Apparently they disagree with your point of view. They think this risk will pay off - literally. It's up to the consumers to decide whether or not they succeed or fail. All I can say for certain is that they won't be getting my money if they don't either 1. Satisfactorily change their EULA OR 2. Allow ME3 to be played without Origin.

But what in the world is worth risking so much? Origin would've been exactly as succesful (and more likely even more) if it didn't have these spyware characeristics og gathering all information about console/computer/user.

Nah. In relative terms the Origin thing is known by few people. That leaves hundreds of thousands of unaware users ripe for the picking. This is factored into the business model and still allows them to meet projections.

EULA Trivia Question:  Where did the following quote appear (please note that I have edited out the company name and inserted COMPANY X):

'You acknowledge and agree that COMPANY X has developed such Confidential Information by the investment of significant time, effort and expense, and that such Confidential Information provides COMPANY X with a significant competitive advantage in its business; you acknowledge and agree that a breach of this Agreement by You will therefore result in irreparable harm to COMPANY X, the extent of which would be difficult to ascertain, and in any event money damages will be inadequate as a remedy in the event of such a breach. Accordingly, You agree that in the event of a breach of this Agreement by You, COMPANY X shall be entitled to injunctive, or other equitable relief as the court deems appropriate, in addition to any other remedies which it may have available.'

Absolutely. Now on the other hand, if they feel the need to bend me over a barrel (without lube) and try to rape my system for information I'm going with the buy & crack. Pirates (in this case) are not the enemy.

we here are a tiny drop in the ocean, we are VASTLY outnumbered by people who either don't know, or don't care. Look what happened with the Star Wars Bluray "boycott"

Important Update!!

Question to all here: Can I get a confirm to EA changing the Origin policy?! I was just installing the Battlefield 3 Beta and I read thru Origin and it said NOTHING on evasion of privacy all together! It was like it was wiped out of it! I dont know if they modified it for the beta, but all the looking thru your PC, mobile, hard drives, etc and given all info to whomever they wanted wasnt in there! Unless I missed it somehow reading thru the wall of text, It looks like they may have removed that part of the contract! Someone go on PSN, Live and PC and confirm it! If so ME3 will be ALL GREEN!

Just removing the words in the EULA doesn't mean squat.

They didn't change the software and I highly doubt that they ever will.

If you really need Origin do as follow:
1.
Buy yourself a HDD DOCK station for HD [2.5 or 3.5].
And install Origin on this external HD.

2.
Install CCleaner and make a schedule for erasing all files in the
C:\\Users\\Shepard\\AppData\\Local\\Origin\\Web Cache folder
C:\\ProgramData\\Origin\\Logs folder
C:\\ProgramData\\Origin\\Telemetry folder

3.
Then run the CCleaner everytime you use the Origin application.

And deny the Origin client to access the internet in your firewall.

Make CCleaner run every five minutes when connected to internet playing.

If this help I don't know, but you can try.

aang001, it's a beta version. You cannot compare a beta version EULA with a production version EULA. Two different things.

Inge, thanks for the hint but I'm not willing to buy additional hardware or install additional software for protecting my system against this spyware! Nope, that is the wrong way. Next month another publisher/developer decides to use another spyware and someday I have 4 computers and 10 hard disks here only for playing games? And most of the time I'm busy with controlling the adjustments to prevent suspicious data transfers? Really funny future of gaming. No, I will not play this type of game!

I'm with you on this one.
I'm against piracy, but forcing me to install a "legal" spywere is just immoral. I've already pre-orderd ME3, but if I'll have to wait until a crack comes out just to prevent EA from doing 1984's "Big Brother" on my PC, I'll wait another YEAR.

It's just a suggestion. If you're a PC nerd, I guess you already have what I suggest.:pinched:

I think a Bioware dev should step in and give us an answer here because I'd like to know if I should be canceling my preorder of ME3.

Agree.
I will NOT have people dictate installing programs on my system. Period.
I will DEFINETLY not install SPYWARE regardless of being official or not.

If this is true... I cancel my CE Pre-Order.
Incidentlaly... if thus applies to TOR... thats another Pre-Order to cancel and a complete boycott of any EA games that demand this feature.

Yeah, if origin is required for ME3 or TOR, definitely gonna have to cancel my pre-orders.
