That one is the best video yet - really shows what the game is like. Now I'm tempted to buy this one.

2 more days.  Is it wrong for me to hope this game takes over my life for a while like Wizardry, The Bard's Tale, and Ultima before it?

Rather prestigous Finnish Pelit magazine gave it 93/100. Old fart reviewing it was infinitely exited and praised  it for daring to challenge player rather than settling for offering a joyride. Unlike most modern RPGs,  Grimrock tries to defeat you rather than lose in as entertaining fashion as possible.

Something not immediately apparent from videos; exceptionally good puzzles make the beef of the game, not combat or some such.

Suppose I'll buy this!

Not really excited about a modern looking clone of Eye of the Beholder. Even the hoary old strafing tactic is still around. Could be fun for some people that missed out on some oldies that are otherwise still available on GoG/abandonware sites anyway.

When speaking of games and game  genres, I wager word "Clone" serves you better if you use it when describing a game that isn't the sole representator of the entire genre in last..what, 15 years.  It isn't like markets are suffocating with puzzle oriented dungeon crawls.  Sides, wasn't Eye of the beholder just..consolized version of Dungeon Master anyhow?;p

Seriously, name one puzzle heavy  dungeon crawler released in last 15 years?

I have only played bits and pieces of Might and Magic 6, so can't be sure of this.. but as I recall they are purely combat oriented with a minimal  amount of puzzles and such going?

I'll admit I'm pretty tempted to impulse buy this today. But its still not out for another 15 minutes according to steam. Having to wait takes all the fun out of impulse buying.

According to my Steam library, it's out. Or so it seems - I'll know for sure in 22%.

Heh I think those are the same shrooms that wiped my party just now.

Pretty game though. Nice to see this type of game with actual 3d graphics instead of sprites.

LTD  1 -  Monstrous Snail  0

I like it how game's backstory  bothers to justify the abstract, game-y element of 90 degree turns and everyone moving as one. Tis a small thing I know! Combination of an abstract game/rule element and an attempt of " logical" explanation and justification of why this is the case is something I've always found charming.

Game  looks and feels very  promising! Wish I had time for a more focused spin just now.

BTW

There are enemy groups just like you, moving 4 in one tile. Bring some area effect magic with you.:wizard:

Edit:
Im playing the game with Fallout soundtrack, it fits surprisingly :)

Edit part2:

There is minor alchemy in game

BTW just started a new Wizardry 8 walkthorugh.
Really missing how "old" games are unforgiving.

Wizardy 8 was an excellent game, yeah unforgiving is a good term, but fair.

Love the Wizardry serires.

Played Grimrock for about an hour now....... ya I'll be lost in the dungeons for a while.

By the looks of it the game will be supported with developer and user made content down the road also.

Some interesting puzzles but the nice thing is though is that so far they make sense so you can sit down and figure them out without needing to just hit things at random trial and error.

Total Biscuit is a heretic and blasphemer who insulted and mocked the lore of Warhammer 40,000 and the Elderscrolls. I will say that he is funny occasionally, if not unintentionally.

Put a few more hours into the game, really enjoying it.  Can move around the map during combat which can be used strategically and there are some interesting puzzles and traps as well.

Magic system takes a little to get used to as it is rather different from systems in other RPG's but once you get the hang of it.

Only real complaint is that some secret switches are pretty easy to spot.
