Really? I hadn't heard about that. Can you remember where you heard about it? I'll do some investigating, I had a few friends who went to the MCM expo in London.

^^This! :D

I've just read all the replies to the questions I asked. Some very intriguing responses... :D My next question is...

If there was a difference between succeeding at your mission with flying colors - saving lives and minimal damage, etc - and succeeding barely by the skin of your teeth - lots of deaths, disgruntled allies, lost resources, people hardly think you're a hero, in fact you hardly won rather than bought some time - and you had to sacrifice Cullen to get the better ending; which would you choose?

Just going to poke in really quick to say that this question makes me feel almost like I'm making the DR or US choice at the end of DA:O again while romancing Alistair...

Anyway...

For me, it might depend on the context. If it's only ONE quest that I'd have to get the "barely succeeding" option with but I get to keep Cullen, then I might just do it...depending on what the quest is, of course. I'm not ENTIRELY selfish....(maybe sometimes )
Just thought I'd put my two cents in

Btw, congratulations motomotogirl, that's quite the achievement!!:wizard:

I'm being really dumb and not fully understanding your question. Are you saying that in order to pass with flying colours I'd have to kill/sacrifice Cullen? Or do you mean, if I ballsed the game up royally and only made it through by the seat of my pants, then the only way for me to get the good ending would be to take the option to kill/sacrifice Cullen?

I would just play the game twice and see both versions  Probably let him die wit a FemPC since I wanna romance him with a boy. Which reminds me, I hope there are some nice female LIs for my FemPC. I can't say I ever felt interested in romancing Morrigan or Leliana (Morrigan, maybe, a wee bit), and though I do love Isabela to pieeeeces, I never felt anything for Merrill either.

Ok, here's a question:

Hypothetically, let's pretend for a moment that Cullen is a companion/LI in DA3 and he's having a conversation with the protagonist about his time in Kirkwall. How do you think he would describe the 10 years he spent there and what do you think his thoughts would be about his experiences there? For example, do you feel that he hated every minute of it? Or do you think that he enjoyed the challenge. Alternatively, do you think that he felt like the Maker sent to that hell hole to repent for his "sins", or that he just let the hole thing wash over him and didn't really give two sh!ts about any of it because he was doing his job.

I remember taking about hoping that there would be a DA3 trailer at the VGA's in December, maybe that's what it was?

Ooh thats a hard one! I mean in Mass Effect 2 and 3 I couldn't have the almost perfect solutions. I could handle losing all of them, but not one or two. It also depends I guess if I have no choice. I hate losing my companions unless absolutely necessary and it's funny because if there were a dark side choice (which DA doesn't have) then I'd likely be more okay with letting a companion die for the story to reach it's optimum ending.

I tend to be a sad panda even if I never use the companion or don't particularly like him/her because sometimes they have something afterwards that make me say "Keeping you alive was worth it."

Found an interesting tweet from Mike Laidlaw that he made about a week ago:

"If nothing else, we want to make sure you are making an informed decision about DAIII before you buy it."

Do you suppose that means we will get a relatively detailed explanation about the new protagonist, how his/her background is going to work and a basic outline of DA3 main storyline?

I wasn't thinking as specifically as the player screwing up in some way. I was thinking about having a decision that could make it easier to take down the Big Bad if a certain individual does something or goes off to deal with another issue and it's a task only a Templar, for instance, could do; but they get caught and killed. They proceed in their goal but die doing it. Not sending that companion off could have repercussions that affect how difficult the battle is. Kind of like the difference between using the Litany of Adralla or not. I know you don't have to kill anyone to use it but if you don't, th battle is tougher. So I was thinking of that on a larger scale.

Maybe there's a sidekick for Big Bad who is going to activate some enchanted weapon and only someone with abilities like Smite could stop it. If you don't choose to do this, then the battle is complicated by the addition of the weapon. I dunno... I was just wondering if their was an instance in which one could bring themselves to sacrifice a friend. I guess it's a lot like the DR versus US thing but I was thinking about it earlier. ^_^

Edit: Yeah, Danny, killing off companions is hard. I could only manage murder-knifing Anders once, even though the character irritates me. And I only let Alistair make the US once too. It was worse when it was my warden so after that, I always went with the DR. lol!

Danny: I don't like killing off companions either. Even if there's one I'm not particularly keen on I feel like I owe it to them to keep them alive, since they followed you into hell and back, as you drag them along from dangerous quests/mission to another. Keeping them safe is the least I/my protagonist can do LOL.

Samara: Oh! Ok I get it now. I think if I knew it could/would definitely kill them then I wouldn't send them. Although, if I had no idea that it would/could kill them/him, then I'd probably send them off to do it, thinking they'd come back, discover that they'd died then reload the game and not send them lol. Unless of course I'm playing specifically to test out all different options and experiment, then I would lol.

I think it depends on the gaps. I mean we only saw him during troubled times but at the beggining he seemed kind of happy in his role. I think Cullen enjoys being a templar and feels fulfilled in that role, but ultimately may feel guilty that he turned against a fellow templar regardless of Meredith being corrupt. I mean it's like turning in your friend for doing drugs like meth. I mean it's for their own good, you care about them and want them to get better and not destroy their lives...looking at you Cullen. You'll still feel bad while they hate you regardless of if you did the right thing.

I think when he's talking about it he might remember certain events fondly, but when he's talking about Hawke it might be sort of a sore topic. Like, "I don't want to talk about it right now."

I think they just want to know what we're getting into. Give us an idea of the systems and the vaguest explanation of the story...Rise to Power.

I've been trying to say this to people who kill off their least favorite companions for years.
If you don't like them, ok..but do you really have to kill them? As you said, they follow you into hell and back and almost get them killed so many times....I think you can at least be a little merciful lol.
Oh well, I guess inside most gamers is a sadistic murderer who will kill you for 3 gold pieces.

I just want to say *looking at Samara's sig* that having the murder knife as a LI is kind of ... naughty. I mean, so long as you use the proper end...

I got no time for the jibba jabba at the moment but jumped in to say CONGRATS to Dr. Moto (time to change your name lol).

Also, thanks for pointing out Samara's murder knife banner - which I will be looting now. :)

Congratulations MMG!!  Proud of you

Were you perhaps thinking of the video that was supposedly recorded at the Edmonton Comic Expo? The one that it was said might be uploaded a week or so after the event?
