Will Origin be required to play ME3, now that Multiplayer has been confirmed?

So, who is that mighty and can protect the users? I don't think the EULA and collecting mania can be stopped by some user e-mails even if it's violate the law. It must be done by official instances.

Thank God I'll be playing this on the 360.
^This. EA can suck it.
Buying the game for the 360 still supports EA. They get your money just the same and I doubt that they give a flying fig if you buy it for a consol, a retail PC game or as a digital download. They just want you to buy it.
Of course it's your choice and you can do anything you wish I just thought that I would point that out.
Taking my money =/= Scanning personal information on my PC.

It's been a couple of days now and still no reply from Bioware.
Is no one minding the store?

Wouldn't honestly expect that. Bioware is a sub-division and is not setting this policy. They make games, EA makes enemies.

I have to agree...I would not expect an answer anytime soon. Not just for the reason justgimmedudedammit mentioned but for the fact that I think this whole thing is still in a state of flux and they may not even know themselves yet.
I think this may have been mentioned somewhere else, but this situation is a mess, so I'll ask again: Do we now need Origin to purchase DLC with Bioware points? I actually have put off buying Arrival until ME3's release date was closer, but if I need Origin to purchase DLC I won't be buying that either.

I got banned for it without a warning. Of course I fully understand that the promotion of piracy on BSN can not and will not be tolerated, but come on, lets be reasonable here, EA is asking for it with this stupid crap in their Origin's EULA. Besides, I did not encourage piracy, I only said that if EA keeps this up, they are encouraging piracy.
That said, I always buy my games, especially games from BioWare. I wouldn't want to screw BioWare, especially because I'm a game-design student myself. I wouldn't want to screw with my colleagues. That's why I will buy ME3 for my Xbox 360.
But in the future, I will think twice before I buy an EA game for my PC.
PS: Please don't ban me again dear mods! :'(

If all this is true, then will EA get a lot of trouble in European countries, from the Data lnspectorate.
Which makes me fear that Mass Effect will not be released on the PC in the EU at all.

That is completely unfair if it occured as you described. (I'm not calling your honesty into question, I believe what you've written. I just always have to leave a small window of doubt open)
I have not recieved a Ban yet...I hope that the Mods understand our concerns and our Right to express them if they are expressed in a polite manner.
I have, however been expecting a Ban Hammer to drop on me since I've been so vocal on this. I hope it won't.

Solution is simple. DON'T buy games that require Origin. Sales will drop and then they will change EULA or they will not make Origin required for their games.
Also make as much noise as you can about the whole thing so people hear about it. There is nothing better than black PR. Companies start to think then.
I'm glad that websites take it seriously and they are not afraid to talk about it. Here is one of the many articles (one of the biggest gaming site in Poland). It's on a frond page (Polish language)
http://www.gry-onlin...13.asp?ID=61615
Article is named "Are you using Origin client ? You are under full surveillance"

Actually, what EA is doing is ok by (eu)law. Because they are informing you they are going to breach your privacy.

You should make a new thread about his, questioning the legality of Origin's (EA's) actions.

As someone before me said, these kind of fascist meassures only encourage more people to turn to piracy. I know for certain, that a lot of people have turned to piracy because of DRM's. And this is even worse. A spyware on your computer, required to play EA games. I wonder how gamers will react to that (rhetorical).
Btw, just google EA Origin spyware. There are a lot of articles out there already and I hope this reaches as many people as possible. We need to say NO to this kind of fascist BS.

It is legal in the EU, they are informing you in the EULA that they will breach your privacy and sell that info to a third party. As long as they tell you that, it is legal.

I dont think thats the case otherwise you could get away with anything by making people sign a waiver/accept a EULA

The EU Directive on privacy and electronic communications requires EU Member
States to ensure confidentiality of the communications by prohibiting unlawful
interception and surveillance unless the users concerned have given their
consent. The EU Data Protection Directive specifies that a person must
freely give specific consent and be informed before their personal information
is processed.
Clicking YES or AGREE when it asks if you agree with the EULA is giving your consent.
