What is your top 5 favorite RPG series of all time?

Please, list your top 5 series. Not games, but series.

Mine is:

1. The Witcher
2. Mass Effect
3. Elder Scrolls
4. Pokemon
5. Fable

Dragon Age would be on the list if DA2 didn't dissapoint me so damn much that I didn't even finish the damn game.

I have to admit, I have never played the Baldur's Gate series, though I've heard great stories about it so it might actually get into my top 5 if I ever get to play the BG games.

I don't think I've even played five different videogame RPG series.

Hmm in no order...

Final Fantasy (Loved or liked most of them till 10, then it went down like a paid off boxer in the 4th round.)
Tales of: (most of the games in this series I rather enjoy)
Fallout, though I've only played three and Vegas.
Mass Effect
Dragon Age

Honorable Mentions, that don't fit with the criteria.

Jade Empire, Legend of Dragoon, and Super Mario RPG are all stand alone so meh.

KOTOR, liked the first, could ****** on the 2nd at points, so much of that game was left undone.

TES so far I've played only two titles, Morrowind, and Oblivion. Given I hated the former and enjoyed the later, I can't really list it, maybe it'll be up in the top 5 after skyrim.

Phantasy Star.games, some of those were hit and miss but solid for the most.

Mass Effect
Shin Megami Tensei
-- I loved all the SMT games, the Persona series, Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga, etc. I just don't want the list to be filled with just SMT series lol.
The Tales series -- if you can cut out Legendia, it would be a great series.
The Wizardry series -- classics ^_^
Atelier Iris -- the first ones were great...the latest ones are okay but seem to have annoying characters for some odd reason.

I wanted to name so many more series, especially some from the PSX era...but I can't discern whether they were truly great or if it's just the nostalgia talking to me.

1. Baldur's Gate
2. Fallout Series (would have been #1 if not for 3 and tactics)
3. Darksun Series (the best TBS combat I've ever played in a RPG)
4. The Neverwinter Nights Series
5. Drakensang Series

No specific order, just list of possible 5 top.

Breath of Fire Series
Final Fantasy series
Star Ocean series
Mass Effect series
Suikoden series

Other wroth mentioning just some out of many

Shining Force series
Phantasy Star series
Wild Arms series
Dragon Quest series
Front Mission (strategy RPG) series
Witcher series
Zelda series
Mana series aka Secret of Mana and others
System Shock series
Fallout series
Deus Ex series
The Elder Scrolls series
Diablo series
Kotor series
Disgaea series
Baldurs Gate series

Can't list DA series as far as I'm concerned it isn't one yet because DA2 is so tacky I choose to pretend it doesn't exist instead consider it a spin off at best much like Dragon Age Legends or at worst the equivilant of Wario in comparison to Mario.

Forgot those two.  Liked DA:2 but guess thats as it reminds me more of JRPGs, though It DID need more work.  Still liked it more than Origins, also didn't consider Zelda to be an RPG, but if it can be then it knocks all of dragon age down into the "mentions" section.

Added more to my list because as always when remember back to what have played over many years more and more keep popping up. But I'm happy enough with what says now listed.

5 series, thats a lot considering how few RPG series were made.

1 Baldur's Gate
2 Fallout
3 Champions of Krynn/Death Knights of Krynn
4 Ultima
5 ....

A lot of games don't qualify because I only played one of them, or only one of them were good.

1. Mass Effect - No RPG series intrigues and immerses me as much as this one does.
2. Elder Scrolls - Mostly for Morrowind, which is one of my favorite games of all time.
3. Chrono Trigger/Cross - There are only two games in this series, but they're both incredible.
4. Final Fantasy - Mostly just the earlier ones, up until VII - everything after that fails.
5. Pokemon - I should've outgrown these games years ago, but they always draw me back in.

I'd love to put Dragon Age, KOTOR, and Fable on that list - but I haven't played DA2 yet, didn't like KOTOR 2, and didn't like Fable 2 or 3.

ME
TES
TOR (can't forget KotOR 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 10 also known as TOR, amirite?)

I could round out the group with Fallout and Fable, but they really are runner-ups. Fable 2 was pretty great, but Fable 3 was garbage, and this new Kinect game sounds awful. I just can't tolerate the grunginess and greys and browns of Fallout 3 and NV very much, and NV just seemed like a glorified expansion rather than a true sequel. Never played the first two or BoS though, and a lot of people liked those (well, not many like BoS).

1) Baldur's Gate
2) Knights of the Old Republic
3) The Elder Scrolls
4) Fallout
5) Final Fantasy

Dragon Age would probably be 5 if 2 did not screw up so much, but FF is holding on for my love of 4, 6, 9 and 12. But I have not had a chance to play the Witcher games yet, so I do not expect it to stay.

#1) Baldur's Gate series (easily)
#2) Fallout series (although 3 and New Vegas aren't as awesome as the first two and Tactics is outright mediocre)
#3) Mass Effect series (it was never a true RPG, but it has a "emotionally engaging" narrative :D)
#4) Final Fantasy series (from IV to X)
#5) The Witcher series

Too bad for the Dragon Age series that I disliked Dragon Age II. Also a pity that there's only one Planescape: Torment game, eh.

Anyone who mentioned FF here, care to explain me why you hated FF9? It was one of my favourites, except for the end boss that came out of nowhere.

I never actually played that one. The only ones I played after FF7 were FF8, FF10, and FF12 - and I hated all three of those.
