So someone in one of the DA3 threads said:
"Sounds to me like they just didn't want to leave any room for speculation on how short the development cycle will be. When was DAII released? Two years was way too short before and they're even using a whole new game engine this time. Allow me to formally predict disaster resulting from this release date."
What are you guys thought on that? Do you suppose that the game could end up feeling rushed since they are using a completely new engine that they've had to get to grips with all over again?
I wouldn't let the doomsayers make you worry tbh. They'll use any slight change or tweak in the system to "predict" that the game will be a total disaster. Their assumptions are based on nothing.
If starting from a new engine were to seriously cut into the games development, I doubt they would have made that decision. I wont pretend to be an expert on game engines, I've only slightly played around with the Unreal engine as of late and I can still do nothing but create a floor with some junk scattered around. I trust that the team of developers are smart enough to know how much time they need to complete a game that can more than match up to our expectations. That is, reasonable expectations. Not the demands of the entitled and ranting posters who do nothing but nit pick at every single thing the Bioware team does.
It seems for sure that they are really taking their time, and the suggestions of the players, to create a fantastic game. I wouldn't worry about the change in game engine of which they're building off of.
Edit: We haven't even recieved a solid release date yet, just a generalization that can easily be subject to change if the team deems it necessary. That sentence alone should disprove the validity of that poster's statement.
