Indeed. He keeps coming back. Which means I keep going there... like a bug drawn to a bright light... LOL

I just went in and had to post about something he said. His comment that players tend to like only agreeable characters annoyed me. Sometimes I feel like the only one who plays the game as a set personality even if that means my PC is "colossal prig" to some of the NPCs. Trying to earn everyone's friendship seems unrealistic. Not liking a character for never shutting up isn't the same as liking only "those who supported the player unconditionally" as David put it.

I'm wondering if David's trolling us or trying to get a reaction for companion ideas. Either way I'm gonna keep posting Cullen related and romance related topics at him until he gets the idea and gives us Cullen LOL!

Go to Profile, Forum settings, and then just paste in the image you want, just like when you post, with the [img ] tags.

For the person you want to respond to, click "Quote" on the box containing their comment. It automatically includes the quote with so and so wrote... in it.

EDIT: incidentally, the format is just
[ quote ] words [ /quote ]
without the spaces (did that work?) and that makes the dotted box around "words" 

No laughing needed! It's hard to find good instructions for the forums.

Even if he isn't a LI, he'd be a great companion in DA3, especially considering he knew/met both the Warden and Champion.

OK, not sure what's not working, but here's a few more detailed instructions.

Left hand menu, under your profile pic, go to Profile -> Forum Settings.

You'll get a text box like this one. You can write text there and then save. That text should show up in your sig.
For an image  use [ img ] html address for image [ /img ]  but without the spaces around the square brackets.

To create a link, click on BBCode at the top, then write, without spaces :
[ url= link ] text you want [ /url ]

EDIT: D'oh - awesome! You got it working!

You're right, Cullen has met and been around both the Warden and Hawke closely, he'd be a perfect companion in DA3 because he's almost like the link joining all 3 of them together (especially if the new protagonist turns out to be an Amell as well.)

Hello, Commander Jessica.

I'm glad everyone told me about the companion/romance topic. It's really helping me gain some different perspectives on things in the game that I had never considered thinking about, or had not quite formed that big of an opinion on yet. I'm enjoying the points everyone is making. It has been very entertaining so far.

It's a nice little thread isn't it, I love that David Gaider and the Dev's comment in there a lot too. I wish they'd visit this thread but it would probably get over run with haters.

I like hearing other perspectives too, as long as people don't start bashing other's opinions.
I wouldn't mind hearing why people think Cullen as a companion is a bad idea (I personally see no reason not to have him) as long as it's not just "Urgh, he's so whiny!"

I'd love to hear what David Gaider or other writers think about fan reaction to Cullen and how they intended him to be received.

Apparently in DA:O they hadn't expected Cullen to be so popular, supposedly he has quite a soft spot for Cullen though.

As for people not wanting him as a companion/LI, a lot of them didn't like his treatment of Mages in the DA:O epilogues (even though they were retconned) and they also hated how he took Bethany away to the Gallows and didn't do anything to stick up for the Mages until after Meredith called upon the rite of annulment.

I agree. It would make sense to see him in the game--after all, who is going to replace Knight-Commander Meredith? Of course, then he'd probably have to be a npc for that role. I'm guessing, that maybe it's because of how committed he is to a cause--though to me, regardless if I believe in the cause or not, it is very admirable indeed, though I wish he'd leave some room for my Warden mage <.<. I originally didn't care much for the templars argument against mages, but now, partially because how much I love Cullen, I can understand both sides arguments equally. Let's pray to the Maker he does become our companion.

Edit: Lola: I admit, initially it made me sad and a bit disgusted with his view on mages, but the more I thought about it, the more I can sympathize and not blame him.  I thought his views seemed rather softened but not close to being his normal self, in DA 2.  He seemed less mentally instable though.   -squee- He's so hot!

I'm attempting again after erasing my pitiful attempt in my new story to write a sex scene for the chapter after the prologue.<.< ick.  as much as I love him and let my mind wander about That with Him, I -shivers-  still feel my cheeks getting red with embarrassment as I try to write it.  Crisium does a much better job,.

LOL Careful what you ask for... they stumble in from time to time. Like LolaLei said, it's mostly because they hate him for the hot button things he's done. I've also heard arguments like he's had his spotlight already in DA2, and they're over him. That's a head scratcher for me.

Unfortunately, my new idea for why he won't be a companion is that it wouldn't make sense to have both him and a Seeker... and there are some compelling reasons for that -- the tantatilizing DA3 companion armor pics, notwithstanding. But, who knows... maybe Cullen IS a Seeker now... bwaahaahaa.
