Am I one of the few that isn't thrilled at the idea of Jack and Miranda returning as Squadmates?

but if there is someone supposed to go then kick out the utterly useless and boring Tali
together with the totally un interesting Jacob
heck i would be happy never to deal with those two again but that is just my opinion
edit : sadly it won't happen i suppose unless i have em killed during the SM
and deal with the conesquenses of that in ME3 but so be it...

She has access to the worst ability in the game (shockwave - it's a situational power and you have to line yourself up to get the most benefit from it...since you can't see Jack and her position, the ability hits half as many enemies as you usually want) and has to put points into it in order to get pull.
Pull is good - if it had a shorter cooldown for squadmates. Sure you can get pull field (and I do love pull field) but then you can't get squad warp ammo. Not to mention warp ammo is practically useless. You already do double damage on enemies that are "ragdolled" and the small bonus damage done to the other shields and barriers are almost non-existent, they go down fast anyway.
She's stupid enough that she thinks she can take on a YMIR mech up close with her shotgun. She...is probably the worst AI on the squad.
As for her character..she...just frustrates me. If she is suppose to be a psychopath she is not to have emotion of any kind. REAL psychopaths don't show emotion. You can romance Jack and that's when you realize she just has a tough exterior. Jack isn't a psychopath but rather a reaaallly screwed up person. I just...can't stand her. I thought she'd be my favorite too. I went into the game thinking "she's going to be a kick ass biotic!" - no. She's weak. I promised myself I'd never use her again and I haven't.
When I found out she was a squadmate my reaction was ..oh **** - god effing no. So I agree with you OP. I would rather not have Jack if at all possible. Lol. Sorry for this rant about Jack - she just annoys me!

Fenris had the decency to crack a funny joke every now and again. Miranda just took up space on my ship and refused to die on the suicide mission.

lol Miranda died on the Suicide Mission way to easy even if i was trying to keep her alive
i noticed that as soon one squadmate is not loyal there is a verry high chance Miranda will be the one who is paying for it
and it makes little difference who is not loyal unless that character dies

BioWare can't please everyone. Whatever they do,somebody will be unhappy. And those characters not being part of the squad could mean they will have more important roles. Either way, there is no point complaining.dnovy wrote...

I'll be behind Bioware regardless of what characters they include. As long as it turns out to be a good game with good plot and engaging character interactions, I'll feel like I've gotten my money's worth. But I still don't mind expressing my discontent with Miranda's characterGhost Warrior wrote...

oke that''s the easiest way but i had her die at numerous occasions even when she was Loyal and other characters not loyal who did survive like unloyal Tali --> Miranda loyal dies when taken to the final fight
garrus not loyal ---> Miranda loyal dies
and this are only 2 of the many ways she can end up dead

Jack... eh, I can take her or leave her. She's pretty interesting, so I wouldn't mind having her around. I'd certainly trade Thane for her in a heartbeat. Thane bores me to tears. He's one of those characters where I think all the excitement and creativity was used up on his concept (the sexy alien assassin with a spiritual side, a very foreign moral code, and an estranged son) and then actually fell flat in-game. He was just so very meh. I didn't like Samara either for the same reason, though she's still better than Thane.
I maintain that Thane and Samara should have been one character, since they both fill the role of meditative "warrior monk"-type with a lot of regret. How awesome would that have been? If Thanemara was an assassin for justice, with a Justicar-like moral code. Thanemara discovers that his/her estranged child (Kolyinth?) has a very romanticized vision of their parent and idolizes him. Kolyinth wants to follow in Thanemara's footsteps but doesn't truly understand what it means to be a Justicassassin and ends up committing a lot of evil, unjust acts, possibly becoming power-mad from all the independence. Thanemara's moral code dictates that he has to kill Kolyinth, and Shepard can allow it or intervene and save Kolyinth's life.
... er, sorry for that tangent.

I am really, really hoping that Miranda comes back. Miranda is one of those characters that has slowly grown on me with each playthrough until she became one of my favorites. My reaction to her the first time I played was somewhere between neutral and rolling my eyes at the blatant fanservice. But I came to really, really like her character. It helps that she's the most useful squaddie to bring along at any given time, too. Sentinels are the best support characters. In ME1, my team was always Kaidan and Garrus. In ME2, it was always Miranda and Garrus. So basically those 3 are the only characters I desperately want as full-time squadmates in ME3.

Bolded: ROTFLMAO! I agree with you completely as I couldn't hep but think the same thing about the 2 of them...no wonder I always take samara with me when I recruit Thane...and Thane on Samara's loyalty mission( though he has no imput or interaction in the quest at all). The only think I found useful about Samara was Reave( my bonus power for my Vanguards)....and Thane... well he has warp...but Miri already has that at the start of the game n by that point has it maxed out for me usually, so even from a gameplay standpoint I'm not sure exactly how useful the 2 of them are. Samara is slightly more useful n interesting than Thane for reasons mentioned above and from a gamplay standpoint.

garrus not loyal ---> Miranda loyal dies
and this are only 2 of the many ways she can end up dead
Then you have one very bugged game because it is impossible for a loyal squadmate to die when taken to the final battle.
The ONLY way Miranda can die in a non-bugged version of the game is...
Taking her non-loyal to the final battle (just same as any non-loyal squadmate)
Having her as non-loyal squadmate left to defend the door with the average squad score being less than 2 and none of the following being non-loyal (Jack, Kasumi, Tali and Mordin) defending the door along with her unless get the score to level to kill of 2 or more squadmates.
Check this topic for clarification...
Edit: As for this topic, I think Ghost Warrior said it best earlier, if oyu don't want to see Jack and Miranda in ME3, simple, kill them off.
One other point to mention, they haven't been confirmed as squadmates yet anyway so I don't see why you are worrying.
