Uh why? Who cares about being a Spectre, you get more freedom being a merc like Zaeed. Only reason people want Garrus as a Spectre, is because people are obsessed with the title for some reason, hence the VS' addition to the ranks. Garrus can do what Garrus does, whether he has the title or not.

Being a Spectre could very well give Garrus the freedom of authority he feels he needs to do the job right. He has the skills, the drive, and the ruthlessness to accomplish the mission. Shepard's recommendation would be one way for him to attain Spectre (as any Spectre can qualify any soldier they deem worthy after a trial period). But I'd prefer he figure out his own path than have it given it to him. Just hope it doesn't end at the barrel of a rifle in a standoff between Shepard and him.

I really can't see Garrus as a Spectre after ME2. He sounded really tired of authorities. He only joined Shepard because well 1) Shepard wanted him regardless of knowing the true identity and 2) TIM was apparently paying a huge sum. Garrus sounds like a vigilante and mercenary to me.
I'll be very surprised if Garrus decides to go Spectres or heavens forbid ... C-Sec.

I wasn't aware the Illusive man was paying Shep's crew. I thought he only paid Zaeed and Kasumi since they were a merc and a theif for hire. The rest I thought were doing it for Shep and the good of the galaxy not a paycheck.

Nah. I could never see Garrus and Shep ever getting into a stand off. Garrus respects Shep too much to do that.

He's not worthy, sorry. He's good guy ( not as good as he was in ME1), but I don't think he's Spectre material.

Garrus for spectre depends on his part in ME3 imo. If he is used to rally the reluctant Turians behind Shepard (and then of course Shepards warnings are proven right) then the council may feel they owe him spectre. I liked someone's earlier suggestion that a paragon Garrus would be C-Sec Executor and Renegade a Spectre.

P.S: Agree Jacob would be a good spectre. Has the right moral stuff - honour, competence and loyalty. Likewise with Mordin, even more so for Mordin who has a streak of ruthlessness if the situation calls for it (who can forget those heads on a pike outside the omega clinic warning off the mercs). Hopefully we see more of the salarians in ME3.

Why do people even want Garrus to be spectre? Spectres work for the council. Garrus doesn’t like the council or taking orders from people he doesn’t respect (which is also a reason for the council not to want to make him a spectre in the first place) He was already doing his own thing on omega, he doesn’t need to be a spectre. I think he fits more with just being a vigilante.

No because he'd probably quit the first time the Council blocks him from getting the job done. Garrus certainly has the skills but lacks to discipline to cut it as a Spectre.

Should something happen to Shepard (like he/she dies in ME3) I could see Garrus going Spectre.
