So multiplayer has been confirmed. I wonder if that means Origin requirements is also confirmed. How else are they going to do multiplayer on PC without steam?
I have a feeling you're right...which sucks.
I'm not going to download Origin. The ToS stinks! It isn't "doing something everyone does," it isn't "no big deal," and it isn't a matter of having "something to hide."
It's a matter of principle for me and I won't use it!

It's not over yet, ME1&2 had internet dependent features(all the DLC) without requiring Origin. Now of course Origin wasn't released back then, but still, there's room for some hope.Computer_God91 wrote...

Barely. I don't recall if ME3 was confirmed to not be sold on steam and if it was it's fate is sealed. How are they going to do multiplayer without Origin or Steam?elitecom wrote...

Hope is not lost.
Neds Origin to install however, I think, so that might be the way ME3 is going.

Hope is not lost.SW:TOR does not require Origin I believe, and it is obviously massivly multiplayer.

Wait a minute. Sw:tor needs Origin to install? Not to get off topic but.
Edit:
Nevermind I found my own answer:

Star Wars: The Old Republic will not require the Origin desktop application to download, patch or play the game, regardless of whether the game was originally purchased through Origin or at a retail outlet.
Here's the link. Almost crapped my pants there for a second. I was planning on getting SW:TOR.

There's still hope as TOR doesn't require Origin for anything (expect if you buy digital version of course that's only available through Origin).
Indeed. SWTOR will run without ever installing Origin, for which I am very glad. I really hope Origin is not required to install ME3 either, only required if you do multiplayer. I won't play multiplayer anyway and I flat out refuse to install Origin, even for a few minutes until Install is complete. Who knows what those shady guys at EA programmed Origin to do. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if some file keeps scanning your pc even after you uninstall Origin, I'm not taking that risk....

OOps, OK I'm getting old and senile. I'll stop posting nonsense now..
That's even better then. Multiplayer obviously doesn't require Origin to play.

I find this hard to believe when I look at facebook. Sometimes I feel like an island....
I'm not against sharing how many hours I play or what PC I have, that's not top secret.
But I just want to have a choice if I want to share this information.

Ah come on we all know we'll give it a shot just to see what it's like.

I don't think just cause SW:TOR doesn't require Origin that makes ME3 have any less odds that it will. An MMO is very different from a singleplayer turned co-op game.

I might try out co-op once I've finished the single player campaign with all my characters. Unless, and I think i've said this a few times already, it requires origin to be installed. I will not have that software on my pc. So unless co-op can be played without Origin, no co-op for me....

Mass Effect 3 will require Origin to run in the background for the verification of your purchase and tracking of in-game achievements. Updates and patches will be applied automatically through Origin. Origin is currently in a beta state. Our development team is working around the clock to improve the application's performance and we have full confidence that Origin will both enhance and enrich your gaming experience upon the launch of Mass Effect 3.

If this is the case and EA already KNOW that ME 3 will require Origin then why haven't Bioware come out and told us ........ oh wait I forgot they have a habit of deceiving their fanbase. As much as I love the ME franchise (despite the idiocy of MP) in my books Origin is a deal breaker, I can ignore multiplayer but I can't ignore a piece of spyware like Origin on my PC.

What exactly IS the big issue with Origin? Is it simply the fact that it keeps you from using Steam? Is it a stupid UI like GFWL? Or does it have to do with ****ty DRM? Someone educate me.

Monitors your computer usage and activity, by I agreeing the EULA you sign a blank cheque to EA to acces your computer, even to sell this information to 3rd parties (anonimously, but I think this was finally removed)staindgrey wrote...

One major issue is the it scans your computer, yes your entire computer, for data. Makes a profile of it and sells it off to third parties.

You're ****ing kidding me. Is there actual proof of this or is it hearsay? (I'm not demanding proof or anything, but I tend to take random forum comments with a grain of salt until I find other evidence.)
There's so much wrong with that if it's true.

If you go back in this thread a few pages we were all talking about it and someone quoted what I just said from Origins EULA itself!
