Am I one of the few that isn't thrilled at the idea of Jack and Miranda returning as Squadmates?

I understand that many people liked or loved these characters. Hell I enjoyed them myself. But I am honestly not thrilled at the thought they might be back in ME3. Of the ME2 squadmates they were the least interesting IMO. I still liked their stories but I just wasn't as compelled to talk to them as I was with Legion, Mordin, and Thane.

Anyone else think this way?

(No I don't dislike these characters as stated above)

Well i completely disagree. I want Miranda back. Would also quite like Legion back but Miri is most important.

Keep in mind that the squad will most likely not work exactly the way it did in previous games. That is almost a necessity, given the amount of variables and returning characters (dead or not dead in imported games).

You might have more choice as to who stays on your squad over the long term, for example. Or there might be only a very few "permenant" squad mates and a lot of temporary ones (likely).

Mordin I believe has more or less been confirmed as one of those temp squad mates. I would expect the same for Thane and Grunt tbh. With Miranda, Jack and Legion, I think you might get them on the squad for a more extended period, depending on your choices.

As for what I personally want, well, I want Miranda on the squad. I like the idea of following up on her tension with Jack, though, which might potentially lead to Jack replacing her depending on player choice. With Legion, you might be faced with a similar choice re: Tali and the Geth/Quarian war.  Whereas with Miranda and Jack the argument would be over what to do with Cerberus.

Miranda and Jack are far more interesting than some other characters. They can contribute a lot more to the history in ME3 than Garrus, Grunt, Thane, or Zaeed. I dont dislike those characters, is just that they dont see to have any major relevance in the history. By example:

-Liara is the SB.
-VS is the new Spectre.
-Tali could be a candidate to future admiral (if she isnt exiled).
-Wrex Leader of Krogans.
-Miranda her background with cerberus (she couldbe a key char to bring cerberus down) and her father (richest human in the galaxy)
- Jack background with cerberus
- Mordin: helping the Krogans.
- Legion: it's like a geth embassador, and he could be important for the geth/quarian peace.
- Kasumi:the contents inside the grey box.

Garrus isn't important in any kind of organization, and isnt important among Turians. Thane is about to die in ME3 (he said that a cure for him its about years to happen). Grunt is a tank.breed (maybe he could be important if he repopulates tuchanka with the krogan princess xD). Zaeed is just a mercenary.

Even tought i said that, i still want  my badass team (Shepard, Garrus and Wrex).

I fully expect Miri and Legion back as Full time squad mates as they have the most importance as far as plot goes from ME2.

I wish people could choose their squad. That would be the best fan service ever. Then everyone would be happy. Sadly it's not feasible

Oh yes Wrex, Thane, Legion, Mordin, Tali, and Liara are my favorite characters. I don't mind Jack (don't care about her either way really), and Miranda strikes me as a dull, shallow sex object. IMHO

I never knew they were announced as possible squadmates.

Add Garrus and Legion to that list and we have my favorites. That's one epic crew I want to have in ME3

You make a valid point sir. But I could totally see Garrus becoming a Spectre. I mean the turians must need to refill their ranks in the Spectres since Turian spectre seem to be dropping like flies. One was shot in the head and the other turned out to be the biggest traitor in history.

Why?

I'm curious because the topic title actually seems misleading.

I definitely don't want squatmates but if Jack returns as a squadmate, even if it's temporarily which it most likely will be, then I'm good.

OP, you're not the only one. Ok, let's say if Miranda change her outfit, then I might change my mind, but I don't want Jack on my ship again.
Too shame that we don't get a chance to recruit those we like, so every character would be optional, but number of teammates would affect on mission success.

Is that why she is important to you?

I'd love to have them back on the squad. Personally, I'm kind of annoyed that we're getting back Tali as a permanent squad member (possibly permanent, anyway) instead of someone interesting, so it goes different ways.

I personally dont like Jack or Miranda, or Jacob.

The rest of ME2s characters I liked more or less but not those three.

Miranda annoys me with her superiority-inferiority complex and the camera angles constantly focussing on her ass and ******. I mean honestly I found it sexist in the extreme.

Jack is a sociopath who needs extensive therapy to sort out her issues; with the result I found it impossible to relate to her.

And Jacob. Dear god Jacob. The most inappropriate crew member ever.
Hale's VA for talking with Jacob is all "I want into your pants sexy black man!" and his responses are often just lecherous.
And his interaction with ManShep is like "dude im your bro man!" after one conversation and im like "we have done nothing to warrant us being 'bros' get away from me you mental case."
Seriously, Garrus was my bro, not this boring idiot.

So I am quite happy at them not being perma squaddies.
