Theories on TIM & Cerberus reasoning behind trying to killing Shep in ME3
#1
Posté 26 août 2011 - 02:56
It has been stated that TIM may have been indoctrinated from the start or way before ME2 , if that is true then why rebuild Shep and send him on a mission to destroy or stop , "The Reapers" and the collectors.
In another thread that prompted this thread, a poster stated that TIM may have found a way to control the Reapers and Shep may be in his way of controlling them for his domination of the galaxy.
My personal take is that weather you keep or destroy the collector base , I believe TIM retrieves some type of secrets of the Reapers , as far as indoctrination, I think he has found a way to do his own indoctrination and bringing together a army of Cerberus troops which IMHO may be clones of Shep or have his DNA , made similar in the way Miranda was created.
WHATS YOUR THEORY, WE WANT TO KEEP THIS GOING UNTIL ME3 DROPS IN MARCH

Keep base, Harby says ello mate to TIM and they broker an arrangement or something.

I guess that TIM is playing all sides again with the goal of defeating the Reapers. So the best way to clear Shepard of the rumor he spread of Shepard working for Cerberus, he attacks Shepard, knowing that Shepard will win.
TIM is playing a super risky game, cuz you don't cross Shepard like that no matter the Paragon / Renegade-iness of Shepard!

It still makes no sense, if you do blow it up he waste all those resources just for revenge, while the reapers destroy the galaxy. . .

TIM is petty like that, also since he gets the tech anyway,he could still be contacted by the reapers, that and the whole ,already exposed to reaper tech, thing.jasonsantanna wrote...

TIM should not be known as the Illusive Man. He should be called Captain Risky.
And TIM should have been spending money on his own fleet with Thanix cannons, and the other two defenses, other than spending on an army!

I really don't like that theory but anything is better than DURRR INDOCTRINATION at this point. TIM is too good of a character to just become Harbinger's mouthpiece. I would love for him to remain morally grey until the very end.

TIM isn't "evil" he is cold, callous, ruthless, and a smelly douchebag.
But he means well for humanity, even though at times ( messing with Jacks head...bastard.) it doesn't really seem like it he does what he does for humanity.
Also just so you know, I will let Jack fillet him alive if the opportunity presents itself, I'm not defending TIM, but you can't go around throwing words like "evil" all willy nilly.

It's possible that TIM thinks that letting humanity become reaperized is the ultimate way to advance the species and goes along for his goals of human dominance.

I also thought his other motive behind studing Reaper tech was to help himself break free of the whole indoctrination process.
Correct me if I'm wrong but on Virmire wasn't that the same thing Saren was doing , trying to see if indoctrination could be reversed.

Yeah, you're right. He's not evil. In fact, I hope he gets a just villain treatment. His character is moved by something more than himself. I truly believe he's trying to save humanity, but what worries me are his methods.

TIM was exposed to a Reaper artifact -- 30 years before ME2. That's the reason for the funky eyes. However, we learn from the book, "Mass Effect:Retribution" and from the comic that shows TIM getting "struck" by the artifact along with other victims that this type of indoctrination takes over the body and replaces much of it with machine, ala Saren.
If TIM were indoctrinated, he have tubes and lights in his body, not just funky eyes.
I think it's good whiskey, fine tobacco and frequent contact with attractive women that stave off his Reaper indoctrination, but I digress.

TIM could pull a Saphra and thinks this is a good deal and thus tries to stop Shepard.

I agree , I don't really beleive he is but his troops are , but why on earth chase around trying to kill Shep, he must have higher motives . . .Thompson family wrote...
First off, I don't buy the "TIM's Indoctrinated" theory at all. The Cerberus troops are indoctrinated -- we heard Shep say so in the videos -- but indoctrinated by whom? TIM, IMO.

The key question to keep asking is: What is TIM planning that not even the most hard-boiled Renegade AND pro-Cerberus Shep could possibly agree with it. Probably something the requires Shep to be indoctrinated too, or killed.
It's important to remember that not all Renegade players trust TIM, either.
===============
Remember in the closing scenes, when Joker hands Shep Reaper specs and drawings? EDI mined those from the base. But does TIM have info Shep doesn't have from somewhere else. He's figured out a way to thwart the Reapers but isn't ready to strike yet.
One reason he's not ready yet could be that Earth and humanity were hit first (not couniting the Batarians) and hit hard. He doesn't want the tide to turn until and unless the other major civilizations are at least as cut down to size as humanity.
It's also perfectly possible he wants to make human Reapers, but I don't see him wanting to become one species among thousands in the Reaper armada. I think he's going for the whole shebang.

only thing i can think of that he been INDOCTRINATED and thats why he attacking shepard, because i have both endings of being a paragon and rengade saved with perfect ending, if he is trying to kill him due that or maybe he made madea deal with the reapers to preserve some humans{remember not all the promotheans died} for when they leave like then done before so they can keep humanity the way it is and just have cerbus come out say we're still here come work for us and dominate the world and purge the rest of the races!!
