I'm not installing Origin. Period.
So the question remains.
Will Origin be required to play ME3?

Looks like EA is starting to back-peddle, they have already taken out that bit about tracking all of your internet browsing activity. They still have the bit about monitoring you program use though.
Come on internet! Keep the pressure on EA so those evil BLEEPS in corporate learn there is a limit to how much you can jerk your customers around!
Do you have a Link or a source on that?
It's not that I don't believe you, but I am following this entire thing very closely and would be interested to read the entire thing.
Thanks!

I had a read of the Origin EULA again and they changed it a bit. Like I said, the total internet tracking is out, now its just tracking the use of THEIR website/services.
Hoping the software use tracking will be out soon to!
This is a step in the right direction...not far enough but they seem to be catching on to the idea that the original EULA was completely unacceptable.
Just a while longer and I think this may all be changed to something we can live with.
I'm sure it has a lot to do with the number of BF3 sales they lost.

If it is necessary, then I will not be buying or playing ME3.

They can change the EULA all they want to. We know now that the software was designed to do what it originally said they would do.

I'm betting it is. It's all over the ME3 site, and they'll just jusfify it by saying that some games, DX:HR for example, require Steam.

I checked out the official site yesterday and saw the Origin link on there as you say.
EA is Bioware and Bioware is EA so the Origin link being on the page isn't proof or evidence that a retail copy will require Origin.
The N7 Digital Deluxe Edition is an Origin exclusive and EA is trying to grow the Origin platform so having the link on the official game page just makes good business sense.
Then again I might just be grasping at whatever straws of hope I have left.

The piece of paper might SAY it dosent scan your system NOW, watch what your doing but that is a poor assurance compared when your installing software on your system and your system lights up with the REAL EULA you sign before installing the actual product.
Followed by:
"Origin is requesting access to the internet and administrative access"
I do not trust EA and this flip-flopping with EULA without comment only further removes my trust. An official statement saying Origin is NOT required to play ME3 direct from EA or GTFO.

It's too bad that EA/Bioware seems unwilling to clear this whole thing up.

Sadly this means no DA3 or further Bioware games for me, as except for ME I am mostly a PC gamer, but I have fully boycotted EA before because of their horrible business practices, and I will again.
I feel bad for Bioware though, and they shouldnt get the blame. This is all heaped on the soulless BLEEPS heading EA Corporate.
Remember! Dont just boycot, lodge a complaint with the local/national privacy office wherever you are. If customer opinion isnt enough to make EA change, the law sure is and this violates it in a lot of places!

I'm holding out hope that it won't be since Bioware's other major in development title won't force users to install Origin.

Buying the game for the 360 still supports EA. They get your money just the same and I doubt that they give a flying fig if you buy it for a consol, a retail PC game or as a digital download. They just want you to buy it.
Of course it's your choice and you can do anything you wish I just thought that I would point that out.

"Are you using origin ? If yes, they you agree to full invigilation".
Something like that. It will probably end like From Dust from Ubisoft. They make people mad with their DRM, loot of major gaming sites, well known bloggers etc start to write about it and yesterday I receive refund for the game, appology for troubles. It's bad PR. Really bad.
And about EA. When they confirmed that BF 3 will run only with Origin, i canceled my pre-order. pass info to my friends and they do the same. Just because EA is not only greedy for money but for information.
They literally asked if they can track ALL my software on PC, hardware and gather my personal data to use it for MARKETING PURPOSE. As other example: steam ask only for hardware if you are beta tester and they share some info about you ONLY when it's require to run some game (like for 3rd party account). EA is telling that they can share information about me to anyone they want.
So just like that - i canceled pre-orders. I don't want spyware on my PC. Good thing that TOR will not require Origin (Bioware confirmed it). This way I don't need to cancel that pre-order too.

I don't want any spyware on my PC! This feels like a violation of privacy laws. If not concrete laws then a violation of ethics. Urgh!!
First I had to make a separate account to play the game... now they are going to make me download a software I would hardly ever use? I want my HD to store games, not crap ware!
I want to play ME3, but if Origins has to invade my PC then this is something to second guess my pre-order purchase.

I'm a steam user so i'm not happy about the origin exclusive but that was mollified a bit by being able to register bioware games brought on steam with origins (so only ME1 would have required launching a different cloud service to use) but to then find in the EULA that i'm giving them free reign to scan my computer completely has put me back in the hell no way to origins camp.
Thinking about it, the EULA may actually violate the UK data protection act, something to e-mail and inquire about since local law trumps EULA's
