Lol, seems people have more Cullen on their minds than we do! Tsk tsk. They probably secretly love him.

I really need to read those when I get home. I'm reluctant to have FF.net show up on my browsing history at work.

In other news, why must people insist on making statements that begin with "Female gamers like..." You'd think we were some multi-limbed, transdimensional borg or something.

I hereby suggest that we begin referring to ourselves in the third person, and to begin every post with "WE ARE THE CULLEN FANS" and attempt to assimilate all the haters and trolls. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

(And thanks, Shades! ^///^)

The only thing I can think of is that they are feeding off of one another.

What makes a person start a "Why is Cullen so popular?" thread? Either they are secretly lurking this one or they are responding to the 925235 other "Why is Cullen so popular?" threads. Cause nobody talks about Cullen anywhere else. Like, anywhere. Except maybe BattleBloodMage in the M/M thread, but the trolls are also mostly homophobes so they don't dare step a toe in that thread.

Which is why it's quite possibly the only other pleasant thread in this entire forum other than this one....

I'm glad they closed it. There wasn't any point in having two threads saying the same bloody thing lol.

Particularly since the one they closed is again about the fans, instead of about Cullen. Boy that gets under my skin. Threads that encourage posts that start out "Female gamers are..." shouldn't be OK.

The other thread almost has the potential to be a Cullen discussion thread. Almost. I still hope it goes the way of the dodo, however.

It's just daft. If they didn't talk about it then it wouldn't be a problem. We stick to the DA2 forum, which is pretty much dead since the DA3 forum was published. The only time we even mention Cullen when visiting the DA3 threads is when it's a topic asking what characters/NPC's/companions we'd like to see in the new game and even then we don't go into great detail. Aside from that we answer the questions the haters ask when they post topics like: "What's the big deal about Cullen?", "Why do the fan girls love Cullen so much?", "Who is this Cullen guy and why is he so popular?", "OMGZ Cullen should die!!!" Etc.

If they don't want to hear about Cullen or his fan girls, then don't bloody summon us to answer questions about him that they have no intention of listening to or particularly want answering. It's not rocket science.

Y'know, if the haters really want to avoid Cullen being in the game, then they probably should've kept quiet about their dislike of him. The fact that they've kicked up a fuss is only serving as more reason for him to be used in DA3 in some capacity because he's a character that incites emotion (both positively and negatively) in a big way. It's as DG said, he'd be more inclined to use a character that provokes a reaction, than one people are indifferent to.

If it turns out that Cullen is a companion/LI, then you can bet your arse that the haters played some small part in it for making such a big deal out of a minor character who, until recently, went by relatively unnoticed.

Plus, everybody knows that if you tell someone not to do something, they'll go ahead and do it anyway simply because you made a big deal out of trying to stop them. I'd presume the same rule would apply to the writers pit, maybe more so since they like making us cry, including the demanding self righteous BSN'ers.

Aaaaaaaand que all the Cullen hate on the confessions Tumblr LOL.

Look at it this way: I'd rather use a character that was both hated and loved than one which nobody cared about either way. ;)

And things like this is why I think he would be good companion. Many Loved Alistair and many hated him. To stir up those kind of emotions with a pixeled character, shows that they are doing something right.

BTW holy crap Batman, this forum has jumped a few pages!

This will be the first and last time I ask this question without an ulterior motive, I legitimately want to know.  I'll save the trolling for launch:

Those of you who describe Cullen's flirtations with f!Amell in DA:O as "sweet" would you mind explaining how you reconcile this with:

  • His position of authority with regards to life and death over f!Amell.
  • His acknowledgement that had things gone differently, he would have executed f!Amell.
  • His categorization of his interest in f!Amell as a shameful, childish, infatuation upon her return to the Tower during Broken Circle.
Furthermore, to those of you whose interest increased based on his appearance in DA:2:

  • His assertion that mages - such as many present suppose to romance him with in DA:3 - "are not people."
Finally, if any or all of the above are acknowledged in your answer as problematic, is your interest in a Cullen/mage romance predicated on his recanting and/or converting to a different viewpoint?  What if he doesn't?

If you'd like to interpret this post as being a hint as to why there is backlash towards Cullen romance fans on here and Tumblr, that would be perfectly reasonable, because it is.

I have an answer. I consider this to be kind of wasteful. You are in a Cullen Fan thread, asking questions that get continually asked of us. Want an answer. This thread is about 1080 pages long. Read through it and you'll find very good descriptive answers to your questions.

Those of us here don't feel the need to constantly describe to those who don't understand. You don't see us going to you asking you why you don't like him and to justify why. We don't need to defend the reason why we like him. But if you really want a long answer. Go through all the pages. There's a reason why there are so many. I suggest starting at page 1

Next time he comes in here, we should get him to describe to us what character he likes and why. Then say great! Now how would you like me to tell you how much i don't care and why and then post it on tumblr....lame!
