I understand the whole 'having conversations in one place' thing. I mean if we are being realistic; in the middle of a battle you arent going to strike up a random deep conversation. But, while traveling some place for a quest or something, I imagine there would be long chats. Maybe after a period of traveling there can be a little rest (people wont walk across the world without some stops) where you can go to your companions, ask their opinion of the quest or something.
I just hope we travel again and have a camp, and maybe still have a home base somewhere when we aren't going around. In DA2 I got really bored staying in one place and occasionally going beyond Kirkwall, though not very far. Plus, camps give more of a cozy feeling to me.
Yeah, I completely agree. I mean, in the middle of a battle would just be annoying or a bit of a pain in the arse. But at the same time, I wouldn't want it to be as restricted as it felt in DA2.
I've got my fingers crossed that we'll have our main base of operation
(which is presumably that castle from the concept art), but we'd also have other places to stay when we're not in the main home hub area. For example, let's pretend that the castle is situated on the outskirts of Orlais. If we're in Orlais at the time, then it would make sense for us to return to our main hub to rest up, etc. However, if we're in Ferelden, then suddenly warping back to Orlais to regroup would seem really unbelievable/impossible, soooo instead we'd stay in a tavern, which would become our temporary home hub whilst in Ferelden. Then later, whilst we're exploring Elven ruins out in the middle of nowhere, we'd have no choice but to set up camp, which would also become our temporary hub whilst we're in that particular area. And so on. Thus, giving us a range of different versatile areas to sleep/regroup in.
Apparently each level is gonna be bigger than DA2
(presumably in size, so, maybe a forest would be bigger than Hightown, Lowtown and Darktown put together?),
if that's the case then the quests within each individual area/country/region we visit are going to be vast, so we're gonna need somewhere to stay between quests
(especially if we're given a day/night cycle that we control, as suggested during one of the Sprints). Based on that theory, I'd say it's likely that we'll be shacked up in a few different environments, but I could be wrong lol.
As for conversations during travel from country-to-country, I'm half expecting "travel scenes" in which we see, for example, a cutscene of the protagonist and companions travelling by horse across long distances in the pouring rain and snow as dramatic music plays and panoramic views of the area they're travelling to blazes across our screens in some flashy looking "travel montage" as the protagonist (or whoever) narrates over the top. However, it would be cool/funny to get some light hearted cutscene conversations for shorter distances, as they're all stuck sitting in the back of some potato wagon, on their way to who-knows-where.
