You wouldn't need Omega or Illium. Image the entire CItadel as an open world game with wards being their own districts connected by the presidium. It would be awesome. Or how about a world building game where you choose how you want to start : Human with government/ company backing or a turian islotionist and you choose which planet you want your colony ship to land on be it a garden world or a lifeless rock rich in minerals. You then try to make your world as succesful as you can while fighting off pirate raids, alien wildlife, and natural disasters. You start off where you want to land like near a river or something and from there you expand your colony and try to get more people into your colony and eventually you try to colonize the other planets in your colonies solar system.kalpain wrote...

As said before the universe is too rich to simply abandon after the third installment/. I can literally think up a game right now set in the mass effect universe that would work. A mass effect racing game using the aircars allowing you to race through the cities of mass effect like the Citadel or Eden Prime. Or how about a gta clone where you play as a member of c-sec on an open world Citadel trying to stop a terrorist plot and other potential crimes. See as I said too rich, if you think of something you can easily make it fit in the ME universe.
I would play this Citadel game of yours.
The first idea I had for a post ME3 game was about Mouse rising up and becoming the crime boss of the Citadel. Considering his character in ME2 I figured it would be interesting to be able to play as him growing and developing his character into some type of badass. Whether it be a crime boss or a C-Sec agent or some other position of power on the Citadel. Just as long as it made the Citadel (and possibly Omega & Illium) just massively open worlds for us to explore and interact with the various galactic races.
should the mass effect series contunie after the main trillogy is compleate

I would love to see a GTA style Mass Effect game starring Mouse, Captain Gavorn or Shiala. Set on the Citadel, Omega and Illium. Make it more of crime drama rise to power or mystery type story. Just let me explore more of those 3 locations as complete open worlds and I will be content. It doesn't have to be some big save the galaxy story. Just make it interesting and adventurous and I will be all in.
I dispise GTA and all related games. I microwave their disks whenever I get the chance to.
this makes me a sad panda.
Open world sand box style games are my favorite and GTA are easily the best.
Sandbox worlds are just fine by me. I love Fallout 3 and others like it. I just detest GTA for the gameplay that it provides. It to me is dispicable to turn such acts into forms of entertainment just like I hate that MW2 had that "No Russian" level (I think it was MW2). I dont care if its optional, there is no excuse for having that in a game. Fictional or not it is not a form of entertainment to me and only spits upon victims of such evens in our actual world.
oh well in that case you shouldn't play any violent game whatsoever or your a hypocrite.

Unless they want to expand the story in generations and have a ME4 set 500 years after the events of ME1-3 where Shepard is a mythical figure that no-one believes existed at all ... you could have a lot of fun there.

I am no hypocrite. I find violence along the lines of GTA and its like to be an abomination. I am fine with blasting fictional aliens and zombies to dust. I am not fine when situations that actually occur in the present day are turned into entertainment, even more so when younger and younger people have access to them.
To me that is the devaluation of life. And its companies dancing on the graves of those who have suffered through such an event and or loss.
Disagree with me all you wish, but please do not insult me for holding a completely valid viewpoint.

You are correct. A fleshed out open world sandbox of the Citadel would make for a something amazing. Omega and Illium are just other places I would like to explore. Any one of those locations would be ripe for a massive open world sandbox. Or in my dreams, all of them in the same game...
World building might be interesting. What you described made me think of Sim City. Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing in the Mass Effect Universe. Just not sure how much I would personally be into a game like that.

Without a Doubt... The writers of the Cerberus Daily News reports did a bang up job of making it clear that:
"The Galaxy Without the Reapers" is still a very eventful, exciting, dangerous and very interesting place to live in.

You just had to go all negative on that, didn't you
I guess the DA:O to DA2 experience would be a bit disheartening.
Heh, yes there is some small part of me that would love to see what happens to the Chief and Cortana next...but it destroys the ending that Halo 3 had.
To me, making a Halo 4 is kind of like making the movie 'Titanic 2'.
It's just a sequel to a completely concluded story, that should never have been made, and is only being made, for money. Ah, I don't want to derail this thread though. Time will tell about Halo 4 I guess!
Halo 1-3 didn't answer all of my questions.... I would love a real time or turn based strategy game set in the ME universe... designed for hardcore strategy gamers of course.

I wrote.....
Prepare for a wall-o-text
I'd like to see something set in near future after the defeat of the Reapers. Here's how I'd like to see it:
Takes place 5 to 10 years after ME3. In ME3, Shepard and company defeated the Reapers with finality. They're dead, gone, and not coming back. Shepard survived the Reaper War as did his crew, so they can make cameo
appearances if desired, but this isn't particularly necessary.
The Council (no matter which one it was in your playthrough) was mostly or completely dissolved after the Reaper War. A new Council was formed, which Anderson sits on as humanity's representative (if you chose him in
ME1, he keeps his job. If you chose Udina in ME1, Udina gets his ass shot off in ME3 and Anderson takes over).
The homeworlds of humanity, the asari, the turians, and the salarians were saved from complete annihilation during the war, however the damage to all was extensive. The asari, turians, and salarians in particular have had a hard time as they also lost a lot of very large, prosperious colony worlds. Earth has lost perhaps 1/3 of its population (about 3 billion). Every race lost a lot of its heavy industries during the war.
The Quarians regained Rannoch and a few colony worlds. They are rebuilding, but have no military assistance to offer outside defending their own worlds. The Quarians have also been granted an embassy on the Citadel for their assistance during the Reaper War. The Migrant Fleet has been dismantled for resources to rebuild their worlds.
The Geth have completed their Dyson Sphere and almost all of them reside there at the moment, happy to be left alone.
By the time of ME4, reconstruction is going on in a big way, but for the near term none of the major races can project military power like they could previously. The Batarians and the various minor states of the Terminus Systems have stepped into this power vacuum. The Citadel races are able to do little beyond defend the heart of their own territory. As a result, various Terminus systems states have occupied large swathes
of territory that once belonged to the humans, asari, turians, and salarians. The Council races are able to defend their homeworlds and their central, most wealthy surviving colonies. Outside of this small slice of civilized space, the rest of the galaxy has turned into the Wild West.
During all this turmoil, something happens with the mass relay network. No one is for sure why it happened or what caused it. One day, every mass relay in the entire damned galaxy activated. All of them. This puts the Council into a panic. Currently, Council law states that a dormant relay cannot be activated if the location of
the endpoint is not known. This law is to prevent another Rachni type disaster. Now, however, there are hundreds, possibly thousands of unexplored, previously dormant relays that are now active.
The Council starts recruiting every explorer and mercenary they can afford, and sends what military forces they can spare to explore the newly opened relays. The protagonist / player character is a former soldier from the Reaper War that the Council recruits as part of this effort. You will be able to choose between being a Human (former Alliance Marine), a Turian (former Turian Army soldier), an Asari (former Asari commando in the service of the Armali Council), a Quarian (former Migrant Fleet Marines combat engineer), or a Krogan (an Urdnot Battlemaster who made a name for himself during the Reaper War).
With all the Mass Relays active now, the galaxy just got a lot bigger, a lot more mysterious, and possibly a lot more dangerous.
The tone of this series would be different. Shepard's trilogy is an epic space opera, with huge stakes. This one would be more a dry humored, rambunctious romp across the galaxy. There'd still be dire situations with seriously evil badguys, but we would likely not be looking at something like the Reapers again.
I also have no interest in an MMO. If Bioware wants to make one, that's fine, but I won't play it. If they make an MMO set just after ME3, and make it story-line neutral, and then use the profits to fund the next ME trilogy as I
detailed above, I'm completely good with that.
And let me add something. I want to a barfight scene. An epic barfight in Afterlife. With ZZ Top playing Lagrange in the background.

With that thinking we never would have recieved the republic commando games, starfighter series, jedi knight academy, x-wing and tiefighter game, etc from the starwars universe.
Can't get any more gems if we don't get more games.

ME4 should have Shepard in retirement, or perhaps in treatment for PTSD like 80% of the galaxy. There's a lot of rebuilding to do, and there's a lot of new discoveries to be made. Will it be anti-climatic to the Reaper War? Yes. Can it still be a good story? Yes.
I expect the remaining Batarian Hegomony and the SA to fight side by side against the Reapers, but afterward? There are too many grudges and stuff. Perhaps some black ops story line like with Anderson and Saren in the first book, maybe SA vs BH. But again you're looking at a DA2 type game, but let's make our own narrative. An immersive plot in the ME universe somewhere about 25 yrs after the defeat of the Reapers. Shepard is older and retired, or maybe running a merc band, or soaking her feet in the sand somewhere drinking serrice ice brandy or selling Presidium Sushi to Krogan.
You get to do something else. No big ship, but a shuttle instead, or perhaps you have to use *gasp* public transit. Whatever. It doesn't have to be a big super boss that's even worse than the Reapers.
