Someone asked what will happen to poor Cullen in DA3 and Gaider said:

"I'm sure that, if we did include him in DA3, no matter what direction we take him some people will declare him Ruined FOREVER. I mean, what if we contravened headcanon? Perish the thought. There's so much blank canvas which has been filled in by his fans, it's practically impossible we could do otherwise.

Ultimately, if we do include him, he won't be included for his fans exclusively-- despite the fact they're most likely the ones to claim that's why he'd be present. Those are, after all, the people most likely to be displeased. So any inclusion would be for nefarious purposes of our own. Or to make his fans cry bitter tears. Both are worthy goals, insofar as we're concerned.

That, of course, depends on us including him in any capacity."

It's just Gaider being his usual snarky self.  To be fair, he snarks at just about everyone; I'm starting to think it's a coping mechanism for dealing with the forums or something 

Maker bless the DA devs for putting up with BSN and still responding to forum threads.

I dunno if I would be THAT upset if they did something to him that was totally different than we thought, as long as he is there and his story is completed. Hmm.

I have a terrible feeling if Cullen is in DA3 he is definately going to die...

I don't mind if he dies and it's important/relevant to the plot, to which it adds an extra layer of bittersweet/sadness/whatever. But if it was just killing him off, for the sake of drama, then I'd be a bit annoyed lol.
... Would be one hell of a way to troll us fan girls though, wouldn't it! 

Ideally, we'd get the option to save him somehow (for all those that want to keep him alive).

Anyhoo... That pic is so cool... Still need to see bigger. I like the Argonath parallels. I always loved the statue of the Champion they put up in the Docks district ... Although of course it always looks like Aveline to me. LOL

Oh, don't get me wrong, I am totally cool with him dying with a good reason. Just not out of no where—POOF—and down he goes. Everyone abandon ship!

Has Mr. Gaider pretty much jumped into almost all these Cullen threads that have popped up?

And I always have to laugh at that stupid statue.  I played a FemHawke mage.  It's kind of like, "Uh, have these people even MET me?"

Yes, he has, actually.

If Cullen died, my reaction would depend on how he died. If it was like Anders, at the end of the game and as a direct result of choices the player made, I would have no reason to complain. As far as I'm concerned, nobody should be invulnerable to the murder knife. If it was two seconds into the game, say, if the Grand Cathedral blew up and the camera panned across the wreckage showing Cullen's lifeless corpse, I would be disappointed. I wouldn't rage, exactly, since there's always fanfic, but I would not be happy with such a trivial end to a character who had so much potential. There's a lot of ways to die between the two extremes.

Lola - yeah it took me forever before I realized the thing with the statue. I really like the conspiracy theory I heard that Aveline was actually the Champion...! LOL how funny would that be. Maybe Varric switched it to Hawke cuz she's a noble.

I could be wrong, but I think there's a plaque or something that identifies it as Hawke?  Or maybe the qunari head or something.

You know I keep trying not to carp on it... But out one side of DG's mouth he say the writers do what they want, independent of what fans want. Then out the other side, he says he would do something bad just to make the fans cry. 0_o Say what?

I'm kind of in the opposite camp, actually.  Not when it comes to liking Cullen's character or wanting to see him better developed, but I really did not like DA:O Cullen.  Weird dynamics of personal preference--he just really rubbed me the wrong way.  I grew to like him in DA2, actually.
