I hope in order to let DA2 be a sequal to DAO then in the dlc you should hear the actions of the warden and the rest his/hers story.

Let be honset there weren´t any reference to origin at all

Yup! Actually, in the REAL world, Origins never happened. It all started with Hawke running away from scary boogeymen! :P

Morrigan's offer of the Dark Ritual is not canon because she will not make the offer to all players.

I believe, in fact, that she does.  Even if she leaves your party beforehand, she will always come back and offer the player the Dark Ritual no matter what.

In the case of OGB, none of the female characters did the ritual.

They (potentially) did.  A female Warden obviously can't do the ritual herself, but female Wardens are offered it just like male Wardens.  Females just have to ask Alistair (or Loghain) to actually, you know...do it.

I wasn't aware of this, I had heard Morrigan didn't make the offer to female characters. I would suppose this would make the Dark Ritual canon. I'm not sure on the OGB-I seem to recall one of the devs saying that the OGB was not canon if you refused to do the ritual with Morrigan. I guess we'll find out in the future.

The choice is not canon if you refuse, both all wardens get the offer.

What is the definition of cannon? Is cannon a choice that would be forced on all players who import saves from origins, or what the default storyline is?

Cos the default storyline I believe does have the Dark Ritual. When you create a new characters in DA2, the default story is "the Hero of Ferelden," and it says how the grey warden killed the archdemon and somehow survived.

Dark Ritual is the only way that can happen.

According to David Gaider the definition of canon that he uses is:

"Canon is something that we dictate regardless of choice." (6:44)

www.ustream.tv/recorded/9386107

To me that sounds like the default story choices are not "canon". They are simply one possible set of options. Canon is more like something that happens in the story that the PC has no choice to change.

I'm getting a bit confused with this Canon thing. Am I'm getting this right that no matter what choices we make it doesn't matter or make a difference as Bioware will dictate what happens regardless so therefore what is the point in giving us choices in the first place?

No you are not right. Canon is thing like what Cullen does at the end of the game, or canon is the warden being recruited into the grey wardens.
It is canon that all wardens get the offer, but not canon that all takes it.
Just look at the three preset for da:o in da2. We have three possible worlds 1 with the dark ritual, one with the ultimate sacrifice and 1 with the Loghain redeemer ending.

What Gaider said was that it's canon that Loghain did something in Ostagar or that Meredith did something in the end of DA2, sry, can't say much in a non-spoiler area. Regarless what choice you pick Meredith still end the same, so that is canon, however it is not canon what side you picked at the end of the game.

Another good example would be that a certain red-haired bard is alive at 9:40 Dragon, that's canon, however it is not canon if the Warden tried (as he defenitly not succeded as it seems) to kill her, or not.

Did they specifically say we'll see the Warden? Maybe we'll just hear about him/her. Totally possible for them to wrap it up that way.

I also agree with everyone wondering about carrying over a customized face for the Warden, especially since a lot of PC users modded the faces and obviously those wont transfer at all.

Face transfer wont be a problem. They can do similar **** liek they did with Shepard in ME2. Only in DA3 we wont be using advanced medical technology to restore face, but magical mirror.

Warden: Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the prettiest of them all!?
Xenon: I am! Muhahahahahahahahahaha ..... cough, cough .... ah, damn it!

And they did say there will be a meeting between Hawke and Warden, which means, yeah Warden is coming back for sure, unless they toss Hawke in the background as well and we only HEAR of their meeting. What a scam would that be.

actually, i tried recreating my Origins Hawke (who is my profile pic) with the DA2 generator, and it's quite difficult after all!

My REAL worry is, my Waren died at the end of Origins :P  I hope they come up with a good in-story way to bring him back. I never bought the "if you dont care we dont" argument they made when they released Awakening, and so I played that through with another character

Actually, I hear they redid the system for creating appearances in DA2 unlike with Shepard.  So it would be impossible to directly transfer the Warden's face.

Perhaps there will be some changes with the wardens face but hopefully some things will remain so that you will see that its your warden

Oh, please! If I see my Warden with short hair ( instead of the long one like on the very avatar i'm displaying) it will break my heart! LOL I don't care how big a change on my Warden is. Just as long as he LOOKS like my Warden and as long as I SEE him doing something! Talking with me or wtvr.

The Codex, the Tavern, some random npcs made comments, even some of the missions. I think you just didn't take the time to read and find them.

The thing that would be a good idea to see in DA3 is that you getting interactive with the envioroment.

What i mean is that if you are going to a very cold area you might be forced to wear a cape or a hide and that is displayed on the character and then the cold it may reduce the stamina bar but by wearing a heavy armor you will be more resistant to the cold. Same thing goes for when you might be in a warm place and if you are wearing a heavy armor it may affect stamina and defence etc. etc.

If anyone in Bioware is reading this what do you think of this idea for DA3.

Please comment

I think what he was trying to say is that hearing rumor about Hero of Ferelden in Tavern and reading about DAO events in Codex is pretty much lame. And hearing from Bodahn and Leliana and Zevran about their friend, The Warden ( mind you, unlike Anders in Legacy , nobody mentions Warden seriously) aint  much better either. You don't hear Anders mentioning how Warden Commander used to wield Vigilance. You don't hear Zevran, mentioning how Warden became best friend to certain Qunari Sten. Nobody seems to mention how King Alistair and Warden are best friends and how they smacked Flemeth ( if they smacked her ofc). Granting him ZERO impact on Thedas world in DA2, Bioware did no justice to our favorite Hero.

The only reason I would be disappointed was that I created what I think was 2 beautiful Elf Wardens and not liking the way the elfs have been redesigned I would have to reconsider if I'd want to see them looking the way the Elfs look now.

The easiest way to allow for the Warden's appearance would be to have it set after the main campaign, but still in the form of a narrated tale. They could easily have Leliana continue where Cassandra left off and ask Varric about said meeting. The playe could select the Warden's class, origin and gender, and then Varric could begin with a generic version of the Warden (in something iconic, like the Sentinel armour if the player selected a warrior) in the same manner he did with Hawke, and Leliana could correct him as to what the Warden really looks like. From there, the player could enter a more detailed character generator re-styling the Warden in the manner of DAII. The developers could also base the options for hair, tattoos, etc on the ones available in DA:O. They'd need two sets of VAs for each race, though.

I dunno how feasible that would be to include in a dlc, but that'd be my ideal compromise.

No! Apsolutely out of the question. Warden deserves more than just a DLC. Honestly!

Indeed i think that the warden deserves at least one more game so that it could conclude the wardens story.

Pretty much this, any1 not agreeing doesn't know what an RPG is.

Sorry.

but didnt the devs say the wardens story was indeed done? im not sure how concluding the wardens story is irrelevant to RPGs, however, i would much like to see/play my warden(s) at least 1 more time:)
