Yay she coloured it in!

I wonder if we can reach 2000 by Spring? I think we'll be able to do it quite easily. let's aim to become the biggest thread within this part of the forum. Hopefully we'll end up passing both the Fenris and Anders threads.

So what IF, we get to hear some very sad story from Cullen about how the mage that flirted with him in DAO was made tranquil, and how it tore him up inside to see her so... etc. I would love to see him cry his eyes out === The thought of witnessing Cullen crying over the mage murders in Kirkwall is heart-rending indeed. GIVE ME A MAN WITH TEARS IN DRAGON AGE! CRY, CULLEN, CRY! Then our character gets to cheer him up, right? ;-)

Wouldn't the Mage that flirted with him in DA:O be our female Mage Warden? Man, I'd be gutted if my Warden had been made tranquil LOL!

yep, it would be great if you could do an import, and she ends up being a Tranquil in the Chantry in Orlais, as part of a cutscene, or something to that effect. Then Cullen spills his heart out!

My new DA3 protagonist would be hunting down Rhys like a shot to get him to reverse that one! Hopefully my Warden would be exempt from being made tranquil since she slayed the Archdemon. Plus my Amell didn't flirt with Cullen in DA:O, so he probably wouldn't cry too hard about it... I mean, it's been well over 10 years now lol.

I dunno, I don't see him crying that easily. Maybe he'd be close to tears if something awful happened like the DA3 protagonist being close to death (if you romance him), or his family getting killed etc. But aside from that I couldn't see him bawling his eyes out.

Y'know what annoys me? When people presume that we "love" Cullen because he had a crush on the Fem!mage Warden and then go on to say that it's because of the whole "forbidden love" thing. Maybe for some fans it is, but for me personally my Warden only had eyes for Alistair and never had any romantic feelings towards Cullen because she was pretty much oblivious to it since that was the first time he talked to her during the Circle of magi origin, right before getting sent off to become a Grey Warden.

It just bugs me that they use such a sweeping generalisation like that.

Yeah well it's really stupid when you consider someone like me...

1. Played DA2 before DA:O
2. Only played male Wardens

So yeah!

Yeah, if he can handle torture from a desire demon and not one but TWO Circle annulments like a boss, I think he's got a pretty stiff upper lip.

Off-topic, but if you upload a DA avatar, how long would it take for them to appear and where?

Thanks, I guess it may take a while until the image in Dragon Age Portraits to show up.

I played DA:O first and my mage knew who Cullen was, but she did not chase him away (she was not that kind of girl!).  It ended up that she could talk to him anytime and all I thought was "what a nice young man" and nothing more.

I don't think Cullen really made an impression until the Broken Circle quest and the torture of his unrequited love for her (she was already embarking on the Alistair romance by then - I mean who can resist him!).  I really felt like he had been through the mill.

Now I am playing DA2 (now on Act 3), I feel his character has really developed.  Which bearing in mind the theme given for DA:I I feel he could really fit in.  Just my opinion.

Re the Frostbite 2 engine, I am really excited for DA:I.  As to what the characters will look like, I am not sure.  The characters on the video for Battlefield 3 look very realistic, it almost looks like someone has taken a video camera out and filmed the sequences.  Exciting times!

It all depends on if you have gameplay feedback uploading. If you go in to My Games and look at each of your DA game profiles, you should see all your characters there and their achievements. Once a Character appears, its profile pic will show up for you like Cacey Lee said. And, takes forever, like up to 24 hrs sometimes, IIRC. Sometimes doing another deliberate save in your game will prompt it to upload, but apparently the speed depends on how often someone accesses your profile (which is not terribly helpful!).

Yeah, I know what you mean. Particularly since the forbidden love reason immediately turns into they 'they are stupid fangirls' reason. Of course, the next sentence then will be something clueless like, "And, I don't even remember him in DA2!"

I really wanted to upload my DA:O avatar, but for some reason none of my Origins data showed up in my profile.  I had linked my account to my XBox account and everything was set up, but nothing.  Even EA don't know why.  I had no problem with my DA2 data and have to admit it uploaded quite quickly.

Yeah, gotta agree here. I think the guy's kinda seen it all, so I imagine him being pretty stoic. But that being said, I could sort of imagine a scene where it ALL suddenly backs up on him, not just one person or one event, but the whole freakin' experience and he loses it. Like, he gets captured again and put in the same kind of cage... and he starts to have a flashback from the Tower. Then afterward, when you and he debrief, he has a cathartic cry because he's so distraught over it.  But I don't think he'd just cry over a girl like that.

Gah yeah, it irks me when people make generalisations exspecially when it comes to Dragon age.
I had never even played a mage until after playing DA2, seeing Cullen and me thinking I reconisged him from my brothers playthrough of DA:O so I went and played it to check. I was correct of course but that was not why I liked him in fact I prefer DA2 Cullen and wouldnt have taken an interest if it werent for him appearing in DA2 being the way he was.

"Forbidden love" indeed....  I played the mage origin only once - as a male - just for the achievement. I'm sure I'm not an anomaly. I wish those folks knew how those generalizations are so very off. Or maybe they do and it's more the point to "fangirl bash" since all the cool kids are doing it and it gets a rise out of us. Admittedly, it does bug me but trying to put an end to the nastiness is like trying to take pee out of a swimming pool. Posted Image

Yeah, it sounds like for a lot of us, the real appeal of Cullen showed up in DA2. Particularly those of us still around and posting. I'll wager there are a large number that first took a shine to him in DA:O, too, but I think that "reason" is more about shoehorning Cullen fans into a little "understandable" box.

But indeed, too much energy to reason with them. Just hoping those threads die off soon...
