Will Origin be required to play ME3, now that Multiplayer has been confirmed?

I also don't like this:

13. Injunctive Relief. You agree that a breach of this License may cause irreparable injury to EA for which monetary damages would not be an adequate remedy and EA shall be entitled to seek equitable relief in addition to any remedies it may have hereunder or at law.

What? Where do you get this from?

Email which I got from EA a while back, stating the EA account I was using was going to be changed to an Origin account and it wouldn't change much of anything. If you're on these boards, you're using an EA account.

Ah, I was unaware BSN ran on EA servers. Regardless, it is much different from actually having the software on your computer, as mentioned above.

Yes this is known.. I guess its we should be lucky there not doing this just for having an account with them.  The EULA clearly states "if you do not agree with these terms do not download Origin"

I wouldn't be so certain yet...I heard it is going to be sold through other digital distributors? Possibly no Origin? I hope not...I would just like to log into my Bioware account to play...simple and easy.

Buying Mass Effct 3 has been a no-brainer for me so I haven't kept on on any of the news and have not read any interviews.  I didn't want any details or spoilers before hand. All I needed to know was that it was coming out and a possible release date.

Until I read about this on another site and checked the EULA myself that is.

It would be nice if someone from Bioware would let us know if we will be required to install Origin before we can play Mass Effect 3, or any other future Bioware games, on our PC's or not.

If we are required to install Origin that will be pretty much a deal breaker for me. I refuse to give any company permission to access personal information on my PC.

And by this post I am asking for a response from Bioware and not demanding one of course.

If ME3 on the PC requires Origin, I will not be buying or playing ME3. End of story.

I just called EA customer support and was informed that they couldn't give out any information about this one way or the other at this point in time.

I'm not very happy about that.

I've heard people saying that all future EA games will require Origin. If true then I have a pre-order to cancel.

EA is awesome and great at driving the stake through PC gaming. You know, the platform that made them into the serious business it is nowadays.

I'm not sure if I want to help EA facilitate this, so I might end up skipping ME3. Do you remember those money you were going to get for Dead Space 2? I hope Supergiant Games are enjoying them.

I understand and applaud your stance but it does little to deter thousands of other buyers.

Thing is, I want to buy the game without having to prove my honesty by allowing them access to my system. Nonetheless, if it boils down to being the only option I will use a crack and pretty much give them the finger. There are smarter people out there than them making countermeasures to invasion of privacy everyday.

Agree.
I will NOT have people dictate installing programs on my system. Period.
I will DEFINETLY not install SPYWARE regardless of being official or not.

If this is true... I cancel my CE Pre-Order.
Incidentlaly... if thus applies to TOR... thats another Pre-Order to cancel and a complete boycott of any EA games that demand this feature.

And people wonder why i pirate and buy games at the same time, ea will not get origins on my systems, i have already a very close watch on steam, i will not watch packets from another "We dont trust you paying consumer system" that does nothing good

(remember steam community, cloud functionality, steamworks for source mods etc)

I have to say I am not comfortable with that EULA attached to Origin.  I don't have Origin installed on my PC and after reading that EULA I won't ever let it touch my PC.  No I don't pay through the nose for games and expect to have EA going through my recycle bin like some down and out hobo.

I am not going to cancel my ME 3 pre-order just yet, this is a wait and see situation.  I know BF 3 will use Origin (no longer buying that) but until ME 3 is confirmed to use Origin then I will keep the pre-order going.  Although I do expect at some point I will be cancelling the pre-order, it seems EA is hell bent on forcing people to install Origin.

I've bought games that require Steam to be used when playing them ..that er..no longer...are required to use Steam to play.

I'll take the same path with origins.

The thing is, I've also on many, many occasions noticed quite a jump in load times and framerates when..."disabling" the forced used of additional software requirements.

I can understand the need to push your way onto the market through products like Steam, Origin, Ubisoft Online Must Check Every 3 Seconds....but seriously....I often wonder just how much more damaging to the PC games market and / or games market as a whole this course is.

I've got games that I really wanted to play so was practically forced to purchase on xbox so I didn't have to go through all the software log on's and online checks (poor Internet reliability and speed, yes there are millions like me too), and there is an even longer list of games that I decided looked like too much hassle and didn't purchase at all. I wonder how many players experienced the bloated log on procedures and performance hits and attributed it to the PC platform as opposed to the DRM those games had and were scarred for life.

I really hope not. If Mass Effect 3 requires Origin I will have no choice but to skip it. I'd love to complete the trilogy but I'm not going to bother with Origin as long as the current EULA remains in place.

LOL I love how some people say "its fighting piracy"... by violating the privacy of people who legitimately bought the game.

Awesome to hear those comments indeed, while it's the legit players who are (usually adversely) affected by it. Pirates crack the game within 1 - 3 days and can play the game properly without installing annoying additional software.:pinched:

Right. Because PC gamers (although that also applies to console gamers) have no other options for acquiring said games?
