That's  a valid opinion, of course. But If you're so against all the choices or the story why do you play it, I ask. I mean, If I knew I wouldn't like the story of a game I wouldn't play it. Even more when story is a very important part of the game, like in ME.

I mean, we are already almost sure that Shepard is not going to surrender and be melted (I know you would probably like that but face it, it's not going to happen) or just give up or something like that.

It's just I can't understand how you could you possibly want if you were Shepard (and experienced all that happened to him) at anytime to be melted or indoctrinated. I mean come on, seriously.

You play how you want but in the end you're supposed to be a hero. Not someone who gives up and "ascends" to Reaper form.

Well it sure is a lot more interesting than the petulant, childish taunting nonsense we get from the omnipotent reapers in ME2.... "This hurts you!"... could've been used by Harby at least to replace his idiotic lines in ME2.

At least it was vague and mysterious and didn't come across as a street yard bully trying to assertive himself over the weaker kids... god Harbinger pisses me off.. why couldn't he be more like Sovereign in his demeanor... bleh.

Now I'm all upset... <grumbles away>

Turning us into Reaper splooge is hardly for the better.

What this piece seems to hint at is that there is a life for you after you're turned into Reaper splooge.  See how they've described the ship as a collection of many "worlds"?  Is each of those worlds one of the souls that went into the Old God?  The Cerberus team was sharing memories.  This piece talks about remembering "all our lives".

Maybe... maybe that's what indoctrination really is. Sharing of thoughts, ideas and memories. That could explain why individuality is lost, because individuality cannot exist in the "network" the Reapers are connected through. Each person affected is a facet of the whole, and intelligence and sapience is reflected through the whole and not through individuals. That's also why indoctrinated eventually join the Reapers - they "reach consensus" with the whole when connected.

Going further on this idea, maybe the genetic goo isn't a vital part of building a reaper from a hardware point, but a manner for them to gain the memories, experiences and ideas of the species they ascend. Genetic memory, and all that jazz.

Yes, absolutely.  I hadn't considered it before but that actually makes more sense than it coming from the Cerberus team - the team were just husk'd, but this sounds like somebody talking from inside a Reaper.

You know how they could have executed this?  Snippets of dialogue that Shepard hears inside her head.  Like the little hiss of dialogue you hear when Anderson is debriefing Shepard after Eden Prime.  "I saw–I don't know what I saw."

In any case, Shepard is stuck in the "Hero" role, not me. My Shepard is not me. He's really not anything like me beyond the fact that he's mistrusting of others.

Yes it is, but still you have to have limitations. Games have limitations. If you could do ALL that you want at ALL times that would be a perfect role-playing game since you would totally be you, doing what you wish at all times. That game doesn't exist.

Also, ME has a different morality system because at the end of the day you're still a hero. Yes you can be a ruthless bastard or a gentle person but still you're a hero and you're supposed to act as that. Those are the "rules" imposed to ME.

You can think and wish what you want, but Shepard is not going to merge with the Reapers.

I'm inclined to agree. Referring to the Reapers as Masters would make sense for them.

You're wrong. It doesn't exist. By all I mean doing (or trying to do, atleast)  what you want and moving wherever you want. Even board RPG have limitations and the GM restricts you to certain paths and to only be capable of doing certain things at certain times.

I can see why it was cut out. This could have been a major spoiler for Mass Effect 3. Reading this while hearing Clint Mansell- Dead Reckoning Bloow my Fraken MIND!!!!
