Complete and utter bull****, destroying an already frail PC market.

So this. After the rise of the internet, NOTHING but the publishers themselves are responsible for declining PC sales. Draconian spying DRM, making the consumers feel like a criminals for buying legitimate copies, limited installations nonsense and most importantly DELAYED releases. Don't cry on me Ubi/EA/Activision that "we have to do it because people pirate our games". Bullcrap. You used poison to 'cure' the disease. Publishers did nothing but add to the list of reasons why not to buy games on PC or pirate them. /rant

If you dont want Origin, buy it hard copy, or on a console. Get it as a PC digital download, and you will have to contend with it.

The question is, will the hard copy require Origin?

Hard copy BF3 requires Origin to install and play. I pray it's different for ME3. Origin is a real game killer for me, unless someone comes up with a good way to avoid Origin's sneaky computer scanning business. Since priestly said PC version of ME3 uses windows live for multiplayer, I guess that's good news. There's no reason to make Origin mandatory to play the game now... Then again, when does EA listen to reason. They only know 1 word and that's 'money'

What?? GFWL????????????

Can I get a source plx?

Here. It's a sad sad day for Pc gaming when spyware gets forced on you to play a certain game. I'll put up with it this once and try to firewall Origin every step of the way to prevent it from spying on my pc just because I really want ME3. After that, no more EA games for me. I don't mind a little DRM, it's the publisher's right to protect their property, but I draw a line when you need to install spyware first, then play a game, and don't even get me started on the 'always online' DRM. I will NEVER buy a game like that.

That link doesn't mention anything about Mass Effect 3, which was the question.

He was asking for a source for the statement that Mass Effect 3 would be using Games for Windows Live.

And the question still remains.

Will Origin be required to play ME3?

An answer from a Bioware representative would be very much appreciated.

Jesse Houston tweeted that he is preparing a FAQ with regard to how Mass Effect 3 uses Origin.  So I get the feeling from that bit of info that Mass Effect 3 will use Origin the question is "to what extent ?".  If Origin is required for MP then that is perfectly fine with me since I have no intention of touching the mp.  However forcing Origin on me to play the single player component of Mass Effect 3 (even to just install the game) is unacceptable.

Anyway hopefully we will get our answers soon with this FAQ, here is the tweet :-

@LittleWorldHere We're still working out the details around Origin. We're releasing a FAQ soon about how we're planning on using it.

You should have pointed him to this thread. He'll get a lot or reasons why people are so passionate about it. Nice job getting a response. :)

Let's take this questions, and many other questions you might have about the recent ME3 announcement, to this FAQ thread. More information is coming tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 12). Thank you.

End of line.
