It would be easy for the torn veil to be overlooked what with all the fighting going on until it's too late and the demons pour out, so maybe at first it would seem like solving the Mage/Templar conflict is the main plot until all hell breaks loose from the fade and the real story kicks in.

I pretty much love this idea. Posted Image

Sorry guys, I lurk on this thread - I'll freely admit it.

Lurking is fun. I frequently lurk as well when I don't have time for pithy comments.

Lola, I agree this is a nice idea.

On an unrelated topic - well sort of, kinda not really - have any of you heard of 2Cellos? I was listening to their cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" when I was thinking this up. :D Oh! And their cover of U2's "With Or Without You" was partly to blame too.

OMG... you have introduced me to something new. Thank you! Thier "Smooth Criminal" just made my day! LOLPosted Image

You're welcome! :D "Smooth Criminal" is amazing! And it's what started the current craze over them. I particularly love "Smells Like Teen Spirit"! So much energy and the shaggier haired cellist, Stjepan is such a showman! And Luka, the one that looks like Jensen Ackles (or Dean Winchester more like) is really passionate. He gets into it so much, he almost seems ethereal at times. Between them and Poets I have half a soundtrack already for the new idea in my head! And I haven't written a thing! But I'm glad to turn new fans toward 2Cellos. They have a facebook page too.

I'm playing DA2 as we speak and I've turned off the background noise and sound effects so I can hear all the battle cries and the tone on which people say things clearly, I intend to listen to Cullen's battle cries and here what Meredith says as she impaled him on her sword, which happens a few times.

Something I've noticed about removing the music and sound effects from the game is how serious Cullen's tone is now, even compared to his mad moment in the cage... Makes me wonder what kind of personality he'd be given as a companion/LI, I hope they don't make him too serious or dull.

LOL I turned off the music and such, too, just to hear the battle cries. I still haven't played it on nightmare yet, so haven't seen the Cullen impaling first hand. I am still playing DA:O, though, with Cullen as companion, and when I hear his battle cries and such (sadly the only parts that are voiced, outside the main Broken Circle plot) ironically I've been thinking that he sounds... too young. LOL So, I guess I like DA2's takin' care of business, serious Cullen.

Like, I know I'll be struck dead by lightning for it, but I sorta enjoyed the scene when Cullen takes Beth to the Circle. The moment where he almost throws down with my Hawke was just... well, honestly, awesome.

What do his DA:O battle cries sound like? What does he say? I know you have to fight him if you play Darkspawn Chronicles but I don't recall ever hearing him say anything.

LOL I haven't been clever enough to turn down the music and such yet on that one, so I can't make it out! The clearest is when I'm choosing/unchoosing him in the party picker screen, and of course I'm blanking on that since it's something innocuous. Hubby is on that computer right now playing SWTOR, but I'll see if I can figure it out later.

He's officially 100% in love with me now (er, Cullen, I mean... altho presumably hubby as well...). I can't help but still giggle foolishly about it... even if one or two of his lines are a little on the cheesy side.

I can't believe how long we are gonna have to wait to find out if Cullen will be a companion/LI or not, it would help if they'd release new bits of information about the game in general for us to speculate on lol.

Okay, hadn't clicked in yet... but that was freaking amazing! Wow. Is it my imagination, or does at least one of them have strings from their bow hanging off, presumably broken?

*sigh* No kidding. I was looking up the dates the other day to see the time between 1 and 2. DA:O released Nov 2009; DA2 released Mar 2011. So... wow, less than 2yrs. Whereas, I think DG said he'd been working on DA:O 5 or 6 years before it came out. So what does that mean for us for DA3?? I would hope they spent at least two years on it... so that would be early 2013? But, hopefully longer...? Yeah, I think we've got some time. I guess I'm just hoping they'll finally announce that it's happening!

Yeah DA2 came out stupidly quickly for a game that's so story driven... which explainswhy it was severely lacking. I know David Gaider 'n' co had started working on DA3 concepts the minute DA2 came out so they may have been working on this longer than we think. My theory is that it'll come out sometime around March 2014, purely because they won't want to rush things this time.

In a way, the fact that they cancelled all remaining DA2 dlc ideas is a good thing because it means they are eager to put all their efforts into DA3. I think they are futher into the games development than they are letting on though, they just want to release snippets of information slowly to keep us interested and gauge our reactions.

@R2 Yes, they go through bowhairs like there's no tomorrow. =D It's kind of amazing to see the locks of hair that hang off growing thicker as they play a particularly energetic song. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" took a lot out of Stjepan's bow during the performance. And they attach cameras to the bows and cellos so you sometimes get a glimpse from those angles. the spin in "Teen Spirit" is a bit dizzying. XD "Welcome to the Jungle" has a bow shot that made my eyes go all googly. o.0

@LolaLei, Ah, good points. I think we've learned... 2 years is not enough! LOL But, you're right, they've probably been working on it for a while. I recall that within a few months of DA2 coming out, there was an employment ad for a DA3 designer. Given that amount of time, I suppose even seeing the companion armor mockups is already a lot. OK - excited again, not sad. :D

@Samara,Ah, cool. thanks! And, that's the word: bowhairs. Jeesh, yes, I am completely musically illiterate. <_<

Hopefully, they may have had some ideas of what they might want to do before DA2 wrapped and hit the ground running. I do worry that the lack of confirmation means the worst but since the devs seem so intereted in our opinions and there's been art, I'm more hopeful than not. :innocent:

I'm not terribly music literate though, either. I know a little about band stuff because my Dad has played bass, drums or guitar all his life. I found out that bows are strung with hair because of a Geico commercial where the narrator asks if Charlie Daniels plays a mean fiddle. Charlie ruins the bow and I just HAD to know what they're strung with.

Now I know they use hair - horse hair mostly. And a substance called rosin is rubbed onto the hairs for better traction. There are synthetic hairs too but they're pretty crappy. The accuracy of a note can be affected and the nylon can wear down the strings faster than hair and the sound they produce is pretty uneven. They're cheaper though. <_< But as far as I've read, most cellists and fiddlers of any appreciable skill use real hair.

Here's a new question for you all.

What would your reaction be if Cullen was in DA3 either as a major npc or a companion BUT they gave his character a girlfriend/wife (that isn't our Warden or Hawke) whom he presumably met during DA2 or between DA2/DA3 so we can't romance him.

Hehehe!

Ok, next question:

I know we all have different opinions about whether Cullen should be a virgin or not, but based solely on the way they have developed his character over the course of two games, if they address the issue of his sexual experience (or lack of) at all what do you think they'll run with?

I think they'll make him a virgin, simply because it would seem really out of character to discover that he's had sex, baring in mind he was so awkward in DA:O, then completely bat **** crazy between DA:O and DA2, then thrown straight into his new Templar duties in DA2 during which time Meredith became reclusive putting more work onto him no doubt, not to mention his issues with being tortured and his love for Amell (who I'm pretty sure he had no sexual contact with during his time in the circle due to his reaction when she tried to seduce him.) He doesn't strike me as the type of guy to let anyone close to him in DA2, let alone a woman so although I wouldn't mind if he had sexual experience, it would still seem out of character to me.

I think it would be out of character to think he had a lot of experience. Though I think it may be possible for him to have had an experience or two as a recruit. But knowing him... he'd see refraining as the better way to honor his vows. That said... rambunctious boys will be rambunctious boys. So I think he MIGHT have a little bit. But I wouldn't be surprised if he had none.

It's a tough one, he seemed so socially awkward in DA:O, I couldn't imagine him having much luck even if he had actively tried to get laid lol.

Ha, David Gaider 'n' co are in one of the companion threads for Cole from the Assunder novel. I wonder why they never comment in here?

Actually, I think I can guess why... There are things in here that cannot be unseen. LOL! Still, it's weird, I didn't think they visited this part of the forum, aside from when they make the companion threads for us.

They used to visit the companion threads somewhat regularly, not just to start them. NPCs, not so much. Gala used to speculate that it required more hardcore lore discussion, which is why this 2.0 thread is a discussion thread and not a fan thread, technically speaking. Cullen just doesn't have the love. :(
