Since I have to pick only one area I'll have to say something a bit vague to fit the most bang for my buck into my criticism. I choose "Streamlining."

I'll change my answer to this.

The way the DA franchise was completely changed.

Same for me too. Would be hard to decide on which aspect since I dislike most of it.

And Emile de Launcet. And Evelina (sadly she became an abomination). And the various mages in the RoA cinematic. And the mages who fight alongside a pro-mage Hawke.

The biggest "pet peeve" for me was the re-used dungeons. I accepted everything else. And by "accepted" I mean "didn't hate as much as repeated dungeons" (which weren't that good to begin with).

The art style. No....I rather say reused, bleak areas. No...eer...the always repeating, incessant fighting with ninja waves from the sky, perhaps?

CAN'T DECIDE! Aaaah!

*runs away*

Agreed

The codex keeps hinting that there's an explanation for that, and I hope that one of the DLCs or expansion actually does address that rather than leaving more scrolls lying around saying there's something weird about Kirkwall.

I wish Meredith would've been introduced much ealier in the game and given a decent build up rather than pull out the evil sword at the end. I hated that almost as much as I hated Orsino suddenly putting on the blood mage ass hat.

The weapons are too damn long in the running animations. My staff looked ridiculous when I was running because it was taller than I was.

The fact that practically everyone in Kirkwall, including Hawke is either a lunatic or an idiot.

lack of armor customization, only one choice matters in the long run sort of, ANDERS, and no item decriptions save for the codex

Everything that fell short resulting from a short dev cycle (there's a lot of things in that category).

Re-Used maps,No companion armor customization (Could have just made it so they resort to their normal clothes when nothing is equipped.), and Sarcastic,Charming, and Funny Hawke not being able to threaten someone with the murder knife saying, "You like the shiny?" Or when buffing say "Enchantment!", and because I'm a Hoarder with OCD, ALOT of house additions and improvements, not just my LI and a Elf girl that you pay and DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Merril could have moved her mirror there, and the Halla statue I gave her.
Isabella could have put the ship in a bottle somewhere.
Fenris couldn't and still can't read that freaking book about an elf slave.
Anders can finally put his freaking manifesto where it freaking belongs.

and the gifts don't mean *Synonym for manure* because your teammates just put it in junk and destroy it.Bring back the butterfly sword, grey warden puppet, and Ser Pounce-A-Lot.

Also, the Templar symbol in the pause screen is practically subliminal messaging, and obviously ring, belt, amulet, necklace, and etc. I mean seriously..

Ohhh and the Romance scenes are implying something, like Mass Effect 2 where Miranda and Jacob take off clothing and the others just do something emotional or boring. Why is it that Anders and Merril share the same romance cutscene and Isabela and Fenris have unique ones, better or worse. (I mean just kissing for poor ol Fenris, then waking up to him still fully clothed.)
Are they better than Merril or Anders, not in my opinion, but yet Isabela and Fenris have a different ones. It's like making a cutscene for Morrigan and only show kissing for Zervan,Leliana, and Alistair.
O and not enough Elvis or Sinatra.

Agreed, like in ME3 I want a Warhawk.
Can't be a RPG where I'm the main character if my hair options are bald or haircuts that I've never had in my whole life.

The lack of editing the minimaps to show that you've blocked off passageways in the recycled areas. Seriously, if you're going to place a huge ass concrete wall as a lazy way to block off a passage, you could atleast cover that bit up in the minimap, too.

Overused maps. Lack of item descriptions. Being unable to change companion armour.

It's poorly-written ( lore incosistencies, retcons ) and offers little in the way of player agency/feedback, so much that the linear narrative harms the player's suspension of disbelief, at times.

The ****ty combat. Don't get me wrong, a lot of stuff really irritated me in this game, but none of it was as omnipresent as the god awful combat. Setting aside the only strategy was basically "wait for AOE spell to replenish" the animations were absolutely terribad. I hated how my party fought like they were choreographed by Super Saiyans. I hated how someone would explode into giblets after being shot with an arrow. I hated how dogs and spiders and thugs would just fall from the ceiling (that is only a few feet above my head).  I hated how combat, the meat of this game, became a chore.

In fact I think it's safe to say if the combat had been better I would probably have a much, much more positive outlook on this game.
