Nah, see, that's the easiest route, not the safest. Working a way for Warden to get back in series as an NPC ( i would very much like that, maybe even more than PC) would be incredible feat, and I'm assured Gaider could do it if only EA fckin games don't limit him again! ****s.

Oh shush, now you're just being bitter. =P

I don't think it's the writing that's going to be difficult, should they decide to bring our lovely Warden back. It's as Conduit0 wrote; Dragon Age 2 is presented by a whole new artstyle, one (should the Q&A at PAX be any indication) they are planning to keep. Import DAO's Warden with DA2's artstyle, and who knows, they may end up looking as Orana's long lost sibling.

And while that may be easily remedied by giving us a Character Creator beforehand and tweaking the Warden's face to our liking, then you still have the problem of what voice your character will be speaking with. As much as I'd adore just a simple standard cameo of a hooded Warden looking over their shoulder with a knowing smile on their face, I'm pretty sure the majority of BSN would like a more engaging role and actually have their character speak. Not only is the sound of the voice going to be a problem, but their pronounciation and the tone of their sentences is completely up to the player too. How are you going to translate the wishes of all the players into one character?

As much as I'd love to see my Warden pop back up again, I can honestly say that if these forums are any indication, the safest route for BioWare to take is to simply leave the Warden in the past.

And had Teagan and Leliana's comments been left out of Dragon Age 2, I honestly couldn't agree more with this statement. Sadly, I've proven to be too much of a fangirl not to get my hopes up after DA2's ending.

Woot? I aint bitter! Well, I am ..... a lil, I admit.
But, artstyle isn't that big of an obstacle. Alistair, Zev and Leliana are changed, yes, but not THAT MUCH. Only elves would be problem. Man, they are ugly in DA2.
And voice problem? We get to choose voice presets in DAO, right? you have : Violent, Suave, Wise ... why not use that as a basics for creating Warden's proper voice?

I personally wouldn't have a problem with it either (hoods ftw \\o/), but I can understand people who would. It's our character, after all. It's not unthinkable people would like to be in control of how their character looks.

Huh. You know, that may actually work pretty well. It would still have to be a single voice actor pronouncing sentences within those variables, since I can imagine hiring multiple actors costs a ****ton of money, but you may be on to something here.

Plus! in addition to Warden's voice development, they could use these presets to make his personality to a certain point. Ofc we can't expect Warden to make up his own sentences but, the personality could be taken from those voice presets as well. I for example, made my human mage with violent voice, and throughout the game I made choices acording to that voice. Violent voice, violent nature, violent outcomes. Cammen whining how he can't get his girl cause hes too weak a hunter? Screw you pal! Get some balls or die! Than I make stonefaced berserker warrior dwarf with mild voice, mild nature, who would take the time to help Cammen. See what i did there?

I see. I guess it would work. I wouldn't mind seeing my warden again, but some of the most hardcore fans would... crash the forums if bioware dares to do one little thing with the warden that they didn't do. Such as voice, or choice or even the warden saying a sentence or changing look.
Sighs... So I guess we will just hear about them-

I think Thori's idea might actually work. Of course I can see the uproar it would cause. I for one, could live with Thori's idea; if they dont use a voice like mhawkes for my male warden that is:whistle:

Although I'm more excited at the prospect of maybe getting an artbook.

I can't understand why you guys are making such a big deal out of the ''way our Warden should speak'' or the ''how our Warden will look like, import issues ftl!!!!111''

Who gives a damn? That's not what's important, what's important is that he/she is in the game at all. As long as he/she will be there in the game with a major role in the plot, I'll be more than happy.

I'm a little curious about the Fex, they're the only race we haven't seen yet. Are they going to play a role in DA3?

Adding the Warden to the story, giving him/her a voice and an appearance is a very daring and risky decision. One that probably would backfire anyway - unless they want to add a character creator for the Warden and add a dozen voices for people to choose from, there are always going to be players who will not be satisfied with it.

I'm one of those who liked their Wardens more than Hawke, but did Bioware ever made a promise to me that I would be playing as the protagonist of Origins in future DA stories? No. Did they promise developing other Dragon Age games at the launch of the first one? No.

Why some people keep insisting that the Warden must come back is beyond me.

"One fan asked, referencing the Dragon Age prose novels, how many kids Merrill has. Gaider responded with a laugh that Merrill has at least two."

Screw up much?

Not that hard. Most people would have been OK with the Origins ending, but Bioware had to make the Warden disappear at the end of DA2. That's not going to be a satisfying ending for a lot of people. i'd be Ok with NPC discussion of the Warden's return, but not if he stays gone.

Throat injury, lyrium bandaid thingy & boom unified male & female voices for the warden, super easy and makes as much sense as fenris's magical fisting ability

That said, outside the city elf i don't really care if the warden returns or not, Final Fantasy pretty much conditioned me to accept new protagonists every installment anyways :P

Yeah, bit this aint FF, right?
Many understood what i said ,wrongly. The best thing Bioware can do, and the best thing in storyline by my experience is to bring back both Hawke and Warden as NPCs. People LOVE cameos. People LOVE their favorite characters uniting. Playing AS Warden or Hawke wouldn't do much good. We want to start out anew. We want to make a new hero, while the old ones should be our mentors. Thus, we have a problem with how people would react to their Warden's personality if he would show up as NPC.Hawke would have his personality settled as a result of the Dialogue wheel system. But for Warden, voice presets could step in. Artstyle isn't a problem. Now, voice and personality doesn't need to depend upon choices we made in DAO. It only needs to give AI system enough info so that our Warden talks the  way he should've talked in Origins. Voice presets can do that. If that means some people would have to replay their characters from Origins, so be it. How many of you rerolled Origins char so you can import him in DA2?

Yes, I would be happy without the ''personality'' being taken into consideration

Yes, since hiring 6 different actors for each race (male 3, female 3). Totalling 18 different voice actors simply for our Warden is completely out of the question because anyone with his head right understands the insane costs this would have.

Yes, I would be perfectly happy to just have 6 voice actors (or none, conversation text only would work aswell) instead of 18.

edit: Then again, if a major role in the plot is planned in DA3 for the Warden, 6 different voice actors (atleast, ignoring ''personality'' which every1 is whining about ^^) would kinda be required

How about 1 actor taking up a voice of several characters? Not like that would be first time in history of cinematography and cartoon making. There are 5 main actors in The Simpsons and each of them gives voice to several characters. Why would that be a problem?

The only thing i ever wanted from DA3 was that you would play as the warden one FINAL time, then it would be the end of it, I just want a conclusion because origin and awakening and witch hunt weren´t a conclusion of the wardens story. If it was, it was a very bad one.

In dragon age 2 you get hinted that the hero of ferelden from alistair, Teagon, nathaniel howe Zevren and Leliana is actually quite active during the time span between DAO and DA2. Why did bioware start to involve the warden once again by saying in the end of DA2 that the chantry are looking for the warden as well.

so to sum up: i just wished that DA3 would be the LAST, the VERY LAST adventure of the hero of ferelden as a protagansit and for it to be an epic conclusion of the hero of fereldens story. THATS IT

Then you could actually move forward

See, theres a bug with imported file, where even if I left with Morrigan through the mirror , Teagan would mention that King Alistair should go back to Ferelden and that the Hero of Ferelden should by now be in Denerim. How could Warden be in Denerim 10 years after the Blight when he left with Morrigan?

My warden didn´t follow morrigan but i hope that bioware will take the time to think over the 1000 varibles or something like that for the story in DA3

Things didn't work out with Morrigan-your warden went back to his/her life in Ferelden.

They have said countless times that Witchhunt is NOT Canon and should not be taken as such.
