Do you think Cullen and Dorian would be rivals? (Assuming Dorian is a companion) Dorian is a magister..

Possibly, although Dorian seemed very pro-Circle. I think if there was rivalry then it would be one sided with Dorian taking it in his stride, after all, he put up with Cassandra being a **** for the majority of DotS lol!

You're thinking of Galyan. Not that I object, naturally.

Dorian is the Tevinter from the leaked survey, the one who feels that the "system" is wrong.

I imagine he wouldn't like Cole, considering everything...

I imagine he'd have some serious problems with Cole. Does anyone think he knew about Anders situaion? I'm guessing not. Still, I think he'd have more problems with Cole. I don't get the impression they're going to include him though. I'd be surprised if he was a companion. I have yet to read Asunder. Can't find a copy at any of my local bookstores <_<

Wait do you guys mean Dorian, the magister from leaked survey, or Galyan from DotS?

I was just thinking that Bioware always has two companions who end up being rivals. Allistair vs. Morrigan, Aveline vs. Isabela, etc.

It would be great if it ended up being Cullen vs. Morrigan in DA3...

I hope Morrigan is a companion too.

I hope she isn't, just cos it would feel really weird having her around without the old party members and my Warden. Plus, who would look after the sprog?

I do like that Dragon Age introduces completely new stories in each game. That keeps it very different from the ME games. I'd be lying if I said I don't like seeing old companions return though. I feel it gives them better character development over time. Morrigan is one of my favorite characters in the franchise...<3

I just remember they said something about including a small thing of the God-baby if people had done Morrigan's ritual. But nothing big since not everyone did it.

I remember that, too, Shades, that if they did include the OGB storyline, it would be optional in order to respect player choice. Unfortunately, I'd be surprised if Morrigan was a companion, but I do expect her to show up for a sidequest: namely, my Come to Andraste talk about my husband's demon offspring. :)

I don't remember much about Dorian from the survey. Was he a pro-Tevinter, pro-magister Magister? I think a magister would be a really interesting addition to the game. I loved the brief appearance of the blondie magister lady in the comic, Mae? LOL In particular, if she were to show up, that would just be comedy gold to watch her interactions with Cullen. She was rather saucy and laissez faire about Tevintan (sp?) mage politics.

Here is the discription of him if anyone wants to look at it

Dorian: Dorian Pavus is a magister. The title conjures fear of arcane masters who once enslaved nations. Dorian may wield power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you’d expect of them. Brazen and clever, this outcast is on a crusade to rid his homeland of its corruption.

I never really did anything with Morrigan (she wasn't normally in my party since I was a mage) but I did like her witty replies to the companions.

See, I read this when it was first leaked and thought, "OMG DO WANT NOW!"  I like rebellious, clever, driven characters.  It's part of what drew me to Anders as a character.

He doesn't sound like the kind of person Cullen would like, though.  At least from what we've seen in-game, Cullen's pretty straight-laced, and he probably has no love of the Tevinters.  Imagine the snarking if they're rivals for the PC

I imagine Cullen would probably stereotype him and Dorian would reply with wit, maybe wouldn't show his annoyance. That WOULD be something to see!

How would Cullen react to Sera?
Here's her discription:

Sera: Sera is young, frenetic, and a brat through and through. She revels in the athleticism of being an elf, of being different. But her culture isn’t elven, or, for that matter, strictly human. It’s the underbelly of the city. In her network of rogues, what you do is more important than where you’re from, and friends open more doors than [titles?]. Robs from the rich, keeps it.

Have to say, I am not a fan of how it sounds like she would turn out...but this is all speculation and not set in stone.

What if he was baffled by the Iron Bull and stuff. Maybe he didn't hate him and they sort of got along..but then again, maybe he goes against Qunari because of the attack on Kirkwall..

Really? I think her attitude sounds hilarious! Probably since I make my City Elf behave in almost the same exact way (greedy, snarky, selfish) I mean yea, I'm sure she'd get on my nerves after awhile with that attitude, but that's what makes the Bioware companions great! I'm not going to love them all (not a huge fan of Leliana or Wynne, but dont hate them) and then there will be some that I'm obsessed with (do I need to say it? Posted Image)

One thing I find interesting in Dorian is that it says he's looking to rid his homeland of corruption. So ostensibly that sounds like someone who thinks the mages have too much power. So, not totally diametrically opposed to Cullen's POV on magic. That could be very interesting if they were to start out at odds and eventually come around to at least a grudging respect for each other.

Sera...? Dunno what to think of her. But given that she's rather unlawful, I can't see Cullen being too keen on that. Then, watch if he's a fugitive as well, so she gets to keep needling him that they're actually the same. Could be some good stuff, if any of this were even remotely close to what they're planning. LOL

found this vid and had to share. its a BW fans' thank you note to BW for the years of great men in their games. it's rough around the edges, no doubt. But its adorable.

At first I was like, hmm? Then I was grinning like an idiot. here's link if you wanna check it out:

www.youtube.com/watch

As far s Morrigan, I grew to adore her as a friend. Which was surprising cuz it started out like this:

Morrigan: "What? do you want me to leave?"
Me: "No. what I want is for you to stop acting like  b*tch!"
Morrigan: "Well we cant all get what we want."
Me: Oh! You! Woman!

Then after we'd been thru hell and back together:

Morrigan: "So..are we...friends?"
Me: "I would hope so by now."

I worry for OGB mainly cuz of DAA when Oghren was talking abt his dreams after the joining. Oghren said the darkspawn asked him to..teach them to read and write. Something abt. tea. And then one darkspawn asked him, "Where is the baby?"

*gasp* like ice in my veins. i didn't think abt it, but of course the darkspawn would hunt OGB. it's what they do. So, yes, I worry for me...and Alistair's..and Morrigan's OGB..(we're a new style Fam:wizard:)

Cullen and Morrigan..or really any powerful mage in party. Heck, it could be my PC. But I would expect distrust at first, but I would hope after going thru hell together that there would be some...softening of viewpoints? Nothing drastic, but I would like to see the companions and PC have at least a minimal affect on each others perspectives.

That's one thing I did not see in DA2. And this over a course of 7-10 years. The NPC viewpoints never shifted. Were never influenced. Even  lil bit. Not that I could tell at any rate.

I'd like to see that in DA3 amongst companions and even PC. A questioning. A consideration of the validity of different viewpoints now that they have been "exposed"--if you will--to each other. Maybe even becme friends with those they never expected to be friends with.

edit: cuz it's very easy to "hate" when you see others as nothing more than a caricature. It is much more difficult to hate when you know them as real beings.

I thought Iron Bull was Tal-Vashoth?  The name at least implies that.  Cullen's probably no fan of the qunari after what happened in Kirkwall, but I think he'd be able to distinguish one who was no longer of the Qun from one who was, horns or not.

She reminds me of Neeshka from NWN2.  Bratty and obnoxious, yes, but sweet and true as steel if you bother getting to know her.

Yeah, I would like the characters to be influenced by one another and perhaps open their eyes a bit more or see things differently.

Also, I want a companion or someone to be more interested in our PC's past, instead of us always asking them (kind of like how we want them to give us gifts more often than getting nothing like in DA2). I want to see their reactions to who we were, and/or what we've gone through. It was different with Hawke when people mentioned her/him running from Lothering, I mean, no one seemed truly interested in what her/his life was before everything. And...I dunno, they didn't seem very sympathetic, but then, all of them had gone through some sort of hell, so I suppose her/his problems probably didn't seem like much to them.

Sorry, I use Qunari too...loosely. I should probably stop that, lol, some people get so angry about it.
It seems Cullen wouldn't be too trustworthy of any of these characters at first, considering who they are (assuming they would all be in the game). Hm, he will be quite rigid I think, then after time he would open up a little bit more and relax.

No, no, it's fine.  I was just making sure we were thinking of the same leaked character.  And yeah, there was a whole big thread on the DA3 forums on Qunari vs. Tal-Vashoth vs. Kossith and which was the correct terminology.  Lore wh**es :D

Cullen doesn't really strike me as the trusting type, especially after everything he's seen in DA:O and DA2.  I can't blame him for being leery of a magister, a Tal-Vashoth, and a thief.   Or any other party members for that matter given the crazy that video game PCs tend to attract.

Lol, man, he will have a hell of a time for a while, won't he? I can see a moment where he is about to die [we see the scene and suck in a breath (here it comes, oh no!)] and someone comes to his rescue in battle then he begins to learn that he can actually trust these people.

..or he can never trust them and just trust my character, that works just fine too, lolPosted Image
