There is always one line that catches me when flemeth tells hawke "you have my thanks and my sympathy"...it always leaves me thinking...what is that woman up to?
In that instance, I think she was merely foreshadowing the many, many horrible things that are about to happen to Hawke through the course of DA2.
Flemeth CAN see the future, albeit to a limited extent. In The Stolen Throne, she likens it to asking a cat for directions.

Another question might be 'where does she hope to stand when the smoke clears.'
thats1evildude pretty much sums it up for that one line though, imo. If you take Merrill to Sundermount, there is an equally prophetic and cryptic comment made about the elf's "path."

She does? How's that possible? Has this been confirmed?

Er... have you been following DA at all?
Okay, during the quest 'Long Way Home', after giving the amulet to the keeper and performing a Dalish ritual upon it, Flemeth is reborn, as she stored a part of herself within it. If asked "Are you real?" she will comment on the fact that unlike mortals, she is not limited to being in one place at a time. Her current self is merely a piece of herself that she has projected, implying that perhaps she exists beyond space, and even time - considering her knowledge of the future.
And no, there's no confirmation on it being the truth, but most likely is.

There's a clip here...she doesn't say "time" but it's implied. Plus there's the constant prophesizing. It's clear that she sees something - whether it's the actual event in clarity, or just a hazy shade of the winter to come, I don't know.Hawke_12 wrote...

Not only is Flemeth my favorite character in the entire DA Canon, but I think that when all is said and done she may well prove to be the single biggest influence on the Events and History of Thedas.
I hope so. Tbh right now one of the biggest reasons i wont stop playing the DA series is to see whats up with Flemeth. I really wanna know what she is.

Actually that is a comment from Flemeth to the you, game player. She is giving you her thanks because you bought the game and her sympathy because you bought the game.
