I discovered George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire Series (A Game of Thrones to many of you) back in the last 90s and have loved the series since.
I was kinda shocked that only one little mod was on the DA for the series (A cool one though) and wanted to make a project on that series for DA.
While I am contemplating making one based on the series (or maybe go with more of how HBO is doing it a little more than the books) I wanted to take my hand and create a story that in the mythos of the series items.
The Story: If you have read the stories you have heard of the Long Night. It was the first time the Others had come. To wipe out all those who were not them and never allow Summer to come forth upon the land again. Valient heroes with the help of the Greenseers were able to push back the Others, the Long Night, and win back the land. To enforce that the Wall and other supreme castles were brought forth from the earth, forged with spells and the sweat of man, to help protect the realm of men from the Others.
So, the story will begin with the Others pushing back the First Men and how the heroes of that era stopped the Endless Night.
Why did I choose this exact settling?
- Allows more magic
- I find that it allows a bigger leeway with the creation of characters and heroes. With the books (or even events preceeding the books) I would want to go as close as possible to the books but with this time setting I can do whatever I wish in terms of storyline and heroes as long as it fits in on the basics that have been told/revealed to fans.
- Because I think it's cool that a bunch of Greenseers armed with Obsidian and the First Men with their bronze went forth and kicked some icy cold Other butt's and turned around and helped raise the Wall, Winterfell, and Storm's End.
Currently, would love help on everything and anything. I do have the framework of the story completed (using Westeros.org and other sources, I plan on trying to contact George RR Martin to see if he is willing at all to throw me a bone on some details I feel I wish I had - I know he has helped 'community works' before but I won't hold my breathe. It is still my biggest disappointment that I couldn't see him at a book signing locally because of the huge crowds - esp. due to the HBO show).
Right now also working on the initial area. I do hope to have three unique starting locations (one for Greenseers and two for the First Men)
