his soul as well. When I first finished Dragon Age Origins ( after a week and a half of gameplay), i was mindblown. Now, is it fair from my side to start playing God of War and winne about how the game doesn't look like DAO at all? No! If you don't like games like DAO, don't play it! Don't even search for it on internet. Don't force developers to destroy their whole genre so that a smaller fanbase could enjoy!

I loved DAO. But I loved DA2 more. "Destroy their whole genre" is overreacting a bit.

Exactly my point, but I am from jrpg too. I liked the way something is unpreventable, because sometimes you just can't do a thing. I never got through Oblivion because I lose interest in the plot. There is too much freedom and not really a reason for me too keep going. My character have no personalities and no friends so I don't really care about them and what happens. I never get any longer than halfway - I think.

I liked da:o, too. In fact I loved it. I just love da2 more because I am more invested in Hawke than the warden. Also my warden tended to feel super-human which is not fun for me.

True, main storyline and character involvement in Oblivion isn't that good. Morrowind had much better story. I know this is offtopic, but i had to say it. :)

Is it overreacting? Compare DA2 with BG, NWN, KOTOR,ME etc... IS it overreacting?

Only played BG2, and not Kotor, but else. Yes it is overreacting.

We are already flooded with JRPG's. I for one, dont want more of the same bloody thing. I liked DA2 don't get me wrong, but I did not LOVE it. I felt Iwas playing a cross-breed beetween a jrpg and a crpg.

I don't play many games these days; because there becoming more, and more dumbed down. Even final fantasy is extreamly dumbed down, now.

Heheheh! Yup, Morrowind story was much better. You had no traveling system like Oblivion, which is better in my opinion. gave you much better experience in knowing the terrain and the land. And you played a man/woman who is supposed to destroy ancient enemy of Empire. Problem is, that you in your previous life was your current enemy's best friend. And it's closely linked to the destruction of the Dwemer/dwarven race. Very interesting and breathtaking story.

Sound interesting all right... Sort of sad I missed the game now. All right I will give Skyrim a go. I might just like it.

That dumbing down of games is EA's fault. If you played Crysis and Crysis 2, you could feel clear difference between the games. Since EA bought Crytek, Crysis 2 got a lot simplified game than it's predecessor.

I know people have to say something to hate on DA2 but I've been playing Bioware games since way, way back with BG. This doesn't feel like any real change to me - and a long list of thing about cameras and compnaion armor won't change that sense. The same pause n' play combat, the same set of moral choices, the same dialogs for romance bit, the Monty Haul looting, the point n' click combat and lockpicking, the terrible urban spaces. I never felt likie this went soomewhere outside the boundaries the way Jade Empire or Mass Effect tried to be something different. This was a game they could have sealed me in a vault since BG came out, unlock it and sit me down and I'd say "Yep, just like it has always been".

That is an issue with execution and not conception. Most everyone rightly finds the execution of DA2 to be lacking but the question for many is rather the conception is flawed.

It seems DAO fans are a minority on this forum. Quite the opposite thing on DA wikia.
