I also hated "All That Remains". Bioware felt the need to kill off mom...by having a serial killer turn her into Frankenstein?

I suppose having Leandra run off with some rich noble would have been too much to ask. Happy endings=bad, everyone dies=good.

I remember when Bethany was first announced, and many thought it was obvious that she was destined to die at some point in the game. While you can keep her alive, it will come at the expense of Carver, and there's nothing you can do to save Leandra. I'm sure with more development time, Bioware would have killed off Gamlen+Charade too.

And the "Darkspawn Chronicles" showed us how that ends, yes?

That he accomplishes everything that the warden does until the PC, as a suped up darkspawn, takes him out? Yeah. PC will beat NPC. That's life.

You can't look at a story that way(Well you could, but that would be stupid)

Let me see if I have this right..Half of you that posted about what you would like to see different in Dragon Age 2 posted that you would like to see less whining? There wasn't that much in the game so your off topic or off thread but the best part...your actually whining about constructive criticism that you term whining. Kids these days..Lol.

^^^^ I agree the origins companions were so much better is nothing but people's opinion's they whined just as much as the ones in DA2...
Alistair whined just as much if not more then any of the ones in DA2 including Anders. I just got done playing recently with Origins and that's all he did. IMO
Out of all the things people didn't like about the game they pick whining as there biggest pet peeve... /sigh

My biggest pet peeve was the story and storytelling of course. I knew that if they did a mage vs. templar story it would it very badly from watching any of those debates when Gaider jumped. Playing devil's advocate is great. I do it all the time. Consistently ignoring rebuttals and counterpoints while trying to hammer your point down people's throats on the other hand is not great.

Case in point, it seems as if the majority of the people were pro mage/mage freedom people so it was like DA2 was a giant middle finger to the fanbase. Almost every single mage in the game is either evil or clearly a danger to themselves and others (the only ones that were not were Bethany and Emile De Launcet). The only evil templar in the game was Ser Alrik as the others were shades of grey at the worse possible interpretation but for the most part just fell under the good is not nice trope until Meredith breakdown at the end. The game set up a clear good and bad side and is pretty much like "Hey, you still want to defend those mages?" Extra dickery was added if you side with the mages despite all of the warnings against it, Orsino basically telling you he let your mom get killed because the allure of magic was too strong to resist.

How about our friendly little Merrill? She was proof that you could be a blood mage and not be evil or join omnicidal rebellions. She was responisible with her interactions with demons and everything. How does her story line end? Her mentor getting killed and the game placing all the blame on her and having to kill her entire clan or getting exiled. It is more anvilious blood magic leads to ruin as she loses everything she held dear for something that wasn't even her fault. More hammering it into you that magic messes up everything. You don't even have an option to earn Merrill a happy ending. It can only end badly.

If they really wanted to make a game with the mages vs. templar debate, it should have been a real grey and gray morality. The mages shouldn't all have been psychotic abominations (Anders) or resorting to blood magic for absolutely no reason at all (pretty much everyone else but mostly Orsino for this). This poorly executed slap to the face should have never been done.

If I could pick one, one single pet peeve, it would be the way that pause and play, overhead view, micromanaged, use your rogues and spells carefully, tactical combat has been completely disregarded in this game.

Kind of a like a surgical strike against the people who bought the game because they liked DA:O, and those who bought into the franchise in the first place as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate. Yeah, I know, yawn, we've all heard that before.

"I am truly saddened that you wish Minsc and Boo fantasy RPG fans to leave." :(

I just played to end game on a mage and far and away my biggest pet peeve is that you cannot in any way shape or form refuse to help a templar(Meredith) hunt mages. It is absurd that she can play the word game for 30 seconds and suddenly I(an apostate) am ok with hunting apostates. The dialog in this game is seriously suspect in several part. Sorry Anders I'm not gay for instance seems a bit more kind and so less likely to produce neg than say take a flying leap Anders. This is of course not an exact quote but the spirit of their paraphrasing is very much in this vein. Poorly done and misleading. Probably well intentioned but it needs serious work to compete with dialog that is "as is".

I'm going to assume that by Pet Peeve you mean something that's completely inconsequential yet infuriates me to no end. You can't sit in the chairs. I have no idea why it bothers me so much but it does. I never do it when I can but when I can't it annoys me. It makes no sense but I can't help it.

The reused levels. It's insulting.

Sure I can nitpick the story or some gameplay elements, but the reused levels is just flat out insulting. Especially when they start selling DLC.

The more I tinker with this games options the more clear it becomes that there aren't any. There is no greater pet peeve to be found than an absence of choice in an RPG. Try refusing a few mage line quests if you want to see what I mean. Most recently I attempted to refuse to do the one where you escort the Qunari mage. Apparently blood magic is far more prevalent in the Chantry than one might expect since these are typically the quests you might most wish to decline and find yourself utterly without choice with little to no justification. You simply must or the story does not progress. It really is quite bad. Luckily I played the first playthrough in a generally acceptable way or this would have been a SERIOUS disappointment which is to say I might have not finished the game and used the disc for some cd baseball.

Companion interaction, companion interaction, companion interaction.

Oh and scenic NPCs who don't react when you rain flames down upon them. Its like walking around a dead city.

The reused scenery and the fact that the mage story MAKES NO SENSE, which is sad since playing as a mage is pretty fun in this game.

Over the top, 'breaking the sound barrier' type of combat animations and effects. Heck even mages were swinging about their staffs vigorously like tireless robotic machines endlessly.

I agree that the 'shuffle' and slow pace of combat in DAO should be done away with. And that the faster paced combat in DA2 is an improvement. But the accompanying jarringly quick animations and effects are way overboard - breaking the sense of immersion completely. Not every game need to follow the Ryu Hayabusa kind of moves from the Ninja Gaiden series - and this is an extremely poor imitation. Ironically, to me, the DA2 Destiny trailer sets the standard of what I think Bioware should aim for. The moves were stylish, heroic, still within the bounds of reality, varied and had the realistic 'oommph' to it.

I liked DA 2 and enjoy playing it but they changed it way too much from DAO. It did not need all the changes it had to art direction or combat animations. Playing as a 2H warrior just feels cartoony now. Elves, dwarves, and especialy darkspawn did not need the change in look. Darkspawn in DAO looked evil and intimidating in DA 2 they look like saturday morning cartoon characters. Though I will note I did like the changes they made to the Qunari. Another change I did not like was the change in armor look. I know people felt that some of the armor in DAO kind of looked the same but with different skins but I liked how it looked in DAO it had that classical medieval look. In DA2 some of the unique armors look just too weird and there really aren't any sets that I feel I must get my hands on. In DAO I had several sets that I looked forward to obtaining whether it be legion of the dead, cailan's armor, warden commander, wade's superior dragonbone plate, juggernaut, armor of diligence etc... and last but not least the reused maps. There is absolutely no reason for that. I can understand reused maps for sidequests but not for main quest areas (though the main quest was harder to define in DA 2)

In DA 3 though I don't expect them to bring back all of the old art style (as much as I want it I am a realist) I would like to see a more traditional look return in terms of armors and weapons etc... Also would like to see them make up their minds on the look of the darkspawn and stick with it. Also want combat that is both realistic and fast paced without being cartoonish. And last and not least I want exploration back.

Biggest Pet Peeve Regarding Dragon Age 2?

For starters the death of sibling, you can't save " you know who" at the end of act2, whole act3 and the killing of ( spoilers) at the end of the game.
If you side with one particular group you'll never get to power and the hole point of hawke been in Kirkwall was to... GET TO POWER. So I don't know about you but that bites!

Every single mage in kirkwall is NUTS, quote / Isabela: "Must be something in the water" and is true! because they are all crazy, even if you side with them.
I do like dragon age 2 but this are my biggest problem with the game, I can't believe a hero could fail in so many way! well, until now lol!
Still I do undestand why there is so many crazy mages in kirkwall but come on.. can any one of the mages beside Hawke have some brains for other than turning into a demon?

Anyway I do enjoy playing dragon age2 until I hit act3, then I delete the character and start again.. waiting for a dlc that is about "after Hawke and Li has left kirkwwall" and the new dlc that is about an elf from a serie? Not sure but sound interesting and totally waiting for it, the more info and lore about Thedas the better! Oh did mention am totally in love with Thedas and Alistair Ferelden's? :P

Another one I had just thought of was the inability to change the armor and look of companions. I am not a big fan of the "iconic look" thing. Sorry but I don't see anything iconic about carver running around in act 1 with peasent clothes and a big sword. sure it make sense storywise but surely there was some old merc armor he obtained during that year when he and hawke were working off their debts or he could have had an old set like hawke did at the beginning of the game that he obtained while serving in the king's army. That is just one example but we should have had the ability to customize our companion's look more.

Since everyone mentions gameplay stuff I would like to say Hawke. Hawke has nothing to do with the story. The game can easily go on with out Hawke being present. In Origins no the Warden is important to the story.

Not really. Alistair could have done everything that the PC accomplishes.

There is so much fail in this statement I don't know where to begin.

Technicaly they are right since Alistair is a Warden as well.  Though they wrote his character in a way that he would not have the leadership intagibles that the warden has (though you can develop his leadership intagibles through out the course of the game by hardening him)
