I know EXACTLY what you mean! She always sounded like she was talking down to people lol. That's why I always play as m!Hawke... that and I love the way he delivers his sarcastic/snarky dialogue.

Hey here's a quick question....since unlike Origins we didn't have character videos regarding the companions/followers etc did the voice in your head match up with the voice of the character and were you pleasantly surprised or a little bit disappointed with the voices?

For me the people I had no idea what they would sound like were the elves Merrill and Fenris since in Merrill's case I had never heard a Welsh accent (to my knowledge at least) and Fenris I half expected to sound like Zevran, not BE Zevran mind you but I linked him to Zevran because they are both male elves and Fenris had that smirk that said Antivan to me.

I LOVE welsh accents now because of Merrill and Fenris's voice is kind of bad ass to me that when I was watching a video of the beggining of Skyrim I was like....that guy driving me to my death is Fenris and totally missed the first bit of dialogue.

I was a little sad that they didn't keep Greg Ellis as Anders in DA2 but I think Adam Howden did really well, especially those initial scenes. He made Anders feel dangerous. game him that sense of power that funny Anders just doesn't have in my opinion he is funny but sometimes I suspect it's because the lines are funny rather than him bringing them alive. He did make it believable for me to imagine that he used to be this aloof humorous mage and is now this tortured soul looking for both freedom and redemption.

I look at Origins and DA2 and see the differences in appearances and voices and think "How the frak did they go from that to THAT?" but they made it work.

I love Greg Ellis, he and Johnny Yong Bosch are my favourite voice actors. Although Adam did an awesome job with Anders, I'd really like to hear Greg Ellis say some of Anders' dialogue, like "I've tried to back, you saw what I almost did to that girl, you've seen what I am. But I'm still a man, you can't tease me like this and expect me to resist forever".

God damn I would melt if I heard Greg Ellis say that, melt into a frakkin' puddle. A. Frakkin'. Puddle.

But I do think the voices suit the characters, I daresay I don't like Merrill all that much (Probably because she's too ... cutesy, I guess? The same reason why I don't like Leliana as much as I thought I would) but her voice is awesome. I am disappointed with how they made some of the Origins characters look in DA2, Cullen was probably the only one who turned out attractive. But other than that, I'm satisfied.

I do wonder how Fenris would sound if he was Antivan, something tells me he'd be a lot sexier :|

I agree with this, holy balls. It took me ages to get used to f!Hawke's voice, I'm still not completely over it either. She ... sounded so self-centered, to me anyway. And her voice was a bit too high-pitched for my liking, considering most of the girls I know have average to low pitched voices.

I love fem Shep's voice, not too manly, condescending or lady-like, if they could get a voice similar to fem Shep for DA3's female protagonist I would be happy

She sounded waaaay more well spoken and posh compared to her family, which really threw me off... but then I'm probably just nitpicking because I'm British so I pick up on little inconsistences like that LOL.

I'm Australian and most of us have pretty deep voices so it's weird to hear Hawke pronounce some things the way she does, like "exactly" I have no idea why but whenever she says that word I wanna punch her in the boob >:C

I kind of want the Sith Warrior or Sith Inquisitor voice actors to voice the male protagonist for DA3. Their voices are so sinister yet can be quite heartwarming when they want to be.

Sith Inquisitor: That's not fear I smell is it?

Me: Maybe...just a little...yes.

I can't say any voice truly annoyed me....except Isolde and I don't dislike her character but uhhh...."TEAGAN!!!"` made me want to jump off that nearby cliff.

I wonder what sort of accent the new protagonist will have? I'm thinking probably French. If it's English again, then hopefully it won't sound like she has sh!t spread under her nose lol.

I've read comments and stuff about how people say they're not going to play DA3 if they have to listen to French-Orlesian accents for twenty hours, but I don't mind all that much. They can be humorous if they're over-exaggerated, or they can sound nice if they're toned down a bit, I just hope that the PC's accent is annoying as all frak, whatever it is.

I really like the humorous overly French accents, it adds a bit of light heartedness to all the drama. I quite liked Leliana's accent, Cassandra's was pretty cool too.

@R2 So to totally take you out of context (we're the ones settled on :P) Woo second place!!! Nah I'm kidding I understand tis a phase we go through on the quest for true love.

D'oh! Danny, way to take what I said in the worst possible way! LOL (sorry, been at a work presentation, so chiming in late).  I didn't want to share my very complicated theories on Dating Nice Guys™ and Rule #11, "Nice guys finish last." The take home message is that what every girl wants is a nice guy, so stay true. If she's in a phase where that's not what she wants... well, that's why it's dating and not signing contracts first; scrape her off.

For the record, I ended up with what I considered a Nice Guy (technically, my #11), which usually happens -- it's the corrolary to Rule #11.

I think they just want to not hear Isolde's lol. Leliana, Majorlaine and the few other Orlesians in Origins were fine, but Isolde sort of heightened the irritation factor by ten. I wouldn't mind a french accented PC or a another english one just not the more...eccentric voices? I dunno how to explain it.

I thought they were pretty funny. Particularly Baron Arlange (is that his name? in MOTA? the guy who throws a hissy over the wyvern?). I expected him to tell me I smelled of eldeberries and to taunt me a second time! LOL

I totally figured Isolde and Teagan were shagging... but then I also never got the epilogue card where he ended up with the chick from Redcliffe, so the former was always my headcanon. I do hope we see her again. Granted, she's a bit too much of a joke already, but it's still fun to see familiar faces.

Baron Arlange was a riot, it's true. Still, I'm a little... uncomfortable... about using accents as a joke. Maybe I'm just being too sensitive.

I also see your point, berelinde. Arlange was SO over the top that he simultaneously made me laugh and made me uncomfortable.

But in any case, I'm looking forward to an Orlesian setting to break out of the "fantasy setting = british accents" paradigm. :D

I wouldn't mind an Orlesian accent. I thought Riordan in DAO had a lovely voice. Shame his role was so brief.

I haven't play DA2 as a female Hawke yet so I cannot comment on her voice. I do like the male Hawke's voice, particularly if you play him as snarky/humourous. I does make me laugh at times.

I also love Merrill's voice, only because she is played by Gwen in Torchwood (spin off of Doctor Who). Eve Myles is brilliant in that!

I like the story but it's very slow. Takes a lot of getting used to. I wish there was a mod that would Benny Hill all the walking lol. Visually it's abhorent lol I'm a visual person and having my character and companions be just little pixels let's the air out of my sails. I've never played it before and everyone always raves about it so I really want to play it. Hate the top down view though.

I always loved Lady Hawkes voice. It's soft and feminine. I get how it's irrating though. The same VA does Dr.Cole in me3 and I want to punch her in the face. It does come off as very condesending.  Femshep's voice always rubbed me the wrong way. It just too deep. There where a few places in 2 where it sound it very masculine. "I'll take it." was one that always made me cringe. In 3 it was much better though.

I really liked Jennifer Hale's Leah voice in Diablo 3 was really nice. I'd love that voice for the new pc, (plus Cullen was the gate guard hehe).

It would be really great if you could pick your character's voice from a couple different recordings or you could raise or lower the pitch. That's not ever going to happen though lol

Wait, didn't Jennifer Hale voice fem!Shep?

As for Riordan's voice... Well, let me be the first to say that there is a world of difference between an accent to being a joke and an accent being sexy. Stephane Cochrane's voice could melt paint. I'm really, really hoping that he'll voice a follower this time. Maybe that mentor figure that Lola wants.
