To find out that he's been secretly funding the care of a sister that had been accidentally maimed by an untrained child mage... it would give him reason to have joined the Templars yet still be sympathetic.

On the opposing end of that... to find out that his sister's one of the girls at a brothel your party happens to have to investigate, that would shock me a bit.

Sister: "Hey big boy, want a date?"
Cullen: "Susie, is that you? What the...?????"
Sister: "Eeeew, never mind. How 'bout your friend?"
Cullen: "Don't you dare!"

Only if it was a...casual fling sort of thing where all three of you were friends with benefits is the only way I imagine that would work. It's just hard for someone to believe that people would be okay with sharing their loved one. It is no longer really that intimate...then again I have no idea what I'm talking about someone could be cool with it while maintaining that intamacy we consider "normal". I guess it's also a cultural thing.

Someone from a society that is polygamous may be much more inclined to the acceptance that there is "enough of there lover to go around"

So....*shrugs*

I meant friend with benefits thing, not two lovers..That would be..uh..well, it certainly wouldn't work out. At least in my opinion.

It's a cultural thing like I said. I did think you meant like the Jade Empire romance for the two female love interests. I believe they sleep together...or is it implied that they comfort each idk and then you have the chance to sleep with both. By itself it's not so creepy (hey I'm not gonna judge) but...it sort of crosses the line when you find out they're cousins...maybe it's just me.

Ok, I have a Cullen question:

If we were to run into, say, Cullen's sister (let's assume he has one) in DAIII, what do you guys think she would/should be like? What would make his story arc spicier? What would make parts of his personality make the most sense? What would surprise you most?

Maybe his sister is special or insane and he sort of abandons her simply because he doesn't know how to handle it, but you help him come to terms with it and takes care of her. It would incite bits of great rage at first but also sort of delve into very sticky topic.

I'm writing this after this post so if someone posts this don't think it's directed at you. I think if his sister would be a mage it'd be a bit of a cop out...oh another templar who happens to have a sister that is a mage and was somehow driven into the order *looks at Meredith/Carver*

I think I'd like it if maybe Cullen's sister challenges social normes in Thedas. Maybe she marries an elf, believes in the creators or is the complete opposite of Cullen. She's an assassin or a prostitute etc. Idk that'd be a twist to me.

Well do what I do in these situation absolutely expect the worst but hope for the best, that way if something goes wrong it's easier to shoulder and you can say well "it's not a surprise" but if the best does happen you are pleasently surprised.

On a semi-related note. Anyone else dreading and excited for the next gen consoles *raises hand*. Woo new graphics, a sleeker system, new features! Oh whats that? System crashing bugs, a system that costs my left testicle AND the added bonus of resubing to XBOX live/PSN for the umpteenth time without all the features we've just gotten....yay...<_<

It only happens if you're a guy I believe and it counts as a relationship with both of them. though I believe it sort of defaults to Silk Fox for the epilogue. They comfort each other when they think they've lost you. You have to jump through hoops though.

Say...for the male er Spirit Monk who do you guys think is the "right" LI for the male? Empress or childhood friend?

I will call myself "cautiously optimistc" as far as the next gen consoles go. I know the hubby's going to want one but I'll most likely stick to my comfort zone on the PC. Who knows? Maybe it'll wow me so much that I'll convert one day.

On Cullen's sister, I'd sorta like to see her be... normal, but insightful. Like, maybe she's a lot like him, perhaps even a twin..? Similarly committed to duty. Maybe she's also a templar, or a guardman or something like that. So you learn about him by seeing the similarities between them, but also the differences. Like she's much more lighthearted than he is and constantly teases him, resulting in one of those "OH! He does have a sense of humor!" moments. So you learn his backstory from her, since he doesn't want to talk about it. Would be nice to see something just... normal and healthy for him, poor dear.

Good thoughts, R2! (as always)  Image IPB

I hate to say it, but I have to: this scenario reminds me of Georgiana and Mr. Darcy. You see the two together and it's like "Aww, he's just a big marshmallow!"

do you know what would be super sad?

... if Cullen had a Tranquil sister. :(

** EDIT: given the events in "Asunder", that wouldn't make a bad personal quest, either...   Image IPB

Omg that would be awesome! Especially if he had to decide what was more important his work ethic/beliefs or his family.

... I still want him to be an orphan or have some really tragic family/past history.

Yeah, especially since becoming un-Tranquiled isn't exactly a pleasant situation, either. Bad quality of life either way. Angst all around!!

And if she were the last surviving member of his family, that'd make it even tougher to decide...  Image IPB
