Y'know, I'm at the stage where I don't care if he's ugly or pretty, fat or thin, bald or hairy, has a stupid hair cut or his trademark curls, sporting a ridiculous large beard/side burns/mustache or his cute little goatee that we're all familiar with. I'm not even bothered if his outfit is covered head to toe in multi-coloured feathers and fur, or if he's covered in scars and burn marks. I just want him as a bloody companion/LI in DA3 dammit!

Aw man Lola, you're totally bumming me out! In all seriousness, I don't think our speculation over his characterization would ever sway the writers opinions on making him a full fledged companion. If anything, our enthusiam should serve as an added incentive that they can possibly still make us see him in a different light. Maybe I'm just being foolishly optimistic...but it can't hurt right?

I'd like to think so, I mean, writers love surprising people, don't they? If I was part of the writers pit I'd totally want to prove that the fans theories about Cullen were wrong lol. After all, he's their character, why wouldn't they want to claim him back and blow all our preconceived ideas out of the water! ... Right?

*Sigh* the sooner we're given the basic details of DA3's plot, the sooner we'll have at least a rough idea whether or not Cullen stands a higher chance of being a companion/LI.

If it's mostly about the mage/templar war then it would make sense that he would be. But if it's anything like the leak survey description, then I'd presume that our hopes will significantly decrease.

If we're thinking of the same leaked script (I think there's just the survey one, correct?) it was pretty vague about what the events would include, but I thought it did mention the mage/templar issue. Even if that's not the main focus, I don't see why that would decrease the chances of Cullen being included in our party. I mean, look at Sten in Origins. They barely mention the Qunari invasions or their constant fighting with Tevinter in anything but passing conversations, yet he's one of the first few companions you gain. Cullen might not be a main storyline focused companion, but that's never caused the devs to make that character any less evolved or interesting than one who is (i.e Alistair, Morrigan, Anders, Isabela)

The Mage/Templar conflict is obviously going to be addressed, it would make no sense for it not to be. Cullen serves as a great connection to that conflict to both old players that can recognize him, and to new players who need an experienced NPC familiar to the subject.

I mean, even if the game is about the Mage/Templar war or that leaked survey's description, there's a chance that he might be needed for a "higher purpose" (like trying to reunite the Templars with the Chantry, or creating a compromise between the Mages and Templars), I'd be a bit gutted if we didn't even have the option to recruit him as a party member. Ideally, it would play out in a similar way to ME3, in which you could either recruit said companion into your party, or choose to make them an asset by making them work towards something else (for example, you could send Kaidan go and help Hackett 'n' co, instead of recruiting him.)

To be honest, I'd gladly forfeit assets and make the game harder for myself, if it meant I had the option to make Cullen a companion.

Agreed. I didn't even know you could do that with Kaidan, as I've only beaten that game with my Shepard who romanced him faithfully. Might try that with my Garrus romanced playthrough...but I doubt I'll actually be able to go through with it

If he isn't a companion, yea that would really suck, and I'd for sure be dissappointed, but as of now I'm just remaining hopeful about the whole deal. No point getting upset about it when we don't know for sure, and thinking that he will be makes me feel a helluva lot better than thinking he wont.

True. Ah I dunno, I guess I'm just in a pessimistic mood today lol. I think it's because now that Tonia's left BioWare, I'm wondering if maybe my theory that she was writing Cullen (as a companion/possible LI) was incorrect.

Hey guys! Well I successfully defended my dissertation today so I am officially a PhD 8D Just wanted to share with you guy :> Anyway now that I'm not so stressed, I can spend more time on the BSN and talk more Culleny goodness!!! :x

Tried leaving him on Virmire before...almost killed me. Couldn't even select Ashley's name over his on the dialogue tree

I've never saved Ashley, not even once! 

Jennifer Hepler and Sheryl Chee both wrote Cullen, II'm not sure who wrote him in which game though.

LOL! Man, I've made some real rotters in DA2. I find it easier to be a complete tosser if my Hawke looks absolutely ridiculous.
