When Meredith turns to stone it seriously freaks me out...  it's kinda like the life was sucked out of her. I was half expecting Cullen to touch her shoulder and what was left of her husk to just disintegrate into dust.

I thought the same thing! I thought it'd get destroyed in some way, either shattering or disintergrating like you said. I wonder if they are going to address what they ended up doing with her/it after the battle. I can't imagine they'd let it just sit there to poison the minds of anyone else.

You know the opening credits in DA:O and DA2 where the weird art work tells you a little story about what's happened whilst someone narrates over the top? I reckon that's when they'll address the Meredith issue. For example, a little art montage that vaguely goes over the events of DA2, with Meredith turning into a statue and then just disintergrating away as the next clip appears on the screen.

... Man, I'm crap at describing things LOL.

No I understand what you're saying. Makes sense that they would address it that way, easy and effective as far as development goes. I wonder who would be narrating it though (Duncan for Origins, Varric for II) Cassandra would make sense I think, and the first female to take up that role in these games.

Oooo I hadn't even thought about who might narrate it. Maybe the protagonist him/herself? Or someone important to the game like a major npc? Maybe the Divine if it's heavily about the Mage/Templar war?

I like the idea of the PC narrating it. I know they mentioned that the events of the game wont be told via the "Princess Bride" effect again.

Yeah, so I guess a narration wouldn't work if done with the PC or companions since it would imply that they were re-telling the story. Soooo I can only presume that it would be an important npc (like the Divine) explaining a brief summary of what happened in DA2 and all the events up until the point where we take over as the protagonist.

You never know, if Cullen is just an npc then perhaps he'd be the one narrating it, since he was there for the events in DA2 and will obviously be in DA3 in some capacity... Actually, that could work even if he was a companion lol.

I actually only discovered this a few weeks back. It's so well done! Also, Fenris' music was probably the best score in the whole game. Very atmospheric.

*Edit* I'm thinking of the wrong tune. I like the one in the video, **** knows what one that is LOL!

Her "Daydream" one is very good too. The music is very unsettling and fitting for the theme of it.

I always try to make someone much prettier and cooler.

Impossible! As seen in littlenikki's decloaked banner, this thread has a high hotness quotient.

Changing the subject to return to Meredith's endgame transformation, has anyone noticed that Meredith's husk resembles the lyrium idol?

Got a lot of catching up to do. You guys have been busy!

Also, gorgeous arts!

Edit: BTW, the author of the Ser Gilmore mod is not a native speaker, so it's probable that she just doesn't hear the VO shortcomings you guys mention. As a longtime modder, she's very aware of how much voicing or the lack thereof sets mod content apart from original game content, but she was limited by the number of volunteers who were willing to work for free. On a technical level, she had to overcome tremendous obstacles just to get a character in the game at all. There are challenges about getting dialogues to fire in specific locations, so conversations had to be made a bit generic to accommodate the fact that there was no telling when they would fire. She's been a friend since our BG2 modding days, but I'm not asking for forbearance because of that. I am asking for it because she has created one of the most comprehensive companion mods for DA:O, despite the user-unfriendliness of the engine, the toolset, and the file structure system.

Ah, berelinde, you're sweet!

And... wow, what an interesting notion about Meredith! You know, I've never actually seen such a good up-close pic of the idol. It sure is freaky lookin. LOL The idol even has the spike on its head like Meredith's circlet. I wonder why the idol is two figures? Good catch!

The idol isn't two figures. It's a desiccated woman kneeling on the ground with some kind of circle behind her and lyrium "roots" coming up through broken ground. It's really hard to make out the details, though. We only see it for a few moments, and screen resolution makes it hard to get a good look.

Looking at your pic above, though, it's a woman but there seems to be another figure with its back to us, wrapping itself around her. You see the bones of the ribs in his back as he wraps his arms around her waist or something.

Maybe we can hit up one of the devs to get us a better pic or a concept art sketch? Sure would be nice to see in better detail. It totally does look like Meredith's end pose but I also see two figures. Like the 2nd figure is pulling the woman down.... just like a man. lol

Interesting meanie... Could he be pulling her down? I was thinking it was like he was embracing or celebrating her (felicitating her? Hee hee). All interesting interpretations. Also neither figure looks very dwarflike.

As someone who's tried at making even the most simplest of mods, the Ser Gilmore one always surprises and impresses me. It even spans into the DLCs! The VO isn't stellar, but as you said, getting someone to do it for free, your options are limited. I had no idea that she wasn't a native speaker, which yea just totally adds to the 'Wow" factor. I always end up installing it just for the massive detail that was put into the mod.

As for the idol, it looks like two people to me too. Never noticed the headband though, that's a bit creepy how it looks just like Merediths

So here's my new crazy@ss theory. The female figure has her arm around his head, and the lyrium "roots" are sort of wrapped around him. Could they be pulling him down? Could she be trying to pull him up, away from the lyrium? Saving him?

C.A. Theory 2: Could these figures be a race that predates the dwarves? Maybe the primeval thaig dwarves worshipped them? Could too much red lyrium exposure turn you into these beings somehow?

/end crazy

/Resume watching number one son swim class... :)

Very interesting about the idol. This is the first time I've really stopped to look at it closely. I think I would interpret that the kneeling figure is begging for help, or idolizing the crowned figure. The crowned figure is embracing rather than pushing away the other, so I think it wants to help, or just be revered ... Super creepy similarity to Meredith though.

I just woke up but what woke me was a dream. In it, Alistair was giving my Warden his rose and going on about how he didn't want to let something so beautiful be swallowed by the darkness and then, Leliana overhearing him and thinking it was sweet, came to look from a distance.

When she saw the flower she started wailing "How could you? That's my rose! The one in the Chantry garden!"

So she was all upset that Alistair killed it by plucking it and he's like "Strange, I don't see 'Leliana' on it anywhere..."

And Morrigan shakes her head and tells them they're squabbling like children. "It wouldn't have bloomed at all if I hadn't accidentally dropped a health vial on the bush. So in all actuality, it is mine."

Alistair tells her to prove it so she reaches for the rose in the Warden's hand and pulls it out. A thorn cuts her and Alistair sees the blood and because he's still so scared of Morrigan, he jumps back so suddenly, that he falls on his backside as he's screaming in a shrill tone "Dear Maker - BLOOD MAGIC!!!!"

That's when I woke up... O_O

So... good morning everyone... Think I'm going to go make some coffee.

Wow, now that you've posted the blown-up image, I do see the second figure. I thought it was her thigh and calf!

I'm not going to speculate about whether it's an embrace, pulling up, or dragging down. I will observe that the naked, bony-backed bald slave is a Kirkwall thing, but after that, I've got nothing.

Could be a weird depiction of some creepy looking Elven god "suffering for her children". It does really look like Meredith, probably another foreshadowing. Like, she was power hungry (thus the poor guy in the headlock) and then she turned into a creepy looking statue because ultimate power drove her mad.
