I'm at my first try at warrior and nightmare (I used to be at hard)...
and for now there are a few things that kind of ****** me off.
First,
whoever I seem to pick with my 2 handed warrior gets thorn apart by
Hawke's attack. And whenever I chose to control my allies I might end up
having Hawke killing one of them... so most of the time I end up super
micro-managing.
On the other hand I really don't mind the endless
mobs appearing from nowhere if I could not get my team killed by my own
mates... I don't mind elemental immunities either, if only I could get
rid of that major FF...
So for what it is now, my 2 handed
warrior and my mage are the most dangerous thing on the battlefield. My
mage (elemental) can't cast a spell without hurting someone (damn, even
Winter's Grasp kick's my tank's a**). The battles are a piece of cake
most of the time, but if I don't micro manage everyone, my teammates
kills themselves.
After all that I have ended up almost giving up
my 2 handed and to move to SnS to tank and/or have 3 ranged party
members (Anders, Varric and Merrill), so I'm pretty upset because I
can't have Isabela/Fenris/Aveline in my team.
I'm very upset with
the difficulty, as I am someone always trying to make everygame's
hardest difficulty. Most of my skills are more dangerous to me than
every enemy. When I'm down to one enemy I can't even smack him with my 2 hander's ability at risk of killing my other melee (or I have to move my other melee away...which makes no sens)
It's not fun, it's frustrating because the game makes your allies your worst ennemies...
Nightmare, FF and melee... mission impossible ?

did you update your game to 1.02/1.03? this makes warrior's basic attacks not deal ff damage, and companions cannot take more than 75% damage from a single friendly-fire hit.
you need to respec your chars and give consideration to friendly fire when choosing their abilities. the primal tree is great because it doesn't have friendly fire, if that's a big problem. alternatively, put resist runes in your armor for the problem elements.
check my signature for 2h/sns warrior builds and companions builds. that should give you some ideas.

I have 1.02 for my PS3.
The problem is I can't use Mighty Blow, Whirlwind or Scythe without hitting a teammate which does considerable damage... if's it's anyone but Aveline or Fenris well it's gg he/she is down.
So let me get this straight... I can't use 2 melee because I'm at high risk of killing my other teammate or serisouly damaging my team, I can't have Bethany use the elemental tree (I wanted her for Gravitic Ring and Elemental in Act 3), I can't viably use Varric's Archer tree skill because not a single skill targets a single enemy but Pin Down (so I'd end up using a single melee one way or the other)...
No to mention the stupid AI casting spells/using skills that FF in THEIR area of effect killing themselve... (i.e. Varric Using Bursting Arrow 1 foot in front of him)
I lol at 75% from a single hit... I can't take 75% of an enemy's hp (except critters) but I can on my mates... come on wth

you need to have good control of your rudder to play warrior. it can be done, i have done it myself, and so have many others, you just have to be careful.
check my warrior guide out.

Can be done Merciless. I roll with 2hdr+ Isabela and whatever ranged I feel like running. Do check out AreleX's guide in his sig.
Playing 2hdr with melee requires a fair amount of situational awareness. You have to have a keen notion of your warrior's swing arc and not be too hairtrigger about popping actives around your teammates. I've obliterated my team a few times until I got a handle on my warrior's range and got better at repositioning the mobs as I grabbed aggro during the waves.

When I tried Nightmare, I thought two melee were a pain. I don't remember why exactly but that's what I remember. I just assumed you'd have three ranged and a warrior.

Great guides, I didn't know about the Sunder bug (sigh... whenever Bioware fixes something they destroy something else, they must have monkeys working for them)

Or Koalas. XD Anyways, yes it's best to have 1 melee, 3 ranged or all-ranged parties on nightmare. If you want 2 melee, make sure you don't use your activated abilities when the other melee is around or focus on auto-attacks (be a berserker, best warrior spec now IMO anyways) since auto-attacks from warriors don't hurt their allies. For your archers just focus on auto-attacking, de-buffing and threat management. Only pinning shot and those in their special trees are FF-safe. For your mages, stay away from the elemental tree. AOE abilities in primal and creation are FF-safe. Focus on single target spells like horror, spirit bolt, crushing prison, etc.

FF is probably the single biggest reason nightmare is the hardest difficulty. Thats where having sound tactics and planning come into play.
Keep in mind that by far the most common setups for nightmare are 1 melee and 3 ranged or 4 ranged.

yeah i agree
The enemy always shows up out of nowhere and it is another problem in NM level. For example, seeing them jump off from sky (from the building i mean). The location they spawn just ruin my strategy. It is almost like the enemy is hoping you use aoe skills or spells to kill your own team. So i end up using archer plus two other range attack with just only one tank. Then i can't choose the team member i wish to have because i have to take these combat situations into my calculation.
Anyway, i think Bioware really need to spend more time on enemy encounter. Hope they improve it in DA3 or whatever...
