You'd show them your... pecks. Like a chicken? Dude, I'm dyslexic. I read with great difficulty and a lot of repetition, and the one thing I can tell you is that when you're dyslexic, every letter counts because you're going to read it at least 5 times before you can make sense of it. If you mean that you will display a set of well-developed pectoral muscles, commonly referred to as "pecs," they may be impressed, but if you provide a masculine display as if you were a domesticated fowl, we're hosed.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

I was recently looking for news on Until We Sleep (the third comic for those who don't know) and against my better judgement went into the DAwiki. Lo and behold I find an article that interests me. "Female character also in marketing campaign for DAIII". Exciting news to say the least that Mark Darrah confirmed that. I think it's great because seeing FemShep was awesome, so seeing a male and female Inquisitor or whatever we are made me happy.
Know what the first comment is I see?
"This is starting to remind me of the ME3 fiasco, trivial things are becoming more frequently discussed rather than important matters such as engaging narrative, meaningful choice and consequences and a compelling, believable, and highly interactive world not if there will be a male or female on the game cover."
F@ck!!! What do they want? Now don't get me wrong in a round about way this is an issue and one that a lot people are worried about, maybe not me so much, but I'm not going to poo poo this guys opinion. He's worried about something important, but where....WHERE does this take away any of that? The marketing team handles this...the devs likely have one or two meetings regarding this in the long run and besides it WASN'T a damned interview question, it was something he likely said in a BSN post or on twitter off hand.
Finally although compared to story, design choices and the engine this is something relatively small it pisses me off that he has the gall to call it trivial. Again yes it's not major features for the game but you know what, it's a nice addition that if men were in the boat of most lady gamers we wouldn't have take it quite as well as you ladies do.
Geez is it so wrong to mention little nice things? As long as its not the focus of their campaign over mechanics and such and it's not something that interviewers focus on when trying to pry stuff from devs then it's fine.
So I wonder if anyone feels the same about this as I do or am I in need for a smack so that I return to earth?

... and lol, wow, greater visibility to women/female characters in gaming is "trivial" says the random comment dude who never has to worry about his own visibility.

Oh dear, what kind of rapture struck the Cullen thread last night... and where was I?? LOL Outstanding. Now note, that's rapture with a small "r", as in the ecstasy of St Theresa, not capital "R," as in the end is nigh. Although who knows! Is Cullen another sign of the apocalypse?? Or just Cullen in crocs?
Here for Bernini:wub:

Comment sections are the worst. There is always something infuriating there. I force myself not to look at them at all.

It infuriates me when people complain about the inclusion of something, like SGR/female visibility. You don't have to worry because you're already set. You are represented and were the situation swapped you'd **** moan and complain until gets in.
I usually try to stay away from comment sections but sometimes it's just to hard because I want to say the article itself interested me or the author wrote it well and entertained me or that I'm just excited about the subject matter.
On a happier note I'm glad that it's included and although I expected it, it's nice to hear that it's there. I really can't wait for the VGA's though idk if we'll get anything this year, I'm hopeful though.

Ah, Danny, I just want to say kudos to you my dear. While I work to keep my own blood pressure down over these sorts of things, it is honestly a balm to the sensibilities that folks like you care about these issues, too. The only way gaming will ever be inclusive is once everyone cares... and then once that happens, no one will need to care about it any more and we can keep moving forward. I warms my heart that this annoyed you so much... although I'm also sorry for you that it did. Comments are indeed insidious on topics like this when anonymity helps foster majority priviledge.Danny Boy 7 wrote...
You know I literally am starting to hate every article that brings up Dragon Age as well as has a comments section. It seems like no matter what the news someone feels the need to ****e on whatever it is with stuff that has absolutely no bearing on that specific conversation. FOR EXAMPLE.

On a more positive note, female representation in marketing campaign!!! Wooo hooooo! I hadn't heard that yet. Outstanding! <3<3

LOL Nah, at least I dont think so. Husband agrees, too. Like that bit of marketing is suddenly going to drain resources from the rest of the game and ruin it? :eyeroll: Women are part of the market now, too. I think DG said 48% for DA? Sheesh. Plus more players of DA3 means more DA in future. Seems all good in my book. Or hopefully anyone's book.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

Seriously, I'm no femi-****, but in a world that makes sense, we'd admit that we all want to see a hot lady in the advertising. Women like to be represented, gay men have long been some our most passionate allies, and the *straight male gamer* obviously gets to enjoy the eye-candy. Who loses, except the misogynists? :/
Anyway, thank you for sticking up for us, Danny. One genuinely lady-respecting man can do a lot more than you probably realize toward healing those wounds.
*also, it blocked out the word n@zi, really? I come from a family of holocaust refugees. Surely I should be allowed to use that word!! <_<

So keep fighting the good fight!!!

Np. Anyway. So another thing I've been thinking about is that I'd love to have another enemy like the Ariskok and Loghain. More so Loghain however. I want someone who challenges our hero personally. My Warden was a Cousland and when he was across from Loghain they looked like two side of the same coin. Whereas with Hawke when he stood across from the Arishok in that trailer it made me think of a battle between the two races.
I loved the idea of Shepard vs. Kai Leng but they HAD to use squads<_<
I guess it's because I was raised with all of those versus shows.

I think I half laughed because it reminded me of an actual game like that came out called Ovary Overload and then I rolled my eyes, face palmed and almost made my nose bleed. So basically...

I hear ya with the enemy. Actually, I sort of want one super nemesis that you've been chasing for most of the game to finally catch at the end. Someone you've got a personal beef with, like Loghain, would be fun - as you said. I'm sure they've got something spectacular planned that none of us are even considering at the moment. lol

Agreed.
In fact, reading the books (especially The Stolen Throne) made Ostagar that much more of a betrayal, and therefore going after Loghain that much more satisfying.
